  • At Thunderhill raceway, i saw a little flat-black turbo miata destroy EVERY street car present. Vipers, Mustangs, 911 GT3's... nothing caught it. Only closet homosexuals worry about how a car affects their sexual self image. i bought my miata to race it at the track.

  • steven tylers brother..!!!!

  • I love my miata, can't wait to take it on the track!

  • a huge help is the cost of the mazda.. my 95 ran me 3k last year and is in great running shape.. add another $3k to that for a supercharger and im in it for what we will call $7k ( other unlisted work) and at any autocross/ track event im hard pressed to find a car for the same price range that is as much fun to drive or will do as fast around the track. as in LAP TIMES not just trap speeds in one section of the track

love the car to death because it handles anything you throw at it

  • i drive my miata w the top down blaring ke$ha on us 129 deals gap (not gay in east tennessee)

  • oh this guy helps with the perception saying you have to grip the steering wheel by pinching your fingers like a queen.

  • Even though there is a video specifically saying miata are best for track days there are still haters here. Haters stop hating cuz your parents wont buy you a miata so keep walking. Other haters get in the driver seat and take it through the mountains. I can tell you my buddy with a wrx had a hard time keeping up since he was using soo much brakes during the turns. And to all the people with miata Its our thing let the hater hate! Cuz we love haters who can't hang!

  • Wow, who else here was moving along with your G27 or whatever wheel you had because you felt like you were playing iracing.. Oh btw I do a 1:42.3 on average @ seca in the mx-5 roadster

  • Those cars can handle! And I don't even care for Mazdas!

  • I own a '92 Miata and a '66 Mustang. They are both fun cars, but for different reasons. I think a true car enthusiast likes many different types of cars

  • To, me this whole "macho" vs "girl" car discussion completely misses the point.

I have an MX-5, and to the the choice isn't between an MX-5 or a Porsche or a Ferrari - the choice is between the MX-5 and a Mazda 323, an Opel Astra or something like that. For about the same price, I can choose to drive around in a 2-seated convertible, or a small family car. The choice is not a difficult one.

if it wasn't for the MX-5, my only option would be a Fiat Barcetta or an MG or some crap like that.

  • Is it just me, or does Randy (the race driver) sound like Steve Jobs? I swear he has the same voice and manner of speaking.

  • i like the miata but i preffer the s2000

  • what a car. what a track...

  • Chicks seem to dig Mini Coopers and VW Beetles nowadays. Most Miata's I see on the road are driven by men. My NB is pretty fun to drive, I have to admit.

  • i don't get why people call the mx5 a girl's car. every example i've ever seen on the road was a manual and driven by a man.

and i'm 6'5'', and i think this will be my next car.

  • I've got a '90 Miata (roll bar, suspension, short shifter, cold air intake, exhaust, race brake pads, sticky tires). Maybe 125 HP. Only Miata I've ever driven, not your typical Miata. Took it to Thunderhill (3 mile SCCA road course). All day learner experience with instructor aboard, about 100 miles. Smooth as silk, just goes where you want, great fun. Instructor just loved it, told me not to relax so much. Search YT for Miatas at Thunderhill. This is what a 2 liter sports car is all about.

  • thx mazda for making a sportscar, which is payable for everyone! also great car for beginners!

  • dude how ur not using that line that tells u when to brake or slow down? it would help u alot in this track

  • They need a Fat Gecko Dual D Camera Mount. I have one, it's Legit!

  • These things kick ass. It seems to be some kind of secret to everyone but actual racers! A solid 50% of my track mates run these with another 25% in S2000s. They don't have the top-end power of the Honda but they seem to have a solid edge in reliability and are far cheaper to fix.

  • These are ok cars. Yes they are great at handling, just not my favorite. I'll take an AP1 S2000 over it, but I think a lot of poeple would.

Regardless they are both amazingly handling cars.

  • the Mx-5 is lighter so it handles better. the s200 is so ugly and its really old. ots one of those cars that no one cares about anymore.

  • @NasahrSandi9 im not even gonna argue with you because everything you said was just dumb.

