  • umm would you want to circle the the head afterwards?

  • This inside trip is a beautiful move to own whether youre using single of double overhooks. I'm a rookie and since I started using this am scoring lots of takedowns including yesterday wen I took down a 300 pounder (I'm 170). The key is to defend against your opponent inside trip wen u set up for it.

  • Kendall Cross is very impressive!

  • well explained thanks for showing live footAGE TOO

  • I no nothing about wretling.. I have been powerlifting for 4 years. I would love to learn wrestling. I am 22 now... how long will it take to learn? and where should I join? I'm from India?

  • @rocky90091 Just try to find a MMA gym. If they have those in India, I dont know how big MMA is in India.

  • @Chasen14 MMA isn't a big thing in India. I m a patriot, but still Indians are know for their sedentary life style n pot bellies. Wrestling n stuff was popular in the era of the great gama and dara singh. Now, we hardly find gyms or schools of wrestling.

  • @Chasen14 and thanks for the reply brother.. I'll try finding a gym.

  • @rocky90091 Do you still live in India? Wrestling of all sorts is gigantic in India, it's like the national sport. You should have very little trouble finding a gym.

  • @ooogooman Maybe you are saying that coz you've heard names like the great gama and dara singh :) But the wrestling era was way back in the early 19 hundreds till about 30yrs back bro :) Now, we can hardly find a wrestling school... what was know in India as- "Garadi mane".

  • @rocky90091 Really? That's a damned shame.

  • i did this in a match once

  • There is the evidence of the video so no doubt he can apply the techniques, but my doubt is why the other doesn't put a double underhook

  • @ParkFight Its all in the timing. First person to control hips and break posture will win. Had a larger training partner throw me with overhooks when I had underhooks. He beat me to the punch (breaking posture and hips).

  • The freestyle one looked painful.

  • its almost like you hook the leg and sprawl

  • Oh man, I did the bear hug a ton where I would step around that right leg. I'm hella happy no one ever did this to me.

  • I don't know. I still think the guy with the bear hug is in the better position here... if he notices. IMHO you're better off to throw the double overhook than go for that trip. I mean, bring your hips in like that while I've got you in a bear hug and nine times out of ten I'll put you to your back (unless you're simply a much better wrestler, in which case there are less risky ways to take someone down).

  • Idk man Double overhooks feel so secure for me and it usually is, I mean I don't get takedowns out of it but man they can get through it if I keep my hips back and my weight forward

  • We agree. The double overhook is an effective defensive position, and like I said, you can throw it. But as you say, you're strongest when you keep your hips back and weight forward. I was talking specifically about the trip, which requires you to bring your hips forward. I think a strong wrestler locks his hands and drops you with a bear hug from there. But, hey, different moves work for different people. If someone can pull it off, more power to him. Personally, I prefer the underhooks.

  • coach cross of the midwest city bombers

  • We use this technique a lot in Judo, there it's known as Ouchi Gari. It's a great technique.

  • i used this three times in three different matches, i love it

  • if it works, it works.

  • I don't like the double overhooks. I do freestyle wrestling and I usually get one overhook and wrist control on the other arm. My problem is I just don't know what to do from there except whizzer if the guy shoots me. What can I do?

  • From that position, I'd look to do a snap down. You can just transfer your wrist control to head control and snap from there. It's best to snap straight down to a front headlock (which is good for offense). Or you can just dig for an underhook with wrist control and move to over/under. From there, you can throw (laterals, etc.)

  • I don't know about one over and one under in straight wrestling. I get arm dragged all the time when I do this or hip tossed.

It works fine in mma but I never hardly use this against good wrestlers. You get thrown real fast.

I might have one underhook and if I do have the other arm in overhook postion I make sur I have my pushing my oppent's chest so he doesn't get me with those techniques...

I don't know if you get what I'm saying, maybe you shuold post a video response

  • OK, I'll get something up.

  • You're simply being beat to the punch. Remember, if you have an over/under, the other guy has an over/under, too. It's not all about speed, though. Keep your hips low, elevate the underhook and drag the overhook. Now he's off balance and in no position to do anything offensive. If he manages to get you in that situation first, release the overhook, push off (or go for wrist control), and circle toward the underhook (his overhook) until you're squared up and back to neutral.

  • man you know if you got under over just drive and when he comes back boom lateral drop

  • personally i do not like this move. i trip from underhooks all the time but to do it with overhooks you have to have it very tight and controling postion. if it is not tight when you lower your level to trip the guy will just collapsase on top of you.

  • You really should never do a trip like that from double unders. When you hit the ground, the guy has both your arms trapped, so you can post out to stop him from rolling you, which he will if he's half way decent.

  • That trip works really well in MMA. One thing you have to be careful of though is the counter. If you have an inside trip, the other guy also has an outside trip.

  • clear and easy to understand & backed up by real competition. well done guys.

  • Great. I love the competition footage. I wish all instructional videos showed this.
