Don't be surprised by your success, Mr. Hickok45. I live in an apartment in California so your show looks to me like total Heaven. I have to drive over an hour just to shoot.
hickock45, may I suggest something, put the camera on tripod and let us see the camera guys enjoying some good shooting. Maybe a job swap day!! Just for fun.
@tartredarrow, What you mean is, I don't shoot them as much as you'd like for me to. That might be a more accurate way to say it than to assume you know what I think. :-)
Talking about gun videos. I'm fairly selective on who I like to watch. Some guys really do a nice job on showing their guns and reviewing. Some are myopic about firearms. Others stutter and stumble. Others try to convince their audience that they work or have worked for some secret government agency. But there are some very nice channels that are worth watching for different reasons.
Hi Hickok45! :) You are a popular shooter here on youtube (With over 130 000 subscribers), and it would have been cool if you opened up a web-store were you sell T-Shirst, caps, etc. (This is just a thought) :D
Thanks for your very informative videos. I am a new Glock owner and permitted CC. I bought a Glock 22, next and real soon I am buying a G27. Keep it up!
Hey hickok45 i've got a question,i got a mosin nagant its shoot a 7.62x54r,I was wondering is it illegal to kill a deer with that caliber? also could a BB kill a squirrle? also i have a 22. long rife (Savage semi-auto) could i kill a coyote with that? thanks hickok :)
@skyii123 (Part1) I'm not hickock, but I'll try to answer your questions.Whether or not it's legal to use a given caliber for hunting is subject to local laws, you'd have to check that for yourself. That being said, 7.62x54R is dimensionally and ballistically quite similar to .30-06 which is one of the most commonly used calibers for deer hunting and is quite effective at the task. A BB could kill a squirrel of it's going fast enough, but then it could also kill you if it were... (Continued)
@skyii123 (Part 2) ...going fast enough and placed in the right spot. However, most BB and pellet guns don't have enough muzzle velocity to kill rats, much less squirrels. I would recommend a .22 for that task. A .22 much like a BB could kill a coyote, but I think it would be a bit underpowered for that purpose. I would suggest at least a .22 magnum or larger. 7.62x54R would do quite well on coyote, giving almost guranteed instant kills with decent shot placement, though it's... (Continued)
@skyii123 (Part 3) ...quite a but more powerful than required for coyote's and over penetration is an issue, especially if your ammo is steel core. Know your target and what's behind it!
Hey Hickok dusty here I just got a Glock 23 it came with 2ten rd mags is there a Glock mag in 40 cal that holds more then ten rds an still have the flush look. Thx
Friend of mine came up with 15 propane bottles, like for a BBQ grill, the scrap yard will not take them unless they have been shot. The biggest thing I have is a 9mm. Will that work and is it safe?
@hambonedodge34 Will it work? Probably yes, it depends on the exact ammo used. Is it safe? Not if you're anywhere near it. There's lots of vids on youtube of people shooting propane tanks. It's not what I would call safe. However, if the main purpose is to make them scrapable, I would suggest making certain they are as empty as possible first, and I still wouldn't be anywhere near it.
Hi Hickok, Greetings and Happy New Year from ITALY!
i appreciate a lot your videos, it is very nice to see a lot of guns, a lot of shooting, while improving my understanding of the spoken English. It's always good to learn having fun in the meantime.
Those 1911s of yours are really fine guns very respected here, too bad that here Berettas in 9x21 are far more popular. I own 6 guns even with our laws, and i'm a reloader and i find your videos very useful and fun.
Hickok45, another topic I would like to see you cover (as you are obviously a Glock fan yourself) is the Glock GEN 4 problems (springs, trigger assemblies etc) because as a lefty, the Gen 4 appealed to me for it's ambidexterous features. Spring recalls aside, there are videos showing new trigger problems (newly added bumps and scritchy overly heavy trigger pulls etc.) and it stopped me from seriously considering my first two Glocks - the 23 and 35. What's your take on these problems? Thanks!
Hickok45, for 2012 - how about making a video explaining all the different types of "sights'" on the market? I myself remain thoroughly confused by this topic and have yet to find the time to research it. By the way, you are perhaps my one favorite youtube videographer (for lack of a better term) as I find you to be thorough, open minded and especially non biased when doing reviews. Thanks for that! Have a great New Year!