  • @NasahrSandi9 Because it's discontinued but it was a great car regardless.

  • The only way to go fast is to know where you're going. That's why Miatas are so amazing--all 3 generations. Yes there's some oversteer and understeer, but you always know AND FEEL where the car is going and what's going to happen next.

  • It's got a lot of wheel travel in the front

  • I like how some people claim that the Miata as a feminine car and have never rode or driven in one. Also thing that is funny is most girls now days go for cars like the mustang or whatever.

  • true, most girls go for the mustang v8 convertible. the Mx-5 is a real mans car because it handles really well and its a lot of fun to drive

  • It's been my experience that people who make fun of the Miata/MX-5 have never driven it (or been a passenger for that matter).

  • Or are insecure about their sexuality and are desperate to overcompensate perhaps?

  • Miata is a car for someone who really know about cars. True classic British roadster with Japanese reliability. Every other sportscar gets bigger and fatter but Mazda knows to keep it as it was when it started it all. I give points to Mazda for reviving the British tradition. If you think this car is to feminine, you are obviously too young and still immature in the automotive world.

  • @minibus1351 hey man nice comment. im only 16 and my first car is a '96 miata m-edition. i get called gay for driving it but it can still whoop ass when you race

  • @lineriderman2 Nice car you have there for a first car (not a boring Camry or something). I have no idea where people come up with a notion that Miatas are "gay". I guess in the US, people are used to bigger cars and smaller cars are supposed to be driven by girls? That is a whole lot of BS. I hope you enjoy your car and remember people who call you gay for driving the car are the ones who are insecure about their masculinity, unlike you. Miatas are legendary status cars now, and that's rare!

  • @minibus1351 I couldn't agree with you more!!

  • @minibus1351 I can't agree more!

  • NG731 you can't call a Miata gay when you drive a Pink VW Beetle convertible caring a Chiuaua Puppie in your lap you fag, your dad drives a Blue Mini. You Mom drives a Light Green Prius LOL. The gayest family in US soil.

  • for those that don't think they fit in a miata. All you need is to run bucket seats and it automatically drops your clearance about 3 inches.

  • I own a 2008 Miata and have to say it's easily the best "feeling" car I've ever driven. It doesn't have the most power or prestige, but it drives like an extension of your own body. My dad has a Z4 and it doesn't even come close.

  • My challenge to all the Miata haters is to figure a way to drive one HARD at an auto-x or on the track. They are soooo much fun! As Randy said (in the actual article, I think), you can use all it has to offer. Learning to drive a momentum car like a Miata will ultimately make you a better driver - as you can't rely on power to try to make up for a mistake.

Not sure about the rest of y'all, but I'll take Randy's multi-championship winning word over the rest of the YouTube peanut gallery.

  • Look at that little squirt go! Well done, Mazda!

  • Okay I am a skinny18 years old, Five foot ten inches and I had trouble getting into one at an auto show, and I could not get out on my own, no matter what position I put the seat in I still had to have someone yank me out, which is why I would not get it, something to think about

  • Thats really weird Zachary263, I'm 6' tall 16 stone and have a disability, I can get in and out easily and truthfully find it one of the most comfortable cars I have owned.

  • I still can't wrap my head around it the fact that you could get in being 6 feet tall with disability and getting in and out easily of a car that is the size of a shoe, if you can get in it easily, good for you!

  • Can't wait to drive all the MX-5's in Gran Turismo 5!

  • For those dumb asses saying the mx5 is a Gay car, you have no idea what you are saying get a life losers, statistics show near 75% of ownership is reportedly male, you can drive a muscle car or perhaps something bigger and still take it in the ass LOL

  • I'm a Longshoreman, so I get to drive all the Japanese and Korean cars off the car ships. That includes the Nissan GTR. I own a 93' Mustang, love the sound of a V-8. Don't get me wrong I would take a GTR over 10 Miatas anyday... BUT I always say that the funnest car that I have ever driven is the Miata. It is not always about power and looks.

  • really ? what do you drive ?

  • What a rather sad statement.

  • Go ahead kill yourself then. hahaha!!!!

    MX-5 rules!

