Please be very careful if you insist on using oxycodone. I nearly died from stupidly mixing it with alcohol. Oxy has a purpose in this world, it is a great painkiller. But it's a drug you have to respect and not abuse.

I've OD'ed twice and yes it is an accident. Maybe negligence but to get the ultimate high you walk the fine line of killing yourself to do it. I'm admitting myself into rehab at 10 in the morning. Enough is enough and I'm far beyond that.

I am on suboxone and my doc won't go near benzos, not because he thinks I will abuse them, but because they are very dangerous with opiates. That's what he tells me at least.

I take .25 mg xanax recreationally and I haven't done oxycontin or anything, but it is really not that big of a deal. I can't believe people put both drugs on the same level.
@kkjhhkjhkj No joke, xanax is way worse. Changes your mindset and makes you crazy. All opiates do at the proper dosage is create pain relief and euphoria. I can't say that they are less addictive though.
@dirtyd64w Xanax is a benzodiazepine, which have the same effect as alcohol in the brain (affects the neurotransmitter "GABA").like booze but without the hangover. Opiates are more dangerous because they slow down your bodies functions including breathing and heart rate to such a degree that in the amount taken for a recreational dosage is enough to make you stop breathing in your sleep. Benzos do this too but to a much lesser extent but the real danger is combing them...which is just stupid.

Hey all, I'm prescribed 360 80mg Oxycontin and 240 2mg Xanax bars a month and am willing to help anybody out who is in pain and needs some meds for real cheap but can't afford a doctor for whatever reason. I have a lot leftover which I'm not using. Send me a message on here if interested....
To add to that, out of all the people I know who do opiates, not one of them does the cold water extraction for hydrocodone or percocets, even the really addicted ones, they all just take them as pills because it's too much of a hassle to do all that and with no real benefit, and nobody has enough profit incentive to do it on a large scale and sell it.
oxycontin has saved my life. I am well aware that if you take to much that it could kill you just like advil may help you with a headache but if you took 1000 advil's you may die. Oxycontin is a very safe drug and for people that have long term pain it is the best
@kalzx You have not done enough research on the drug, Oxycontin is one of the most addictive drugs on the market, Id highly recommend trying to get a perscrip to pot first. How you define "safe" is your on illusion but it certainly is not a safe drug by any means. I use recreationally and i dont think its a "safe" drug, certainly not for everyone. I strongly believe this kid died of either heart failure or pnomonia which caused to breathing problems. Benzo and opiods should never be mixed. And to top off with beer. That is definite mixture of potential death. Please do not mix drugs. The results can be devestating.
I agree. It's sad to see these people overdosing on prescription drugs, but it's the individuals fault. It's in no way the companies fault. If you take Oxycontin as prescribed my your doctor you'll be perfectly fine. I took Oxycontin for 2 years, doctor lowered my dosage over time, put me on suboxone for a short period. No withdrawals. Been off all prescription drugs for a few months now. It's only the people doing it off the street who end up overdosing or losing their ass to the drug.
@jcorley2710 People will always do perscription drugs on the street though, human nature should be accounted for in the manufacturing of these drugs. All they'd have to do is change the binding agent so that oxy can't be smoked, snorted, or shot up, but they refuse to do so because it's more profitable to have thousands addicted than to not.
@truthseek18 like they do Suboxone, the added Naloxone is only there to keep people from doing the drug most other ways but sublingual. Although all you need to do is go grab some subutex to get around the Naloxone. Also tons of other ways to break down the pill and seperate the Naloxone so that you can inject. So therefore I don't really see changing the binding agents keeping someone from injecting those drugs.

The more people we have around contributing their ideas, the better society will be. @truthseek18 The only way to do that is to lace the pill with nalaxone but that will render the drug ineffective. The day you are stricken with pain that is chronic you will condem your own words. Take this fact into account. Intestinal bleeding caused by NSAIDS like Ibuprofen kill more than 10,000 people each year. Oxycontin OD deaths are only at about 400 since it was launched.
@laetrille Are you a pharmacologist? Do you make pills or something? If you change the inactive ingredients so that the pill burns up when put on foil or a spoon instead of not reacting, everybody that's prescribed it and takes it orally will feel no difference, only the abusers. You don't have to add active ingredients, to make it harder to abuse, and even if you could find ways to beat the countermeasures, it'd take more than a lighter and piece of foil to fuck your life up. Think of the kids.

