No he is NOT he is a very smart guy he is true warrior putting aside his tour in Iraq .He left the military with an honorable discharge,etc and now he has put himself out there to say the truth he will lose his benefits,etc. I would take a bullet for a guy like that .We both served though I dont know him personally but unlike him I dont have the balls to put my benefits at risk. Adjusted for inflation, we spent more on Katrina than on the whole of Europe under the Marshall Plan. We rebuilt a continent that was battered by TOTAL war where we carpet bombed cities and busted the Ruhr Dams. Vsatly more devistation and yet all that money isn't enough. It also includes tax relief, which mostly goes to businesses- very generous though that the government wouldn't tax people who remain homeless years after being left for dead.

And remember, Clinton took the LOGCAP (the contract you guys piss and moan about all the time) award nullified and made it sole sourcce to Halliburton. That's even before Halliburton won LOGCAP II. Only a few firms could do that work, KBR, Bechtel, then it's French and Japanese firms. Not hard if you check yahoo for Halliburton's competitors in that industry.

IVAW via the VFP is a 501(3)c organization, so fishboyf51, you are correct, they don't pay taxes. One of their big arguements against war is that the money, i.e. taxes, are better spent on social programs (schools, hospitals, etc). But they don't pay taxes, so given their own logic (if you didn't serve in Iraq, shut up) they need to shut up about the cost of war.

I chatted thru yahoo messenger with a soldier currently in Iraq. He says that if a soldier speaks out against the war he's branded a "leftest" and subject to intimidation from more gung-ho type soldiers and criticism from superiors. In short, his life is made a hell.