  • They got this right: I've driven a lot of cars and this was a HUGE surprise. I was astonished at the cornering speeds you can carry with total confidence, leaving higher horsepower cars behind. There's really no competitor with this, aside from a used (and too often "beat") S2000.

  • Precisely Mazda and Mitsubishi used to build tiny V6's: 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 litres.

You can check videos of MX-3 V6's.

I think the problem was that they totally lacked torque.

  • I think the recent facelift did it an ill favour.

The old (2006) shape looked sort of ambiguos, cold, but now with the new design It doesn't look special anymore, it just looks like Japanese car trying to appear dynamic and mildly aggressive, no longer a minimalist identitiy statement.

    IMAO

I'd still do forced labour for one... By the way have you seen used cars' prices, they are incredibly high, they cost like new...

  • Got a 2008 this past spring. THE best car I have ever driven. Pure fun. (And great gas mileage!)

  • ford has already fitted a V8 (from the 2003 Mustang GT) in a previous version of the MX-5... I think it was on a 2000 Miata... they called it the Monster Miata...

  • people have been making monster miatas a lot longer then that.

  • I owned a 1994, a 1995 and a 2006 Miata. By a landslide, the best driver's car I've ever driven. A beautiful woman, a road trip and a windy mountain road with the top down, and life all fell into place.

If you can't afford a Porsche 911, then a Miata is perfect!

  • correction... If you can't afford a 911, don't buy anything else...

  • juanico21: What kind a car do you have?

I would rather have MX-5 than over price VW beetle. hahahaha!!!!!

  • the miata is a sports car in the spirit of sports cars 20 years ago. nowadays it needs more power to be taken seriously and as a masculine car

  • are the new miatas still as slow as the old ones, I did here him say it need a 100 more hp. I do love the Miata, but I think I would rather have a S2000.

  • thats ok Miata's have always been thought of a cars for gay men and girls. but the car is great so it does not matter.

  • Real men drive Miatas. Real men don't care what others think about what they drive.

  • @lesmcluffalot lol miata is a chick car and will always be...

  • @aieljose Your insecurities are showing.

  • @lesmcluffalot Haha! Sure... Whatever makes you feel better about the fact that you like chick cars...... You wanna see a real sports car? look up porsche and ferrari.

  • @aieljose One Miata, not a chick car and two a Fezza will drain your wallet in so many ways. A little 4 banger in a small light car can't stand up to a supercar running a well tuned v8 or v12 but it's the common mans sports car and a hell of a good time.

  • @guitardict lol A so called "sportscar" and it cant even beat a V6 Camry........Some sports car. lol Go look up the definition of "sportscar" in the dictionary

  • @aieljose Alright well you take your piece of shit Cammry around a track with it's fail wheel drive and try to keep up to a Miata and then see which car pulls better and see if some real drivers think your cars great. A sports car doesn't have to cost more then a large house and have a big v12. Ever heard of Lotus? You know tiny cars that are light with small engines, like the Miata. Oh and an Elise can beat a Rouche Mustang around a track. Light and small = sporty, dumb ass.

  • @guitardict don't compare this car to a lotus. A lotus would rip this car to shreds in both a straight line and on a track. There not even close to the same league of cars. Any real sports car would rip this thing to shreds on a straight or a track which proves it's not a sports car. Sorry if the truth hurts.

  • @aieljose I'm sorry but the small and light philosiphy applies to both this car and Lotus and if you tuned this engine like you would the l4 from an Elise you would get a similar car. Plus you can't say shit if a profesional driver find the car sporty and enjoyable, when I see your credentials maybe I'd take your cammry driving ass's opinion more seriosly.

  • @guitardict Well yeah i guess it would be sporty if you tuned it, but im talking about a stock car. You can tune any car to be fast. You can tune a prius to keep up with a ferrari so does that mean that prius's are sporty? lol Your definition of a sports car is different than mine. I only consider a car that has both power and handling to be a sports car. The miata only has 1 and not the other.