@laetrille That'd still make it harder for me and other kids my age to get addicted. Oxycontin is already $40 for 80 milligrams in Northern California, and this is where it's cheap. If you make it so some chemist has to extract the oxycodone from it before it can be smoked, snorted, or shot up, the price would shoot even higher and even less kids would do it because it's more expensive and they can't be certain what's in the powdery mix the dealer claims is oxycodone.

Yes you can OD especially on OCs. And I wouldnt even bother with codeine because although its a bit less potent, it will still get you addicted. And once your hooked on OCs, there is no turning back. Trust me, you will be fighting it the rest of your life and it will ruin all aspects of your life. Is a little buzz really worth it? Ive been through it, and nothing good comes. Stick to weed.
thats right. the two together create a super drug that stops your heart and breathing. i did it once but luckily got found and resussitated. 480mg of oxy and 160mgf valium (similar to xanax). the withdrawals are indescribable. I was an oxycontin/heroin user for 8 years. Im 24 now and thank god I made it out of that horrible life. I had to wake up everyday and steal, lie, cheat and whatever else just to get money so I wouldnt be in withdrawal. It was the worst 8 years of my life. And it all stemmed from a surgery I had when I was 15. Thankfully I am now on Suboxone, it had saved my life. I highly suggest finding a suboxone doctor if you are struggling. This is a miracle drug for opiate addicts. You get your life back.

Believe it or not You hava very small chance of dying quitting/Detoxing Oxy cold turkey. Yes the withdraw is horrible BUT Xanax is a BENZO and IF you try to stop that cold turkey you CAN DIE from withdrawl via seziures/stroke. IM not an MD but look it up or ask your Doctor and confirm the that what I'm telling you is true.

thats true. a lot of people have seizures when detoxing off of xanax cold turkey without tapering down by a physician. if a doctor cuts you off cold turkey my advice would be to get to another doctor or a emergency room for some sort of help like checking into detox for it.

I'm currently w/ding on Oxycontin because I ran out of money but 3 80s is nothing to someone with a tolerance. I've taken 6 orally and snorted 2 all at the same time and been fine. You really start to build a tolerance after a while. I was averaging around 10 80s a day, my biggest day was 28 80s.
I wish I could continue forever as the drug normalized my life and cured my depression, but the cost is too high unless you win the lottery.

my cousin gannot died at age of 27 due to combination of methadone, oxycontin & xanax. He was in his bed sleeping and his 6 year old son asleep beside him. Image what went on when gannots brother and mother ran in there to him.

I've been taking oxycontin since 95 and only got into minor trouble ( caught with possession ). Never got too heavily addicted, whenever I felt like tollerance was going on I took a week vacation from the shit and then just dosed 50 mgs on the daily. I still have this little passtime. Take it responsibly, know your body, and dont get in over your head. If you don't have the money to fund a possible psychological addiction, dont dose. It's that simple. learn self-control or dont do oxy.

I am 21 years old, and sniffed my first OC(80) three years ago,my first year in college. I have since dropped out of school, gotten arrested a couple times, and working a shitty job that pays my habit pretty much. You never expect yourself to be the one who fucks up, but it just happens. I simply cant quit, the physical addiction is horrible, but even worse for me is the mental addiction, I get way too depressed and feel like nothing else is worth doing if im not high and feeling good, it sux.

oxycodone is synthetic heroin, and of course you won't die if you take it properly but like heroin you develop tolerance, if you take a small dose of heroin and you survive you can continue that dose and never die from it.
yeah but after a while, you'll feel nothing at all from it, because of tolerance. And OC isn't synthetic heroin, heroin itself is a synthetic opiate and oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid, but they are very close at least.

@dirtyd64w Xanax is a benzodiazepine, which have the same effect as alcohol in the brain (affects the neurotransmitter "GABA").like booze but without the hangover. Opiates are more dangerous because they slow down your bodies functions including breathing and heart rate to such a degree that in the amount taken for a recreational dosage is enough to make you stop breathing in your sleep. Benzos do this too but to a much lesser extent but the real danger is combing them...which is just stupid.

@rpm2004 And the bad thing is i have been prescribed xanex and lortab for 4 years until i had to get another doctor and now im on xan l t and roxie and my life is straight hell i wake up and snort oxy and all throughout the day and i cant sleep at night unless i drink a few beers and do at least 2 bars im tired of living like this and its hurting my family to they want to send me to rehab i always nod out in front of peolple not intentinelly.

