  • A good singer works with the instruments, the music and singing here is beautiful.

  • thank you for this..your friend frank fioravanti

  • My favourite Dusty song. That voice just hits you in the guts.

  • The greatest Tykelad72 - tell it like it is.

  • This is how to sing, from the heart. Forget all the shite Simon Cowell and his bland, talentless spawn come out with.

RIP Dusty, you were one of the greatest.

  • thumbs up if you heard this song first at Hollyoaks, and you cried with the saddest McDean scene...

  • I dont know about anyone else but when ever i listen to this now , i always think of that"CRACKER" episode on tv when the woman chains her ex boyfriend to a bed then plugs a lead in and electrocutes him. Gruesome. Beautiful record though.

  • amazing Dusty had the most wonderfully haunting voice try" going back "as well another great Dusty ballad

  • Ahhhh, I have been looking for this song all today! Finally!

  • mindboggling, she didnt realise she was one of the best performers ever, pure emotion

  • Listening to Dusty is the closest thing I can think of to being shot in lughole with a velvet baton round. Simply astounding voice.

  • i love Dusty, her music was amazing. This song means so much to me. it is on my ipod and i hear it frequently, LOVE IT

  • You are the greatest Dusty. You went to music heaven when you weren't supposed to but at least we can see you and listen to this classic song until we meet again. Many thanks.

  • Actually she spoke in several interviews that she often felt conflicted in her pop image presentation as a perfectly heterosexual woman because she knew "i could just as easily fall for a woman as i could a man." I forgot which interview that quote was from but i never forgot it. She was openly bi towards the end of her career and life.

  • she was gay wasnt she dusty aww bless

  • Amazing voice.

Fantastic singer, taken way too soon.

  • what a voice today's singer are all shouting for some reason they can learn alot from watching this, she has a very well controlled voice absolutely brilliant.

  • Makes me feel sad in a happy way.

  • never mind clicking on this to say you like. What about one to say l love this song!!

  • Thank you so much for Uploading this son

  • A white woman had the best voice. And the best (ammount) songs of any female performer. Her greatest hits cd is 24 tracks full and still not complete.

  • Of nearly 140k viewers only three have no taste at all.. There is still hope!!

  • This is a very mysterious song i love it.

  • What a great song. I can't tell whether it's meant to be sad or happy.

  • @TheDoctorForever57 Yes, it is. That's Dusty.

  • Simply sublime!

  • The thing I like most about this song is that its so undramatic...

  • I didn't even know this was Dusty!

She had long beautiful "legs" but hardly ever showed them!

I Love Everyting She Sings!! rip xxx

  • fab.xxxxxxxxxxx

  • How I love this song! The very first record I ever bought, and still one of my favorites! One of the best songs ever! RIP, Dusty, You always will be remembered!

  • Every drag Queen that ever lived wanted to be Dusty !

  • Why cant we such role models like this today...

  • wonderful and powerful. I'd like to see the talented Regina Spektor do a cover of this great Dusty song.

  • One of her best. Glenda-Marie...ty xx

  • A Dusty era fantástica.

  • pure genuis

  • She looks so decent as she's always been , what a great talent....!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 people are heardless

  • I heard Elvis Costello once say that try as he might, he's NEVER been able to replicate the fantastic sound of the piano in this song, probably produced by Ivor Raymond? As for Dusty, well there's simply never been anyone like her and the world lost a lot of love and laughter and of course music, when we lost her. God bless, Dusty.

  • She is just the greatest!! What a fantastic voice!

  • Love,love,love this song.

  • This is Dusty's best song!

  • love this song

  • Thank u for posting this love her :-)

  • there will never be another dusty Springfield

  • Just briliant,I loved Dusty

  • This was such a fantastic singer...and this song is giving me wet eyes. Her voice is fabulous and so soft and sexy (is that the proper description?). Maybe sensual and strong would be the right description.

  • One of the most heartnrealking voices ever and this has to be one of her best songs.

  • i wish she could be here now...rip dusty

  • This is one of Dusty's lesser known songs, but its my favorite Dusty song ever. Thank you so much for this post!

  • they are closed lol adore her lol x

  • great song.she has such a sexy voice.