  • @aieljose miata has decent power for it's size. A lightly tuned miata, 180hp will yeild 4.3s 0-60 times and run 13 second quarter miles. Not bad at all for under 200hp. and under a $5000 budget total for car and mods. Yeah a lambo or something might be faster but its also $300,000+ For the price point theres not much better than a miata. And it is a sports car. Which is classified by how they are designed not engine power. Performance was put first over luxury and comfort items.

  • @aieljose You obviously dont know anything about cars if you think a camry is bad ass. Your probably one of those wana be gangsters with nasty ass chrome rims on there camry and tinted windows.

  • @EunosInUrFace I never said a camry is badass. You clearly misunderstood my point. My point is that if a miata can't even beat a camry (chick car) that's pretty sad for a car you consider to be a sports car. I laugh at people who say the miata is a sports car. Go drive a corvette or a viper then come back and say a miata is a sports car. LOL Your the one who doesn't know anything about cars my friend.

  • @aieljose You have obviously gotten whooped by a miata if your watching this video and trying to find something wrong with it. If a miata is not a sports car why are they comparing it to other sports cars like the corvette,350z,and the R8? The people at car and drive know way more than you will ever know. Also what do you drive if I might ask?

  • @EunosInUrFace First of all i have never gotten "whooped" by a miata. Secondly i am comparing a miata to real sports cars to show that it's not a sports car as each of those cars you mentioned would rip a miata to shreds both in a straight line and on a track. Finally I drive a modded 2007 Mustang GT.

  • @aieljose Someone is very sad there car didnt make it to the top 10 lol. No wonder your here all pissed off. You do know the definition of a sports car is a 2 seater that isnt heavy as fuck right? If you didnt notice more girls drive mustangs. You should have got a 350z instead you wasted your money. Let me guess your mods are its automatic and you have a cold air intake?

  • @EunosInUrFace Im not saying my mustang is a sports car. Where the hell did you see me say that? Im just telling you because you asked so im not sure how that relates to the miata discusion or how it strenghens your arguement about a miata being a sports car. Learn to stay on topic.

  • @aieljose So thats why you just went completely off topic right now? Either way the point and FACT of this arguement is that the Miata is A SPORTS CAR as said in the first 13 seconds of this clip. This is NOT a Opinion it is a FACT. Everyone is welcomed to there own Opinion but dont try to argue against something that is a proven fact.

  • @EunosInUrFace Really and how is that a fact? please explain!

  • @aieljose Its been proven for 20 years, its in the same catagory with the s2k,boxter and others. Car and Driver,TOP GEAR,race car drivers. What your trying to say is that you know more than the people at car and drive and top gear. If you did know more you would have your own show but you dont. Please get over it im over it already.Go drive your muscle car if that makes you feel better just be careful with that crappy suspension in a turn.

  • @aieljose LIght weight,2seater,50 50 weight distrabution, double wish bone suspension and quick. You might think it doesnt make enough power but you probably have never heard of Power to Weight Ratio.

  • @EunosInUrFace LOL "Quick" So a car that barely does the quarter in 16 sec's is quick to you? LOL What a badass sports car!

  • @aieljose At least you finally admit its a sports car. Thanks you =]

  • @EunosInUrFace I was being sarcastic. LOL "Sports car". Your funny!

  • @aieljose Mustangs cant handle for shit so your one to talk about handling. And I think you missed the first 13 seconds of the video were he says "the most popular SPORTS Car in the World" Learn how to listen. Mustang= no sports car.

  • @aieljose Let me get this straight: you are under the impression that a car should be solely judged on its performance figures as evidence by your modified Mustang. In other words, you have so little self confidence, that you need to make up for your insecurities by driving a "manly" muscle car, and subsequently making up for more insecurity by modifying it to be even faster. Do us all a favor, and grow a pair of balls. You're clearly not mature enough to appreciate the term "driver's car"

  • @marshknute I can appreciate the fact that a miata is probably a fun car to drive but i don't consider it a real sports car. To me a sports car has both power and handling. The miata handles ok but it has no balls whatsoever. It has nothing to do with me being insecure but you can believe whatever you want.