To add to that, out of all the people I know who do opiates, not one of them does the cold water extraction for hydrocodone or percocets, even the really addicted ones, they all just take them as pills because it's too much of a hassle to do all that and with no real benefit, and nobody has enough profit incentive to do it on a large scale and sell it.

oxycontin has saved my life. I am well aware that if you take to much that it could kill you just like advil may help you with a headache but if you took 1000 advil's you may die. Oxycontin is a very safe drug and for people that have long term pain it is the best

@kalzx You have not done enough research on the drug, Oxycontin is one of the most addictive drugs on the market, Id highly recommend trying to get a perscrip to pot first. How you define "safe" is your on illusion but it certainly is not a safe drug by any means. I use recreationally and i dont think its a "safe" drug, certainly not for everyone. Please for the love of god stop repeating what your doctor tells you and find out for yourself....sheeple....

I strongly believe this kid died of either heart failure or pnomonia which caused to breathing problems. Benzo and opiods should never be mixed. And to top off with beer. That is definite mixture of potential death. Please do not mix drugs. The results can be devestating.

I agree. It's sad to see these people overdosing on prescription drugs, but it's the individuals fault. It's in no way the companies fault. If you take Oxycontin as prescribed my your doctor you'll be perfectly fine. I took Oxycontin for 2 years, doctor lowered my dosage over time, put me on suboxone for a short period. No withdrawals. Been off all prescription drugs for a few months now. It's only the people doing it off the street who end up overdosing or losing their ass to the drug.

@jcorley2710 People will always do perscription drugs on the street though, human nature should be accounted for in the manufacturing of these drugs. All they'd have to do is change the binding agent so that oxy can't be smoked, snorted, or shot up, but they refuse to do so because it's more profitable to have thousands addicted than to not.

@truthseek18 like they do Suboxone, the added Naloxone is only there to keep people from doing the drug most other ways but sublingual. Although all you need to do is go grab some subutex to get around the Naloxone. Also tons of other ways to break down the pill and seperate the Naloxone so that you can inject. So therefore I don't really see changing the binding agents keeping someone from injecting those drugs.

@truthseek18 The only way to do that is to lace the pill with nalaxone but that will render the drug ineffective. The day you are stricken with pain that is chronic you will condem your own words. Take this fact into account. Intestinal bleeding caused by NSAIDS like Ibuprofen kill more than 10,000 people each year. Oxycontin OD deaths are only at about 400 since it was launched.

If you change the inactive ingredients so that the pill burns up when put on foil or a spoon instead of not reacting, everybody that's prescribed it and takes it orally will feel no difference, only the abusers. You don't have to add active ingredients, to make it harder to abuse, and even if you could find ways to beat the countermeasures, it'd take more than a lighter and piece of foil to fuck your life up. Think of the kids.

@laetrille That'd still make it harder for me and other kids my age to get addicted. Oxycontin is already $40 for 80 milligrams in Northern California, and this is where it's cheap. If you make it so some chemist has to extract the oxycodone from it before it can be smoked, snorted, or shot up, the price would shoot even higher and even less kids would do it because it's more expensive and they can't be certain what's in the powdery mix the dealer claims is oxycodone.

Yes you can OD especially on OCs. And I wouldnt even bother with codeine because although its a bit less potent, it will still get you addicted. And once your hooked on OCs, there is no turning back. Trust me, you will be fighting it the rest of your life and it will ruin all aspects of your life. Is a little buzz really worth it? Ive been through it, and nothing good comes. Stick to weed.

thats right. the two together create a super drug that stops your heart and breathing. i did it once but luckily got found and resussitated. 480mg of oxy and 160mgf valium (similar to xanax). the withdrawals are indescribable. I was an oxycontin/heroin user for 8 years. Im 24 now and thank god I made it out of that horrible life. I had to wake up everyday and steal, lie, cheat and whatever else just to get money so I wouldnt be in withdrawal. It was the worst 8 years of my life. And it all stemmed from a surgery I had when I was 15. Thankfully I am now on Suboxone, it had saved my life. I highly suggest finding a suboxone doctor if you are struggling. This is a miracle drug for opiate addicts. You get your life back.

Believe it or not You hava very small chance of dying quitting/Detoxing Oxy cold turkey. Yes the withdraw is horrible BUT Xanax is a BENZO and IF you try to stop that cold turkey you CAN DIE from withdrawl via seziures/stroke. thats true. a lot of people have seizures when detoxing off of xanax cold turkey without tapering down by a physician. if a doctor cuts you off cold turkey my advice would be to get to another doctor or a emergency room for some sort of help like checking into detox for it.