  • Love this song and I love Dusty. It does tickle me how she can't keep her hands still while singing. Watch any video of her and they're moving along with the song. Sort of like an extention of herself to add a little drama to the performance.

  • Dusty is wonderful, beautiful song

  • Gorgeous!

  • Lovely song, I like this.

  • nice great song

  • when i was eight i knew it was a special era for music - just wished back then i had been ten years older. i had the 70s which were good - but the 60s were exceptional... you can't follow an exception. today's music - half-written cliche'd predictable chorus-based dross......

  • This song rocks! Awesome Dusty!!

  • This song rocks! Awesome Dusty

  • a haunting and moving song and i werent even alive in 60s lol

  • Bloody brilliant, best song she ever did, in my opinion that is!

  • @tommytempra - My favourite too - she's just bloody brilliant!

  • love her

  • Dusty is the ONE and ONLY!

  • even today a very very great song and a unique voice! by a comfortable mile better than most of modern popsongs.

  • gorgeous voice

  • Such a great song. It's kind of weird that it wasn't released in the United States. It was a very big hit in her native country.

  • Her best by a fair distance - packs a massive steel punch in a velvet glove - "I close my eyes and count to ten and when I open them you're still there." - We've all been there !!

  • nice lol

  • erm ... i'm pretty sure this is the original. Clive Westlake wrote it, but Dusty Springfield was the first person to record it - 1968.

  • Original or not this is the one for me....such a supremely beautiful song...thank you for posting...

  • hay dios jaja demasiado bueno xd aunque el remix de offer es mejor xd

  • what a versatile vocal range. awesome. the real x-factor.

  • This is such a wonderful song. Thankyou so much for this.

  • Perfection!

  • oops......IMHO.....

what a .lovely classy lady you are Dusty

  • Check out the version that Plutootjes has....best live version of a song that Dusty ever sang INHO.

  • I don't recall ever hearing this before, but it's great!

  • beautiful voice .. sweet melody ..this song now is in my heart...

  • This is so beautiful. This lady is adorable both in looks & voice.

  • For me the Laban version is the only true one, now and forever. Dusty has amazing voice, don't get me wrong, original is the original. ;)

  • the intro is so lovely. And what follows is even better.

  • ...Too late. I just discovered Mark Almond and Horace the Horse. Where's my prozac

  • Plutootje posted a live version from 1968 elsewhere in YT, and this very beautiful and dramatic song simply doesn't come off. Whether on vinyl or CD, it's a very studio record and I think it should stay that way. So also never, never any cover versions, pleaze.

  • I only heard this a while a go but i almost cry whenever I hear it.

    its beautiful

  • This single just knocked me out when I first heard it. She was doing all sorts of fabulous records then (I well remember the album "See All Her Faces," which was a treasure trove. She thought of herself as a very plain girl and was determined to successfully transform herself physically to match the musical talent she fully knew she possessed. And look at her! Gorgeous! A very very bright woman who basically produced all her own big hits despite what the label said!

  • Wonderful song and a marvellous voice

  • Somehow this song has stir the emotion of sadness and you missing something.

    RIP Dusty

  • i LOVE this song and Dusty!

  • THE best Dusty track and THE best piano sound ever (jangly and compressed sounding - great!)

  • you got something against CD's and DVD's ?!!!

  • The limited recording technology copressed the dynamic and frequency range which, in my opinion, added to the track. Vinyl LPs usually sound better than CDs if played on a decent (usually European) turntable - the sound tends to "ooze" out of the speakers in a more natural way...

  • True. I've got a (mono) 45 of this track from '68 and it sounds far better than the CD recording - played on an original Thorens (German) turntable through BBC monitors.

  • Wish to be back in England in the late 60's. Would go and buy that record on a 45' single.

  • beautiful song!

  • 1968 - I've met her in Paris - THE Dusty Springfield and with the love (NOT Dusty) in my arms I closed my eyes...

Listiening to this music the moment comes back immediately - Peter

  • I love the drama in this performance.....

  • wish i could close my eyes and you were still here dusty but you will never leave us all i need to do is listen to your music and your wonderful voice and you are still "HERE" r.i.p.

