Recumbents are extremely unstable and uncomfortable off road. You get bashed around and destroy wheels frequently because you cannot unweight the wheels when you come to bumps or other obstacles. They are good on road. But useless off road.

@GuyFawkes40 I don't ride fast but I ride a lot of bumpy and washboard dirt roads. The rear suspension makes all the difference. I broke a front wheel but not from a bump but from sliding into a rock. I also run big, low pressure tires.
Are you talking about recumbent trikes? I never ride my two wheel recumbents off road.
