  • The ghost was mixing till 6:57!! HAHAHAHA!!!

  • does i-mix reload mkii works with serato scratch live?

  • excellent video, well done!!

  • Hey I just downloaded the software and I have SL1 box and the cds, but it continues to tell me that the hardware is disconnected

  • @A2r1anaz is the SL1 box plugged in?

  • @jmlbrns45

I got it to work, thanks though.

  • awesome video thanks

  • 3:50 serato testcard sound lolololololol

  • two things. serato isnt free, and you cant use it as an internal mixer unless you wanna play one song at a time.

  • @gboy1134 Serato is free (The Software), the hardware is what costs money.

You cannot use the software without the Hardware though.

  • he said benny ben-ez-ze...... im gunna vomit

  • Iam new to Serato, what did you do on the mixer to get it to go from the long tone to the sound of the song. What did you switch it to? Was it phone to line?

  • Thank you so much, hehehe I was just starring at the program for ages wondering why it wasn't working like virtual Dj, but once you said that without the serato box thingy it's useless I understood, thanks for the help :)

  • How Much Would All This Cost ?

  • @LegitBenny A lot... I was terrified when a found out a Rane 68 mixer cost 2500 Australian dollars...........

  • @Sheeeeepies1 well umm i need a job for this so i need to start earning thanks:))

  • @LegitBenny

Well if you already have turntables, needles, and mixer, then the cheapest Rane box is $500.

  • I want your mix of the songs you mixed at the end PLEASE!!!

  • I hav a question I don't know war to get traktor or serato plz reply back I'm stuck with dese two options

  • where can i get the rane serato hardware inerface???

  • @soocer1583 serato.com

  • Thnx i actually know what it is now.

  • how can do i get the scratch live interface with the two turntable

  • @spiceyjewel You need the box, the SSL, otherwise you only get one deck off the download on serato.com

  • good video! So is it the same as technics as in the pitch responsiveness?

    Thinking of buying

  • Very easy to understand, Good video

  • What is everything that is being used here? Including turntables, mixer, and anything else

    Thanks

  • will the scratch live vynil work on any software like Virtual Dj and on any turntable

or only on scratch live ? someone help me

  • Does it matter wat type of mixer you use or Do all the mixers connect wit the scratch live program

  • @ska8ingbeaner not really, the only thing that matters is when you are using cdjs. u need cdjs that have vinyl or scratch mode on them for them to work

  • wow does it auto sync? lol

  • Did he give me the 2 fingers at 2.54?!

  • IS THERE ANY YEEZY ON IT?

  • i mix without cd or record players just with my laptop and my mixer

  • can u use this with the numark mixdeck

  • I heard ferry corsten for like 2 seconds =)

  • damn i love serato.......check out the NEW traktor controller, it is FANTASTIC as well....

i love serato so much because it includes VINYL and you use your turntables .....we can't phase turntables out ...its just wrong.....that will be a sad day when turntables arent an integral part of the deejay's setup...

    VINYL FOREVER

  • Amazing, you will never need those vinyl records again, only a couple of them that hasn't music on it, just a code, you'll be using the music that u have in your laptop, and all those tracks out there that are only in vinyl like old school electronic music, underground labels releases, or any kind of only vinyl music would be never played again, beautiful!

  • @EnnisEduardo Your sarcasm is all over the place with those comments, don't know if anyone else caught that. You could however take the time to rip all that great vinyl to your laptop or external hard drive and still play it.

  • @DphL0 Only if you want to Search your songs right from the mixer and Rane made a mixer for that Rane TT-57SL. The Pioneer DJM 800 Mixer has cool sounds beat effects to use when your doing live mixing like Robot,Trans,FlangerPhaser etc check them out here on youtube. I will say only Rane TT-57SL& Pioneer DJM 800 mixer works best on the Serato Scratch Software. Many djs use both of those mixers.

but any mixer will work but its the mixer you want to use...

  • Whats the name of the song on the 2nd vinyl?

where do DJ get their music from beside Limewire?

  • DOES IT MATTER WHAT TURNTABLES AND MIXER YOU HAVE??? LIKE WILL STANTONS T52 WORK SOME PLEASE ANSWER?

  • @StormEagle21 you need a rane mixer

  • @StormEagle21 ANY MIXER OR TURNTABLES/CD PLAYERS WILL WORK BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU LIKE ON THE MIXER TO DO. BUT MIXERS DO HAVE REP SUCH AS DJM-800 PIONEER, RANE TT-57SL DJ MIXER WITH SCRATCH LIVE ITS NEW AND I THINK IT CAME OUT SOMETIME IN 2010 IF IM NOT MISTAKING BUT IT ALLOWS YOU TO SEARCH YOUR SONGS RIGHT FROM THE MIXER. ON THE PIONEER DJM 800 IT HAS SOME COOL FEATURES YOU CAN USE WHEN YOU MIX A SONG LIKE FLANGER,PHASER,TRANS. check videos on youtube to see what you like.