  • @aieljose A can be a sports car without being powerful for the same reason that you can play a game of baseball without being a professional athlete. Ironically, the Miata's tiny 4-pot makes it more of a performance car than any Ferrari, or indeed, your Mustang because it allows you to rev it higher and toss it around more often. MotorTrend's written article of this review accurately described it as a 99/99 car: you can drive it at 99 percent throttle, 99 percent of the time.

  • @marshknute "Ironically, the Miata's tiny 4-pot makes it more of a performance car than any Ferrari"... Really? I agree their great handling little car's, are great for beginning automotive enthusiasts and can make you a better driver. If I was small enough to fit I probably would've owned one at one point, but I think you failed miserably in that remark.

  • @SETexasCustoms You're barking up the wrong tree here. Last summer, I signed up for a program called World Class Driving (google it), where I drove a Lamborghini Gallardo, SLR McLaren, 599 GTB, R8 V10 and Bentley Conti SS. I got to drive the cars hard thanks to a lead car radioing back to warn of any dangers/cops further up the road. As fast as those cars were, I had more fun driving home in my NA Miata b/c I could drive it harder more often. You should take a new one for a test drive.

  • @marshknute I've driven a couple of them, a first gen when I was turning wrenches for a living and a girl I knew had one. Unfortunately I can't drive them comfortably, my 6'2" 265lbs frame prevents that. And they are great little cars, I had a blast with my knees against the dash. Maybe it's just the wording in your sentence, "more of a performance car". How can it be more of a performance car than, lets say the 458 Italia, which clearly and dominantly out performs it?

  • @SETexasCustoms That's a fair point: I'll change the word "performence" and revise my statement to say: "...more of a driver's car than any Ferrari." The 599 I drove was incredible, but the only reason I could drive it properly was b/c of that lead car and our radios. That's why I love the Miata, b/c I can drive it hard all the time without putting myself or other motorists in danger. In a few years, I plan on buying another Miata to use exclusively at the track.

  • @marshknute As far as it being a better drivers car, as a matter of opinion, I respectfully disagree. Just out of curiosity, if you were in the position to have a separate track car for use at a place where you could drive it hard with relative safety, why wouldn't you get something a little hotter than a Miata? Or do you plan on running in a Miata class? If so, that's cool, I like tightly sanctioned classes. It makes for really competitive racing.

  • @SETexasCustoms I can honestly say that I wouldn't want something faster than a Miata for personal track use. I'd prefer to learn how to drive my Miata properly rather than drive a faster car and fool myself into thinking I am a better driver.

Granted, I do hope to join a Miata clubsport organization after I graduate from college.

  • @aieljose As for the Miata being a chick car, it absolutely is (for other YouTube users reading this, I own a 95' Miata, so I have the right to say that). Women love it because it is a cute, two-seater, convertible sports car but it costs very little money, and most women can't tell the difference between a Miata and an XKR convertible. It's stereotypical title, however, has nothing to do with its driving dynamics, and it is still, and forever will be, one of the best driver's cars on the market

  • @aieljose um yeah it can. Maybe not on the highway or drag strip. But take them to a track or a windy road and the miata would smoke a camry. Miatas arent drag cars. You can make a school bus run 10 second quarter miles drag racing is gay and requires little skill. Tracks are where is counts and the miatas beat $500,000+ ferraris and shit.

  • @JD0x0 lol Your a retard. "Miata's beat $500,000+ ferrari's on a track" That's got to be the stupidest shit ive ever heard. ANY ferrari would smoke a miata around any track. I can't take anything you say seriously based on that one statment.

  • @aieljose your ignorance makes me laugh.

  • @JD0x0 OK Smart guy. Name one track where a miata is faster than a ferrari. Ive been to fastest laps dot com, and there is a single track where a miata is faster than a ferrari but keep talking out of your ass. It looks good on you.

  • @JD0x0 even a f355 beats a miata by 6 secs on tsukuba circuit. A track all about handling. LOL@You!

  • @aieljose Your calling a miata a chick car when your camry is a women/grandmas car. Your funny you do know the camry was made for a mature women right?