  • Grandisima Dusty!

  • wow!

  • great song she was awesome

  • Great song!I love it.

  • My favourite song from the greatest singer ever.

  • Wow this song! The way Dusty sings..the arrangement..I just love it. This performance is spectacular. Thank you for this great video! *)*

  • amazing

  • The wonderful Dusty Springfield.

  • i miss her so much. i love this so song. it is one of my favs. Rest in peace Dusty, you are missed.

  • Reminds me of my trip to Australia while in the Navy back in 2000 onboard the USS Hewitt, I would sneak my CD player in my coat on my lookout watch and listen to Dusty and especially this tune, ah her beautiful voice the soundtrack to the picturesque view of the sunrise/sunset out on the Pacific ocean so memorable!

  • It sounds so beautiful the way you explain this.. And to listen to Dusty while in nature makes the experience become even more alive. Thanks for sharing this. It sounds amazing! I'm going to listen to Dusty when we go to the shore and watch the sunrise and sunset or even just while sitting on the beach. I Love music and the shore. Especially Dusty's music! Thanks for the idea. *)*

  • RIP Dusty -- you voice will forever flow thru our earbuds.

  • magnifique chanson!! merci Dusty

  • 10 years on... RIP Dusty

  • I agree... nice dress. hhehehe

but it reminds me a bit with that old american TV serie: "I dream of Jeannie"

    Gennie in a bottle!

  • My favourite song from the greatest voice in pop music history.

  • Aside from the fantastic vocal (unequalled today), this is a spectacular arrangement and production, too. Is this one of Phil Spector's? Or maybe Jack Nitzsche without Phil?

  • No, but Dusty was influenced by the Spector 'wall of sound'. This song was recorded at Chappell Studios, London, in 1968. Her recording manager at Philips throughout the 60s was Johnny Franz, but Dusty later said that she produced and arranged most of her own records as she knew exactly what sounds she wanted. She recorded this vocal with a hand mike at 6am in the ladies loos (better ambience than the studio) to a round of applause from the cleaning ladies! Incredible artist.

  • Thank you so much, Nicklas --- that is a *great* story, with lots of detail (I'm almost as interested in production as I am in music, itself). I'm not surprised (though I am tickled, of course!) to hear that Dusty recorded the vocal in the bathroom. Before the days of digital "virtual rooms", there was a lot of that going on --- if I remember right, the guitar solo on Led Zep's "Heartbreaker" was recorded in a big shower-stall, for the quick "slap-back" echo it provided :-).

  • ahh! she is so gorgeous! Such a wonderful voice!

OMG, I adore that dress, i want one for myself!

  • Comment removed

  • My song

  • Singers like Duffy are fine, but to call her the new Dusty, no chance, she`s a million miles away.

  • I don't recall this song back then, maybe it wasn't released in the US. Maybe it's time to reissue or someone else cover it...just don't screw it up and turn it into a gospel song.

  • Brilliant performer who I will never tire of,think that "All I See Is You" has to be her best.

  • as usual, dusty done it perfectly...

  • The greatest Lovesong!

  • My favourite Dusty's song by far. Thanks for sharing this lovely TV appearance.

  • Oh WOW, I like dusty whit her dusty voice

  • dont care what you say stonkin off the hook out of the orbit my song diva of her time diva in mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just wish she was to sing it for us, Fantastic

  • This always my favourite Dusty song.I'm surprised to see a video for it! Good show!

  • i close my eyes and count to ten then i come in you again

  • this is absolutely my fav dusty tune...the production and performances are amazing...why can't labels sign talent anymore...

  • A perfect angel!

  • I love this song!!

  • The more I see this video the more I love this song. This song is one of the best songs ever...

  • An absolute GODDESS... who can compare to her nowadays? I'll tell you..NO ONE!

  • dusty was absolutely brilliant, no doubt whatever the best british female singer ever

  • Gee...she's awfully good, isn't she?

Why, she's almost as good as Petula Clark!

RIP, Ms.Springfield and thank you for all the music.

  • lol.Dusty could blow Pet Clark off the stage..............french Love pc...so guess that figures

  • Geniuses have a tendency towards self destruction, as a rule they are decisions not governed by common sense or even self-preservation,merely instinct and compulsion, ps.why plagarize a famous persons name ??, petshop would have been more appropriate methinks.....