  • do you have to get a certain type of turntables or mixer?

  • i have a question (please inbox me with replies) i have baught serato (shipping is takiing 2 weeks) i have just installed scratch live 2.1.1 and it only has one deck.. will this change when i connect the serato box up to the laptop.. thanks sean

  • Can you type in any song on this and play it or is it from itunes, songs you all ready have?

  • @theantone100 songs you already have saved in your music

  • Are you getting paid by Serato?

  • how do you put the 2ed deck on a mac

  • how do you put the 2ed deck

  • so if you drop the needle halfway into the record, does serato start the song halfway thru or start at the beginning?

  • notice how much better the real vinyl sounded

  • do all mixers and turntables work with serato scratch live

  • @smashbro35 yea exept usb mixers

  • it seems like ssl was made for hip hop dj's who want to scratch something they can't find or get on vinyl. Everything this guy is doing on his decks could easily be done on just a pc. Seems pointless to have the turntables. Scratching and beat juggling might be cool using serato but beatmatching shitty techno is useless.

  • Are Technics tables and Rane mixer a must with serrato? I thinking about buying ( just for fun) Will Gemini turntables still be good?

  • will Two Direct Drive Numark TT200 Turntables work with SSL?

  • surprised that Dell hasn't exploded

  • @grossjon LAPTOPS HAVE REP ON DJ USE. APPLE is not really made for DJS but your looking to spend over $2,200 on the apple laptop and which later will shut off on you in the middle when your djing at parties. I know that cuz I have seen my friends that are dj & they say apple makes a SORRY ASS LAPTOP FOR DJS.. But here again it depends on what laptop works best 4u.

HP/Delll works Better also dont forget to get a External Hard Drive to store all your music

  • @jrDJREMIX what? well i've got a macbook pro and so do about a dozen other DJs i personally know and we're all using serato and *none* of us have any problems whatsoever with our laptops shutting down mid-set.

i use ableton suite 8 and serato connected together with the bridge, a pair of technics into a allen&heath xone 92 and an akai apc40 and the whole lot runs together smooth as silk. no shutdowns, even on a 4 hour set. apple makes a SORRY ASS LAPTOP FOR DJS? uh... i don't think so.

  • can you use any song?

  • @theantone100 Yes

  • hey man when you choose your songs is like YOUR itunes or your music? or does it just come up if ya type anything in?

  • @sourskiddles1234 i think its frum yur itunes dude but im not sure

  • what mixer is that? what is the switch he flips to use the serato vinyl?

  • @berto3

    Are you kidding?

You must not of seen a mixer? He just switches from phone to line

  • Comment removed

  • at 4:02 he says he switches to a certain mode... what's the mode, would i need a certain mixxer. im a little confused on that part

  • @2fours09 To better explain it. YOU DONT NEED TO GET A CERTAIN MIXER but thats if you want to do cool features like on Pioneer DJM 800 mixer which allows you to use sound effects like Filter, flanger, phaser etc. Its best when you are doing live mixing.

If you rewatch the video again at 3:25 hes not using the Serato Scratch Record cds. at 3:40-4:19 he puts the Serato cds. Mode on the mixer will allow u 2 use the software. line/phone will allow u 2 use other cd records..

    Hope this helps you.

  • so: Scratch Live + 2 Analog Turntables = 2 Digital turntables?

i dont want opinions that digital is shit. i have no records. but dont want to buy digital turntables. this sounds too good to be true. lol soz im a noob :)

  • i see that everyone with serato uses tabletop cd players or turntables. is it possible to use serato with rackmount dual cd player?

  • @djspinc107 Yes these systems will work with a rack mount CD player. WIred my Traktor Sratch Pro with Audio 4 DJ to my Stanton c.503 rack player and it worked just fine.

  • Virtual dj & torq both are ok for the bedroom or an indroduction to using your laptop for djing.

I used them both especially Torq for nearly 2 years, but i have just b4 christmas moved onto serato mainly for video SL and i have to say the sound quality of the SL3 is way better on a big system. The crates, midi capability with my pioneer, and aux in/out for recording is second to none, in my view with a mac pro rane serato is the best system going i love it.

  • thank you, ive been thinking what all do i need to play with those.

  • Virtual DJ is the best!!

  • It was a good video till you ripped off ellaskins and said "Practice and Enjoy"

  • @cstgermain its becuz they work together.. and so far i think ellaskins is the best Dj tutor ive seen yet.

  • @cstgermain He's a DJ tutor too.

  • So you can put every song you have from your iTunes library and import them into this program??

