Because I also remember him saying that the U.S. is the seat of global economic power, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the entire U.S. population is privileged, and that huge segments of the population don't live in dire poverty.

I honestly cannot tell you where specifically to find that position of his (it is not a DIRECT quote), though I do remember it was in a response to 9/11 and the truth movement.

I would also have to fervently disagree with you and say the entire U.S. population is tremendously privileged. I get plenty annoyed when I go to some place like China and encounter subjectificaiton as the Rich American White Guy, however disadvantaged I consider myself. But the point remains, our poverty doesn't hold