Thank you for making nice videos without swearing and allowing people to be rude.
It is so refreshing. So many people here (on the internet) say things they wouldn't say in real life and they need to grow up, or at least grow a vocabulary. Whether you like firearms (and I do) or you don't, it is very nice to see someone be an educated, open minded adult about it. Thank you. Happy new year and please carry on.
happy new year greg and john, thanks for all the great vids, because of you i purchased a glock 19 gen 4, beretta px4 storm, and the orange howard leight ear plugs. please keep it up and dont make me too broke in 2012.
First off I want to say happy new year and I just became a fan after watching some of you test with the glock 19 gen 4 I was wondering if you could test out some ammo. The name of the ammo is USA ammo if you could see if it a good ammo or if its a weak ammo. Thanks
Happy New Year Hickock... Not sure about the 'new' page layout though - I am not a fan and much prefer the original - easier to find stuff for sure. Oh well, that is progress I suppose.
Well I closed out the 100 year anniversary by giving my Sig 1911 some new grips.
Hickok, thanks for continuing to make these videos. I've been a subscriber for.... Oh.... Just over a year now I guess and don't miss too many of them. I'll keep watching as long as u keep making them.
Happy New Year Hickok!!! Since your first SAA Colt vid till now I have watched, you have kept me in stitches more than once :) Keep up the great videos, hope 2012 will be a bigger bang than 2011 was!!
Thanks for posting Hickok, its always nice to see people post with a passion for their hobby. Its always nice to relate to other people with seemingly obscure interests!
@JCNmedia, "Obscure"? Shooting is a huge industry. Look at all the gun shops, gun shows, and other sporting goods stores that sell guns and ammo. Millions upon millions of us keep them in business. There are probably more shooters and golfers.
I didn't mean obscure as a negative, here in Vancouver most people I know have never even held a gun, let alone understand how fun firearms are as a hobby. The idiotic local stigma attached to them makes being an enthusiast a frustrating affair, especially when lacking the time and money to join a club.
@hickok45 Yup, also there's the fact that Walmart sells guns and ammo. I don't think you can really consider a hobby obscure if it's big enough for Wally World to sell stuff for it.
Thank you for you love of guns and bringing it to the "Masses' in such a great way. I just found your videos this year, but I will be watching until you stop makin' em! I have learned so much in the last year... Thank you Hickok, and Happy New Year...
Just bought a very nice Colt 1911 made in 1963 according to the serial number. Only paid $450 for it because the guy re-blued it so its not orig. But he did a great job. Similar to my Colt Pythons blue which is stunning. Never enough 1911s
I have a few $100s kicking around and I want to buy a 1911 before my wife gets her sticky fingers on the money. Can't afford $1,200 like I see for some of the new ones in the shops around here though.Happy New Year also.
@bizzarementbrun Local gun store here in town. The guy knows I like 1911s so he saved it till I came in. It was a consignment gun and the guy only wanted $450. From what I see online because of the re blue job its worth between $550-$600. I'm going to build it up as a competition gun..
@thallium200 Thanks. I will need to find a place like that here. Most of the places near me are the big box places like Dick's and Bass Pro so they don't deal in second handers.
I will have to make a treck out into the next town to the closest locally owned place. Thanks again and happy new year.
Happy New Year Hickcock!! Unfortunately I cant and don't own a gun because I live in the police state of New Jersey. I was hospitalized for a month for depression about ten years ago. Due to one unfortunately rough month of my life New Jersey says Im not eligible to own a firearm. I live my firearms owning dreams vicariously through you. Thanks!!
@girtisholland, If I had to live in New Jersey, I think I'd be hospitalized permanently for depression! :-) The KGB there would not approve of my favorite hobby, I'm afraid. Of course, it comes down to the voters of any particular state as to what the screwy laws are. We ourselves are to blame; we get the government we deserve.
Thanks for sharing the 1911, it's my favorite sidearm, I have several firearms I like, but the 1911 has a special place in my heart. I hope to view all of your videos because you inform and entertain so well. Have a great 2012 and thanks for making 2011 a good year on youtube. Good wishes from Daytona Beach Florida.