  • @Driscol yes! any song from your harddrive, cd or pendrive;)

  • @Driscol yes and it sould sync all your music the first time you install the program.

  • @Driscol oh yes!! import them and remix them, beatmatch them with other tracks, the possibilities are endless....

but yeah your itunes library will totally load into serato....i use it and it is the best!

well i really like my traktor too, but thats a diff story lol

  • @Driscol ya man, you can import ur playlists u made form itunes and it will appear the same on serato:)

  • just wondering, do you need 2 of those serato vinyls? or is one enough? he shows one, but my guess is that you use 2 to be fully functional

  • @lifeatlast26 yes u do

  • Comment removed

  • Is there a way that you wont need the serato scratch live hardware interphase? Maybe by using traktor pro or virtual dj?

  • @1992CAD

Traktor pro is an entirely different program, relying on a midicontroller. Traktor scratch pro is like Serato scratch live and use hardware aswell.

  • nice i heard the old mars n mystre track when you switched over to serato

  • question, im kinda new to djing, but iv'e started to practice at home. why not just use the sync button? he manually did it, but his were not completely sync'd were they?

  • because if you use the sync button, one day u might not have one and you won't have any skills of beatmatching, and it just shows that you use shortcuts, making you alot less of a dj

  • you only need one serato vinyl to play any song?

  • So Im getting rid of my MPC to get SSL SL3, I make beats in Reason 4, can I make them work together to have badass sampling in my reason beats??? someone help me out.

  • @phatgstats

After serato scratch live released the 1.9 version they added a sampler feature. So what you do it you create your beats in reason 4 export it as audio, wich will create an .aif file i think. Then you put this in your sampler and you can play your beats and two other songs at the same time. Or if you just want to play the beat with one other song you can just load it up in your deck and use the vinyl/cd to play it.

  • i thought the tone was better than the first track ;-)

  • @andyallw00d

    hahah yes!

  • can you use three turntables with this?

  • hi, when i download serato, it does not have 2 jogwheels like what you have?

  • If you add a mixingpanel or something you get 2 jogwheels

  • you only get the jog wheels when you have the hardware conencted up mate.

  • u need the interface. you cant use the software alone

  • Do anyone know how many countries use serato scratch live. I cant find the answer and im doing a essay on it

  • @Devestato72 : I would say DJ's across the world use serato. You would probably have to contact serato and ask for a comprehensive list of every place they export to... Difficult essay topic >.>

  • Thank for hitting me back. I took care of it, i figured everyone in world was using it, Instructor wanted the number, so i just said everyone. tks. I thought he may check into it and pull my card, but he didn't. tks

  • can you take the waves out of serato ?

  • What's the difference from just using two CDj's?

    instead of the turntable +serato?

    Its not the same thing?

im trying to DJ, but im just trying to research and stuff before i buy anything

i eventually want to learn how to Beat Juggle but I dont think Vinyls will be easily accessible for me. So will two turntables and serato do the trick? or should i just get CDj's for now since i have no experience.

Where's a good place to get vinyl's? And do they make vinyl's for recent stuff?

  • You just asked every single question i was about to type out. haha

  • when you buy the scratch live package it comes with two timecoded vinls the rane sound card two timecoded cds some rcas and some installation software. and just about any turntable will work with about any two channel dj mixer. the vinyls are universal. they work with the files on your computer you only need the two vinyls for all your tracks

  • get serato scratch live with 2 technics 1200 and a vestax pmc 05 pro 3 dx its pricy but trust me its worth it if ur serious about djing

  • @henrysour hey im debating wether to get serato or tracktor pro i got the mk1200s, what do you think

  • where can i buy the audio box and only the audio box

  • EBAY son

  • Is there any starter turntables or mixing board you suggest for a beginer dj?

  • thanks 5 stars, but u never mentioned the cost

  • can i use bcd2000 with serato software and binyl?

  • i thinks torqs better...

  • Can Serato handle a 150,000 song database without any wierd stuff going on

  • does it show the bpm's on there for you?

  • is it possible to connect virtual dj to ur turntable and mixer i find virtual dj better

  • you can't connect any software directly to your vinyl turntable so stop saying it like that. you're gonna need some sort of interface like the SL1 that has an input for turntables and output for your mixer. it also needs a usb output too to connect to your computer.

  • hah is that because you've not tryed serato, or is it because you have a illegal copy of virtual dj and don't want to spend money?

  • ur right i never tried serato but my virtual anit illlegal

  • Whats up? Is it possible to have Virtual Dj and Serato Scratch programs on your computer and be able to run them not at the same time but diffrents times like Virtual Dj on a friday night and Serato Scratch on a saturday night with both database files on the harddrive from each of the programs without creating problems??

