Everyone is so hypnotized by CGI. CGI is just a tool and not always the right choice for effects. There is so much bad CGI in films today. The final results using this model technique were stunning.

@JerrysFunhouse CGI can be bad when overused. It also has advantages like building a computer generated set or filling in the backdrop with lots of people in a battle scene such as lord of the rings.

@leokimvideo I think a good question to ask yourself is "what part of our post causes it to look fake?" and then seriously reviewing that piece to see if you can avoid destroying your hard work with real models.

Nice - since I was a wee little Kraut I was fascinated by how people make stuff look like real for the movies (read: special effects) and it never left me. :) And it's good to know that even today not everything is done by cgi.

"big miniatures" - the Lord of the Rings people called those "Bigatures". ;)
