I can't remember hearing anything by or about this group after 1990. This sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't remember it as a Crash Vegas number from '95, nor do I recall seeing it on Much Music. Nice, but I could have done without the tattoo on McAdorey's arm in light of all the unhip brain-dead females I see strutting around nowadays distastefully painted. Tattoos and piercings are now the domain of the low-minded mainstream. Of 'hoodies' and baseball caps, I won't even speak.
Patrick, thanks for posting this video! Crash Vegas was such a great band. I still have their 3 cds and play them regularly. Saw them play live once when they toured the Aurora cd. Trivia factoid... check out the Blue Rodeo official video for Try and you'll see Michelle McAdorey of Crash Vegas playing Jim Cuddy's love interest in the video.
I haven't seen this video since the 90's...thanks for posting it! Great clip and a beautiful song. The entire Aurora album is just fantastic and I always felt that it never received the full attention it deserved in Canada. I still put the CD on when I'm in a melancholy mood. In terms of Canadian music I don't hear much similarity to The Hip...Blue Rodeo would be a more fitting comparison in my opinion, although Aurora was more sonically experimental than BR's no frills approach to production.
Crash Vegas, Blue Rodeo, Sloan, Sarah McLachlan, 54-40, The Tea Party, Big Sugar, The Tragically Hip... these bands all have the "Canadian sound." It's never great, it's never horrible, it's just kinda blah, like water chestnuts or bean sprouts or steamed rice. I don't know why, but the Canadian record industry just seems to churn out more bland, tepid artists than any other country I can think of.
@wolzek I asked because you gave a big list of what you didn't like. It's always good to know what somebody likes along with dislikes. That way you know where they are coming from. There's no point discussing musical taste with somebody who thinks Gordon Lightfoot is boring but likes Marilyn Manson.
@wolzek I agree with you to a point, but I do really like Crash Vegas. Alot of Canadian bands in the nineties around the time when the Hip started to get popular all sounded the same. Like they were trying to copy 'the Hip'. That music is boring as all shit if you ask me. All sounds the same and everything you said. Not Crash Vegas though, they're kinda folksy and different than alot of other stuff.
Thank you for posting this video! I have been looking for this band for a long time. I was just a kid when they became popular (I had the casette), but this album really stuck with me. I got really excited a few years ago when I heard a cover of this song by Shaye, but now I can finally hear the original. Thank you!!
I wonder where Michelle is today? I just loved this band when I was in my early twenties, late teens. Favourite song of all time is Red Earth for their first album. I met Michelle backstage after a show and she was nice and elusive at the same time.
I've always thought of this song as being an expression of dreaming of greater things and a higher state of consciousness. I relate it to Weeping Tile's "U.F.O. Rosie". And then there's an Icarus theme of aiming too high and being lost -- "The sparks can burn your hand...Shoots you out, just like a satellite". Then "My feet keep walking/Come back body, come back memory/You know lately, friends think I've turned crazy...And it feels like/I'm flying".
I've been looking for this a long time. Thank you for posting it. You wouldn't happen to have "Pocahontas" as well? I remember seeing it on Muchmusic, which was my first introduction to Crash Vegas.
this was on Rogers and it was driving me mad to find this song so thnx a million xD

I just bought all 3 Crash Vegas CDs from Amazon (abeit used) My first collection was stolen, but I was so happy to get them again.
Three great albums--I wished they had done more.
I saw them at the Spoke at Western and they were great live as well.

Thanks anyway. I'm an editor as well, actually.