  • yess off course, (as far as i know) but i find serato to be FAR FAR FAR more reliable than virtual dj: sometimes when i arrive at a gig and want to power up VDJ it wón't even start and if i use the search track function it won't play the track and shut down the program, thats why i switch to serato with my cdj 400's

  • you swore

  • the screen beatmatch is not always right

u can use your ears anyway its just a cheaper way if u cant afford cdj's

  • good stuff

  • So is this like something that makes every other equipment to be like the computer dj program controllers?

  • terrible mix, but an amazing piece of equipment

  • so..basically you can take any song in the world and just program it onto (blank with a long high pitched tone) one of the turntables and it becomes the song and you can then manipulate it like a real record? damn! totally eliminates the need for crates and crates of vinyl!..if im understanding it correctly

  • wayyy cheaper

  • @beyo2120 but nothing beats the vinyl though... still sexy though

  • @beyo2120 Yeah thats exactly the point of the software, fantastic, isn't it?

  • can you use serato together with efx 500? tnx

  • dats cheatin!! u can beat match with the screen!!

  • SERATO IS OVERRATED.

Serato? Yea.. traktor can beat that stuff any day. Their timecode is tighter then serato and their soundcard is better then serato..

Yup, I'm gunna talk about virtual DJ. Virtual Dj was mixing video and had a sampler LONG BEFORE SERATO. Serato is just behind on alot of shit.

    Traktor FTW.

  • Serato is mainly used to store mp3/wav and to manipulate those songs on vinyl. Traktor is basically a PC DJ. Traktor and Virtual DJ are basically alike. They do the manipulation for you. With Traktor, you be a PC DJ with the "look" of having vinyl dj.

  • computer djing sucks ass

  • better than buying records and cds and you can do more normal djingg suck ass

  • Why does this suck? You save a lot more money instead of buying records and it's more economical. This is innovation at it's best. You still spin vinyl, but you aren't paying a ridiculous amount of money for one good song on a record. Also, carrying loads of records was starting to wear me down.

  • Can you tell me why? Does it really matter where the music lives? On a hard drive, on a cd or on a vinyl?

  • how do you use loops and cues and stuff on vinyl?

  • on the original vinyl you use markers, a small white stickers ON the record..

dont think that there is a loop -.-'..

    figures

  • What mixer do you have? Is the crossfader pretty smooth? What 3 channel or 4 channel mixer would your recommend for under $400 for scratching and for having some mixing sound effects.

  • behringer djx 700 ;)

  • where can u get that scratch live hardware ?

  • Does this work with the Windows Vista SP1?

  • is there a button on SSL that will automatically beat match 2 tracks? or is that still done on the turntable?

  • still done on the turntables

  • cool. is there a pitch control on scratch live as well or am i just an idiot?

  • not totally sure , but thats usually done on the turntable.

  • yes

  • all done on the tables..no auto match just the bpms are shown visually

  • just bought the program last week. unbelievable. i love it.

  • that was sweet bro. helped big time with my purchase decision

  • Whats ur equip setup in this video and how much is it going to cost? I wanna take up turntablism so i need a starting setup... any tips?

  • been mixing for eight years, vinyl not being made these days! get SSL,

    mixing is goin digital

  • That was very helpful in making my decision. Thanx, Cj

  • im interested to know hows the signal level from the computer compared to vinyl?

im currently using virtual dj aswell as vinyl turntables and when i mix a vinyl over a computer track the vinyl signal is such better quality that its impossible to mix

.i was wondering if serato solved this problem

  • Thanks for the overview Bro.

  • can you loop with this

  • yes u can up to 9 different loops on 1 track. great program but makes DJing a little too easy

  • how much?

  • here in the US its 539.99

  • WoW!!! This guy is one heck of a DORK lol.

  • i swear i love scratch live i kant wait until i get this but now m problem whould be te needles =[ but i kant wait =]

  • hey do you know how much cost!!! that software? incluiding the little black box..(serato scratch live) thanks for your answer

  • hi whats the name of the song at 4.14 ? its in the movie of frankie wild . pls anybody knows the name?

  • rock your body rock by ferry corsten

the version in the movie is the "rennie pilgrim's hum remix", but the original is also madecent

  • Who are the producers of the track at deck 1?

    Thanks in advance

  • ferry corsten - rock your body rock

  • Blockbuster - you should be

  • can u compare this and virtual dj? if so which one is the better one?

  • Hi Brian, I'm thinking about buying serato live, but one thing that I need to know is, with normal vinyl you can see where the breaks are coming from looking at the grooves, and on high end CD Decks, ie CDJ 1000's you have a graphical representation of the track, so you know the structure. Is there anything in Serato that enables you to see this? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Naw man serato only lets u see like 2 secs in advance. Torq & Tracktor Scratch let u see the whole song. But Torq lets you hook up midi controlers and drum padfs like trigger finger and a MPD 24. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Serato lets you see the whole song too...