THANK YOU HICKOK45. My dad fought in the Philipines. Ran out of bullets with his 1911 in a close fire fight, he had to use his 1911 as a club to save his butt from being shot point blank. The gun was heavy enough to disable the man and he killed him. John Browning's gun means that me and my brothers and sisters and all his heirs are alive. Now that is war gun! Happy New Years Hickok45 and John and everyone that makes this good stuff possible and all the youtubers out there that do care. R n'R.
I think Hickok represents the things about America that still make sense. A lot of the contemporary stuff... not so much. And this coming from a foreigner in his 20s.
Thanks for your videos and your help in zombie control. Also thanks for helping me get back into a hobby that I use to do when I was a kid. I'm getting my daughter's into shooting and gun safety as well as spending some quality time with them.
I'm getting very close to buying one, other than revolvers I do not own an all steel pistol. I like the polymer stuff for the light weight and reliability. But I find myself having to make an effort to not buy a 1911, I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose that battle.
I've been a longtime fan and subscriber of your channel and I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for making all of these great and informative videos for all of us other gunnies to watch! They are very educational and entertaining. You encouraged me to go out and buy my first gun, a Glock 19 and I have never stopped loving it since I got my hands on it. Thanks again for everything. Happy New Year Hickok!
Hey Hickok iv been a fan for along time now and just wanted to say thanks for all the time you and John put in doing the videos. I do have a request could you do a video on painting the steel targets i have a problem with mine chipping off when shooting, yours always seem to stay on what the trick???
@antwan0821 im not sure of his secret but mine is dont give it a chance to rust if it dos rust then scrub the rust off with steel wool and the paint over it
I've heard that when you own a historic item such as your 1911, or a rare coin, or some other antique, you don't really own it. It owns you. You are the caretaker to see that it is passed on to future generations.
Hickok im getting a new gun soon and iv narrowed it down to an SKS or a 8 mm mauser .I want your opinion on what I should get because I know you have them both.
Still get the chills when I go back and watch you shoot the original SAA Peacemaker black powder frame with black powder hand loads in that video. This one had a bit of that feeling only with the 1911a1. Thanks
So Long 2011. John Browning is without a doubt the best firearm designer of all time. I like to honor him by becoming a Browning collector and obtaining every Browning design that I can get my hands on.
BTW Hickok my birthday is coming up on January 1st, why don't you do a little video for me shooting your M1A again? LOL!
@hickok45 it is not a competition. i watch a few channels for different reasons. I watch you for info and fun shooting, tnoutdoors9 for ammo tests in depth, and fpsrussia to see stuff blow up and other shenanigans. keep doing what you do best. :)
The correct term is suppressor because it suppresses the weapon, does not silence the weapon. a suppressor is meant to make the sound of the weapon sound like something else like a book shutting or a loud footstep.
@ADFilmSA Did you not see his previous videos and radio shows? He said the correct term is actually "silencer". The ATF use word "silencer" to describe any device that reduces the sound emitted from the barrel. It is just pre

Would love to see a side-by-side of a Kimber (any) and Colt series 80, 1990. You know, weight, hight, overall feel of the two; general thoughts.
Thanks

Great video - thank you for posting!
I've heard that when you own a historic item such as your 1911, or a rare coin, or some other antique, you don't really own it. It owns you. You are the caretaker to see that it is passed on to future generations.
I believe that this is true.

Still get the chills when I go back and watch you shoot the original SAA Peacemaker black powder frame with black powder hand loads in that video. This one had a bit of that feeling only with the 1911a1. Thanks

I liked it "thumbs up*
BTW, a suppressed 300 ACC Blackout w/sub-sonic ammo @ 230 yards would be off the charts.

LOL!

The correct term is suppressor because it suppresses the weapon, does not silence the weapon. a suppressor is meant to make the sound of the weapon sound like something else like a book shutting or a loud footstep.
ADFilmSA 1 month ago
@ADFilmSA Did you not see his previous videos and radio shows? He said the correct term is actually "silencer". The ATF use word "silencer" to describe any device that reduces the sound emitted from the barrel. It is just pre