  • Plagarize a famous name??? Oh please...get over yourself. However, while we're on the subject of names,

PontificatingWasteofOxygen sounds about right for you, my bon ami.

    Au Revoir!

  • and petshop so suits you.........Pontificating ??.if you know what that actually means.......I will be amazed, is french ur first or second diallect ?....guessing Braille is your primary......

  • Please may i ask which charts you have gotten those figures from?!?!?

A quick search of YT itself tells you as of this afternoon there are 1,210 Dusty videos and only 760 of Petula and sadly the former is no longer with us.

I am an avid reader of biographies and pop journals and it seems you had better write to all the authors because as far as they are concerned Dusty is Britains best-selling female artist EVER!!!

  • Hehe.well said, whilst I have nothing against Petula.apart from her horrendous performance as Maria Von Trapp in the west end around 17 years ago........she is not worthy to breathe the same air as the Springfield.......

  • Actually, according to Wikipedia Shirley Bassey is the best-selling British female singer ever...but so what? None of them have sold as much as Madonna or Britney but does that make them worse artists? For me , Dusty has the most beautiful and musical voice of all.

  • bitchy ? swish ? "not the marrying kind" ???.....I'm so glad I disappointed you.....would much rather slap you !!!.....go back to drinking cheap gin and singing along to "Downtown".........love and kisses xx

  • this song was sang olso by fausto leali in 1968 called chiudo gli occhi e conto a se1

  • This is my favourite song of hers. Good to see an original video of her singing it and not just hearing it on CD

  • The wonderful Dusty.

I'm just pleased the shouting has stopped.

    Now, play nicely children!

  • Pure Magic!! Love you forever Dusty

  • The best British female singer - ever!

    Thanks for this clip.

  • She's superb. Unbelievably beautiful voice, magnificent tone and phrasing. No one like her before or since.

  • Best female vocalist EVER that we can all agree on!!!

  • My love was for her music not for her person.Who gives a shit who she banged. Not me!

  • Damn. Someone's a bit uptight, eh? I haven't been in a closet in decades and thought, for someone your age, you'd be a bit open-minded.

Minds are like parachutes and don't work very well when they don't open. But that's your loss. I'm done here.

  • I thought the idea here was to comment on the music, not carry on immaturely,as you are.I have said nothing to inspire such vitriol.I`m sorry, you`ve obviously been the victim of something nasty.Oh,by the way,I`ve been winding you up!

  • Ha! I've been winding YOU up, Dude! You are like the gayest thing on here! And I'm so glad we both lurv us some Dusty! That's one more thing we have in common! I just hope you get the help you need, y'know, before it's too late. Bye now - I'm counting to 10....

  • Yeah, and how are those hate-crimes workin' out for ya? Better check you're not violating YouTube's policies. Grow up, a**hole!

  • COME ON FOLKS

Never mind Dusty's private life. She was an iconic English Rose with a remarkable voice that could move you to tears. Look who we have now... Amy Crack House...

  • Does anybody know who wrote and produced this gorgeous song?

  • THERESACOOTS

This song was written by the late CLIVE WESTLAKE, a wonderful song writer, regretably no longer with us.

  • Hi familydayout. Thank you. I will look him up to see what else he wrote.

  • THERESACOOTS

    It's a pleasure.

  • She's a class act and She will live forever in our memories. Great song.

  • why would it matter that she was gay?She was still the same person and without doubt the best british female singer EVER!!

In this day and age people should not have a problem with peoples sexuality, unless they got something to hide!

  • Chill out mate.Dark in that closet eh?

  • even if they were true why should it matter!

    she was a fantastic person!

    totaly missed by all

she has one of the best voices ever!

you should be proud of here no metter what

  • Yes she was gay, but was does it matter. If you loved her it shouldn't matter to you.

  • Besides, what makes you think she'd

even look at you, "stud"? (seriously. just kidding).

    Nothin' like a little Dusty!

  • When I said I loved her I was referring to her music not her self.Who she batted for was her choice obviously.Bit of a waste though!