  • @lesmcluffalot exactly, what makes a miata a girl car? the fact it has almost perfect 50-50 weight ratio or the fact it can beat a ferrari on the track. Or maybe because it's small? If you guys wanna drive your big heavy chargers, and whatnot go ahead, it's just showing you need to compensate for your small penis. FWIW miatas are huge pussy magnets maybe thats why people call them "girly" because it attracts them. Well im not complaining.

  • Listen to the Expert Driver, Randy.

It is NO mistake the MX-5 rates so high, a true handling sports car is not ALL about power. Same as the 09 RX-8, beat a GTR as the best handling US car last year.

The MX-5 and RX-8 are both wonderfully Engineered cars to drive and own.

Please don't comment on something you know nothing about.

  • In the roadster category yes. but still... put it up against a base Porsche Boxster, and who do you think will win. Or against a Lotus elise and, yet again, the Mazda fails. I'm not saying Japanese can't make good cars or engineer a great car, just that, for a little more money, you can get much more of a car than you'll ever will with the MX-5.

  • you sir don't know shit.

  • ask anybody who knows a little about driver's cars who is the worst enemy of the MX-5 and they'll say Boxster.

  • apples to oranges buddy. youre putting a japanese roadster against a german sports car that cost roughly $20K more... i hope the boxster is fucking better. with the money saved from buying the cheaper alternative you could easily get the miata to handle just as well if not better than the porsche, and thats after you threw a brand new gt2871r on that shit.

  • @juanico21 I hardly consider $25,000 "a little more money". MX-5's start around $23,000, the competition is around $45,000. I mean if you're well set financially, and you love the Porsche there's no one telling you they're inferior, of course they're superior.

But give credit where it's due, how much 1 company can refine and engineer a car at such a low price point that deems it worthy enough to compete with the other cars in this comparison. That says a lot.

  • To those wishing the Miata had more power, yes I agree it could use more, but if you think about it Mazda doesn't need or want this car to be incredibly powerful, just underpowered as most have described its the best selling 2 seater sports car in the world Guiness Record books. want more juice buy the car and do it yourself the aftermarket is Huge just an intake can yield 15 horses in this incredible engine that loves 2 rev, add an exhaust and you got a 200 horses miata.

  • Current Mazda's line-up is too smiley. I know it will be a succesful thing from a marketing point of view, coz it'll attract a lot of people and a lot of women especially....who want to look cheerful and optimistic when arriving somewhere.

But it's still all just a bit.......oh "a bit", I mean TOO silly.

  • "Needs a 100 more horsepower"

    LULZ

  • To all the people who keep asking for the S2000, Motor Trend likes to keep things fresh and use a lot of the *newer* cars that have hit the market for many of their tests unless otherwise stated or benchmarking.

I understand there are many great handling cars out there that you and I would like to see in these tests BUT, this is a current events periodical and they need to keep material as fresh as possible for the widest audience possible.

    =T

  • 0:53 ... "Needs a hundred more horsepower."

    Yup

  • Miata is a nicely done car

  • why no S2000?.... whhhhhyyyyy???!!!

  • because the S2000 is dead after this year maybe?

  • I like how Motor Trend makes reviews like this one ..

  • Thats what i thought until i drove one!! now i dont have a problem owning one

  • when does GranTurismo come out for PS3? This makes me crave it.....

  • very understated car....everyone bitches and moans how gay it looks but it's an awesome package

  • "swweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!"

  • wow, a 6-speed transmission on a miata? thats tight. it sounds really healthy too. if only a honda civic was RWD, that woulda been awesome.

  • I'd be happy if i were a Miata :D

  • wow i have a game i play and they have this track on it.... never knew it was an actual track

  • Gran Turismo has Laguna Seca on a lot more real life tracks

  • there's a point where you realize that you need to get up off your ass and get out from under that rock that you live under and see that there's a whole nother world out there.

this is that point in your life.

  • hahah xD

  • The happiest car in America.

  • what are those dots on the steering wheel for? they were also present on the cayman on the previous video.

  • I'm thinking they're sensors or emitters which can be recorded to determine total steering input? I'm interested in how they record it. Infrared, I dunno?

