  • @clintonearlwalker You are so kind, thanks so much, this is one of my favorite carols too and i´m so glad that you enjoy it as much i do, i wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas!!! Thanks!!!

  • @avatarprimus Thanx for that, I did a bit of research on this carol last night. Apparently, in 1853 an Englishman named John Mason Neale wrote the lyrics and used to music from a 13th century song about spring. There is a great upload of "Tempus Adest Floridum" posted on YouTube by "prosperous101" if you are interested.

  • Can´t believe that english carol s about king of my country!!! Our choir sing it at Christmas! :)))

  • theres a skip in the song after "gathering winter fuel" that just ruins the whole thing. please fix.

  • I love this song, doesn't it remind you of Yankee Doodle? Or is that just me? (:

  • At 0:26 left upper is st. Ludmila's martyrdom, see Fuit in provincia Boemorum, Passio Ludmille Martyris.

  • is it possible to know something about the recording of this song? I would like to buy the disc !!! Thanks!

  • @j077yr0g3r hi, greetings from México, this song is from disc called ¨let it snow¨ from a collection of 24 Christmas discs recorded by the Longines Symphonette Society conducted by Michael Piastro, beautiful original recordings from the radio show ¨the Longines hour-long sunday evening¨ from the early 20th century, the collection was launched in cd in 1997, perhaps you can buy it online in amazon, i have 2 discs i bought in a Walmart store here in my city yeras ago, thanks and Merry Christmas

  • @avatarprimus thanks!!!!

  • @avatarprimus I agree with you a very beautiful christmas carol, and this is the best version I have ever heard, specially because this is my Father's name Wenceslao I love this carol, receive best wishes and warm hugs from Colombia, merry Christmas!

  • @j077yr0g3r This song is on The Time Life Treasury of Christmas. along with a lot of other beautiful Christmas songs.

  • Tis a good tradition : D

  • Wonderful i play trombone bass for this song in my school band

  • Just blasted this in my house. Awesome.

  • We celebrate a king for his mercy and charity, not for his glory! And that is why we call him a "Good" king. Mercy to the weak, and charity to the poor!

  • It's to bad It can't be Christmas everyday. Winter's my personal favorite holiday. Wish things that happened In TV would happen, but that's not the world we live in. Anyway Great Video.

  • I remember learning this song when I was 10 years old in the USA.

  • Lovely carol this - it has a relevant message for today too . Happy Christmas Everyone x

  • Amazing...how comes English sing this and we dont ?? I am really amazed that it actually is song about Vaclav

  • Thank you for this amazing video, it's interesting the British know this song and we Czechs dont :) Merry Christmas to all :)

  • Don't take this badly because I mean know offence, but Bohemia is primarily Catholic, Britain Protestant more specifically the head of the church of England is the Monarchy, as such a song about a benevolent King is going to be well liked by the ruling elite when the song was written, conversely in the Bohemia the Papacy would likely suppress such songs ( I mean at the time, just as England would have suppressed a song about the kindness of the Clergy. that's my theory anyway lol

  • Surely one of the best carols there are! A wonderful melody mixed with a very important message; the lyrics are quite poetic. Thanks for posting this, happy Christmas!

  • One of my favorites that you rarely hear.

  • it is an ok song i kinda like it

  • We love this video love

Wishing you and your family the best ever Christmas

    hugs hugs

  • My favourite carol too.

    Thanks avatarprimus and Merry Christmas!

  • Merry christmas to all readers.

  • Cool

    Say I

  • Thanks for the video. Definitely an underappreciated Christmas song.

  • Náš český Václav ;) Zajímavé je, že Češi tuhle písničku vůbec neznají (resp. skoro nikdo jí nezná), zato Angličani ano :D

  • janewave99, hi, sometimes people are not interested in history even in their own countries, happens in all the world, and therefore they miss some interesting aspects of their culture and traditions and the culture and traditions of other countries as well, as it happens with this beautiful carol to Saint Vaclav made by an Anglican man devoted to High Church traditions passed to them from the Catholic Church. Thanks for your comment , God bless you and i wish you a very Merry Christmas!!!

  • Cool this helped me a lot

  • Existuje i česká verze Náš předobrý Václav král:) a myslím si, že má daleko větší sílu, než jakákoli jiná česká koleda.) opravdové kouzlo vánoc!:)

  • Thank you so very much for the detailed account of the good King! This carol is my favorite of all Christmas songs. And this version is amongst the best I've found on youtube-it has the right beat and tempo. ♫