I'm currently w/ding on Oxycontin because I ran out of money but 3 80s is nothing to someone with a tolerance. I've taken 6 orally and snorted 2 all at the same time and been fine. You really start to build a tolerance after a while. I was averaging around 10 80s a day, my biggest day was 28 80s.
I wish I could continue forever as the drug normalized my life and cured my depression, but the cost is too high unless you win the lottery.

I hate these people that think oxy is the problem. The only problem with this drug is that it is being taken by people who it isnt perscribed by. OxyContin is a MIRACLE drug for me! I wouldnt be able to walk or function without, and I thank god and Purdue Pharma for creating it! Like the other dude said, "If your going to take it, RESEARCH it on the internet with you cell phone that every kid has these days" Its very unfortunate that this happened, but dont MIX drugs you know NOTHING about!

If cannabis was legalized people would not have to go to a criminal who is likely dealing harder drugs to obtain the cannabis.
People would have to go out of their way to find a dealer to obtain the harder drugs, and would not be introduced to the drugs when trying to obtain harmless cannabis.
Of course there will still be people who seek out harder stuff, but they wont be as attractive to a social drug user.

CORRECT!! The problem isnt with Oxy. If anyone is going to blame the drug, the blame should be pointed at Xanax!! I dont agree with blaming the drug, but I've had a couple friends, and a couple people I didnt know that well, die, or be placed in the hospital because they mixed something other than oxy with Xanax. For instance, a friend mixed Xanax with Alcohol and died. Xanax is bad shit if you're not perscribed it, but is a great drug for those who need it!!

I've been taking oxycontin since 95 and only got into minor trouble ( caught with possession ). Never got too heavily addicted, whenever I felt like tollerance was going on I took a week vacation from the shit and then just dosed 50 mgs on the daily. I still have this little passtime. Take it responsibly, know your body, and dont get in over your head. If you don't have the money to fund a possible psychological addiction, dont dose. It's that simple. learn self-control or dont do oxy.

I am 21 years old, and sniffed my first OC(80) three years ago,my first year in college. I have since dropped out of school, gotten arrested a couple times, and working a shitty job that pays my habit pretty much. You never expect yourself to be the one who fucks up, but it just happens. I simply cant quit, the physical addiction is horrible, but even worse for me is the mental addiction, I get way too depressed and feel like nothing else is worth doing if im not high and feeling good, it sux.

yes, but i would just like to say that what we need to do to help us in tough times is to pray to our Lord and Savior for help, mercy, and comfort. the Lord can bring us through any tough times, and when we rely on him for this, we can overcome any obstacle that brings us down.

It is sad how people can die from drugs like this, and some are good people lost because of this, but people need to stop abusing medicine like this, people OD'ing like this make the DEA have to crack down on prescription drugs and people using them, and now doctors are not prescribing the drugs nearly as much due to them not wanting to be responsible for mis diagnosis and giving addicts narcotics-- this makes it harder for those REALLY need the drugs, those who have LEGITIMATE and SEVERE pain.

I learned first hand.. although I was lucky enough to have great doctors that kept me alive in intensive care on life support, im here today and have learned, accidents happen. I didnt mean for what happened to happen to me.. I didnt believe It could.. but after a near death experience I know now, What those two drugs can do for you!

Most of the comments here are very disturbing indeed. There is hugh ignorance and lack of factual understanding of oxycontin here and a complete disregard for the genuine pain patients who are precribed the drug to control their unrelenting pain eg cancer pain. By making these comments you are doing a huge dis-service to these genuine pain suffers all over the world who are put on these meds for effective pain relief and for no other reason..think!

its very hard to overdose on oxycontin alone but used in conjunction with benzos and alcohol its a serious risk. that being said im now about to blast a couple of eighties! YUMMy

I personally know 4 people that have died from accidental overdose on oxycontin in the past 2 years. It does kill and I can't wait until the day it is taken off the market. How many people have to die before this shit stops?

oxycodone is synthetic heroin, and of course you won't die if you take it properly but like heroin you develop tolerance, if you take a small dose of heroin and you survive you can continue that dose and never die from it.

yeah but after a while, you'll feel nothing at all from it, because of tolerance. And OC isn't synthetic heroin, heroin itself is a synthetic opiate and oxycodone is a semi-synthetic opioid, but they are very close at least.

oxycontin can kill just like fentanyl,morphine,dilaudid,or cocaine.These drugs(other than coke)are for severe pain and are not to be toyed with.