  • They're stickers. Our Technical Editor Kim Reynolds uses a program that is able track the movement of the markers and with the data he collects, he is able to determine the steering angle.

  • rica boys

  • Gotta say I'm really enjoying this series. I may actually pick up the Oct issue at the newsstand.

  • it needs a little more horsepower

  • no, it doesn't. the MX-5 has always been known for having little power and incredible handling.

  • I had wanted a Miata, and I went to the dealer to sit in one. I literally could not even get inside. I am 6'7". So, I went and got a Mustang instead.

  • less that car got upgraded on this model .....tho.....it should of been upgraded years ago .........

  • I remember the Miata. its pretty sweet.

but I'd rather have a muscle car,

    maybe mustang or camaro.

    still this is sweet

  • Man I would love one of those but its just too expensive for me. On their website its about 25k.. bit a lot if you ask me.. if it was 220 HP it would be worth every penny, or at least flat 200 HP, and 200ftlb. Nice car, great lap time, really good driver!

Let me thorw that in, way better segments then Car n Driver.

  • Totally agreed, raise the hp or lower the price.

  • though its a well balanced car, it could be faster. 112 secs is kinda high comparissed to the others

  • true. i would be kinda embarrassed owning one. i would love to drive it though.

  • "It needs 100 more horsepower" lololololol

  • lol X a million

  • + 10 more lols

  • 2:10 he looked like he shit his pants

every car he drives he makes it look like it doesnt have power steering cuz his face turns red andtes his teeth down

  • No hard feelings but that dude needs to wear sunscreen...he is burned to a crisp

  • yes, the men's car is the ZR1

  • The vette is just a car with a big engine, this one on the other hand requires skill to work

  • from this comment, i'm gonna go with the conclusion that you've never driven a ZR-1. because then you would realize how much skill you need to put that car around the corners.

  • It does require skill, but that big engine makes it easy to cover up for mistakes, a car with no so much power as the miata is harder to drive fast constantly since it takes longer to get up to speed again. Btw, real racers drive miatas it's one of the most raced cars in the word, just a fact.

Btw, have you driven a zr1, or is that the counter argument to the "you can drive the gtr with your eyes closed" myth?

  • i've driven both the ZR-1 and MX-5. the ZR-1 takes WAY more skill to drive than the MX-5. the MX-5's handling is incredible and it has just enough power to keep it exciting (as Randy has stated in the video), but in no way is the car tailhappy or have race car-like jerkiness like the ZR-1 is known for. that big engine will not cover up mistakes. all of that 638hp will come back and bite you in the ass if you're not ready for it. trust me, having spun one around at Sebring, it was quite a ride.

  • 638hp can be fine if it's from NA engine and the power smoothly increases with the revs and it at the wheels immediately as you press the pedal and the pedal itself allows you to dose it precisely.

But if 638hp comes from a Supercharged or any other forced induction engine, it can be scary, becauce you don't a have full control of it, you have lag, you have waves of torque, etc.

  • this is for the MX-5, not for the ZR-1 you dumbass

  • Did you even bother to read the comments about mine you retard, get lost!

  • making mistake in a Miata is more forgiving than making mistake in a ZR1

but both cars are fun to drive depending on what you wanna do with them.

  • i totally agree. they are great handling cars but way to girly

  • Stiffer suspension is in order.

  • he said it needs 100 more hp

  • you're an idiot. this car is one of the best balanced cars this side of a porsche cayman, and you're saying only girls will like perfect weight distribution?

go ahead and buy a "man's car" like a mustang or something, i'll be having more fun in this. all 6'5'' of me.

  • Yes only fools that haven't driven a Driven a miata before would say it's a girl car. I've driven one before and it's bunch of fun to drive. It's like a gocart to me becuase I'm tall.

  • Good man...Good man.

  • who said anything about a mustang? put a

Miata up against an EVo and lets see who wins. EVO all the way

  • gee, ya think? lets see...

286hp AWD and one of the best AWD systems on the market compared to something that is RWD and only putting out 174hp. hmmm, who would win?

in other words, it pointless to compare an Evo to the MX-5 because they are in 2 VERY different markets. stop being an Evo fanboy.
