  • I recall the company that did the bad maintenance tried to blame the design of the plane itself, and the crash hurt DC-10 sales. McDonnell Douglas never recovered and was eventually bought out by Boeing. Horrible day, most of all for the people on the plane :(

  • There is another You Tube video that explains a deeper investigation into the crash. Investigators found that torn off engine caused the loss of the plane's hydraulic fluid which retracted the slats and made it impossible to fly the plane.

  • Great effort by the pilot. But engine gone and leading edge of wing damaged is certainly interrupting air flow. Full of fuel so early after takeoff..... Just a bad combination to overcome.

  • @JUSTREALCOOL But check the full report... AA's manual mandated a 14 degree climb attitude after one engine was lost on take-off but no one considered that the loss could be a separation with asymmettrical slat retraction; had the climb angle been kept lower, allowing an airspeed in excess of the 159 kts threshold, the flight could have been brought back for a safe landing, but the pilots had no way of knowing what had actually happened... Too damn bad....

  • Damn!!! 191 is an un-lucky Number. You'd think they would retire numbers of planes that had crashed and killed people.

  • holy shit

  • Nice explosion at the end...

  • bad quality and it was nothin the pilot could do about it

  • THAT WAS THE BEST CG ACTION IV EVER SEEN RIP THOUGH

  • Apparently, back then the DC10's had on board tv's that showed the actual take off. It is possible that the passengers were watching what was happening to their plane. How terrifying and heartbreaking. It was NOT the pilots fault.

  • @cdngal75 ohhh shett damnnnnnnnnnnnn its noe way in hell them ppls lived. godly i rather die drownng then in air. abort abort!

  • Their fucking engine blew off..... how could they not know???

  • @usernamen0tfound

have you ever flown a plane?

if you have u probably nvr flown a 747 u cant possibly see althe way back to the wing, and most pilots dont know what its like to have a engine fall off. they know how a engine failure feels like, and this was probably pretty close to that same feeling

  • Juggle the numbers of Delta flight 191 and AA flight 191 and you have 911. Incredible coincidence or was that a sign of things to come.

  • @LGLG69 Coincidence. I don't think the terrorists had those two accidents in mind when they planned the attack.

  • @robg5555 I just meant was it a "sign" as the saying goes.

  • Why isn't there more to this video shown here?

  • oh great quality

  • @slomocod your right I can't stop eathwr

  • @alphax100 your right

  • The pilots? Is he died?

  • @KESTRELLLLL everyone died of course

  • they should make ecsape seats that shoot out into the sky with parachutes in every plane made, if im lucky enough to make a plane company il add that feature to every single plane, if they do it to fighter jets, then they should do it for passenger jets, even tho it would cost alot

  • @johnmunoz18 Yep, increase your flight costs by about $600 per trip. And wont work either at this altitude. What an idiot. Please get some facts and education before showing the world what an idiot you are.

  • @bill45colt shut up nigger, im trying to be intuitive

  • @johnmunoz18

Good Idea But What About If You Where At 30,000FT You Would Either Suffocate or Freeze To Death.

  • @12SamHughes then the airline should supply you with oxygen tanks and thermal suits!

  • @johnmunoz18

    mmmmm what about the parachute

  • @12SamHughes a sign will come up infront of your seat saying "Please look under your seat and pick up the parachute" and the passenger will strap it on, then BOOM your in the sky. BUt in the begining of the flight the flight attendeants will show you how to use it!

  • Explosion is fake.

  • i would try to land on the field

  • American didn't purchase an additional stick shaker for the right seat. When they lost the engine, the primary instruments for the captain were inoperable. they could have reset them by pushing as circuit breaker, instead they utilized the 1st officers instruments. the copilot was flying the plane, he reduced speed, induced a stall, didn't have a stick shaker and crashed the plane.

  • @Nicksblog I'm all SouthWest

  • they shouldn't have tried to gain altitude... Bringing throttles to idle and trying to land on the field ahead would have been a better chance of survival.

  • @madzane94 Easy to say now, in that time they couldnt know how badly their plane was damaged.

  • Allegedly DIA 16 mm was holding the rear bracket of the engine! And broke! Fucked design!

  • WHY AM I INTERESTED ABOUT PLANE CRASHES?? i cant stop watching more =P

  • @SloMoCod SAME HERE!!!!

  • @SloMoCod because it leads you to play FSX.

  • @SloMoCod me too!!!

  • @SloMoCod me to

  • @SloMoCod May I suggest you go watch the Titanic sinking? It's much better than all these bloody airplanes crash and burn...

...WHAT THE HELL AM I SAYING???

  • it seems behind error and weather most plane crashes are companies saving money by not servicing properly or at all their planes..

  • I would NEVER fly American Airlines. They suck!

  • you gotta understand this was years ago plane crashes are rare dnt worry ppl.

  • this is why i dont get on planes and never will .... hello cruise shipp .. sho at least i can swim if the boat sinks ... getting in a plane crash is the scariest thing

  • @najahmcbryde

plain crashes are news because they are the exception. what is really frightening is the probability to crash on land with cars...seriously, flying is the safest way to travel

  • The DC-10 is a great plane. Thats just what happens when you spell safety with a $

  • victory for private industry, always saving money at the expense of safety.

  • ow i felt that

  • the reason why the plane banked and couldn't recover with maximum aileron and rudder it is because with a flap on one side, with the flap on the left side retracted, the plane banked uncontrollably unless someone could retract the right wing flap

  • Ummm hello why didn't you try to get out the plane?! better than blowing up and DYING

  • how the fuck are ment to get out jesus

  • @Zenigundam well it's hard to stop a plane that big since by the time they start lifting off the ground they are to far to stop in time so they would crash anyway

  • "damn" - pilot

  • I so remembered when that happened. I actually was on a flight bound for LAX 2 days later. I was on leave from a Military Academy in WI when that happened. Man did I have the shits when we took off from the very same runway and seeing the crash site below was pretty heart wrenching.

  • It happened Memorial Day Weekend 1979. The engine took out their Hydraulic System,so they had no control of the plane.FAA grounded all DC10s for almost a year.

  • what is shocking is that, the disaster could have been avoided during the maintenace procedures

  • Man, some of you ppl are just so stupid

  • you r dumb if u dont beleave its real

  • this happened b4 i was born but its still creepy since i live an hour away

  • well it will be nice if the faa enforce 2 all planes 2 have a camera out side the plane where thee pilots can view the plane in side the cockkpit!

  • @Toniindahaus1 U cant land right away because the plane is fully loaded with fuel that should have been burned off during flight .landing means excess weight, means crash and they couldnt do anything their to low

  • Damn, what a way to die.

  • it looks fake , but its real cos it was on tv. cos H which stands for history is a tv channel

  • fifimomo717:

".. its real cos it was on tv "

Lol! The opposite is true. Nothing on tv is real. You should realize that tv and reality is not the same. and history channel is less real that you think. its biased stories.

  • @WolYou No that actually happened this is probably just a dramitization maybe on like the show "Mayday" you never know man.

  • Airlines cutting maintenance costs by short cutting procedures. What a crime.

  • shame on you lot.

  • The explosion was fake.

  • its a simulation of an actual incidence, pay a little respect will you

  • what is this show call?

  • Fake! it's a reconstruction of events. Your probably one of these morbid people who wants to see the real thing.

  • Unapproved alright, they were using forklifts to install engines and one cracked a pylon flange. The killed them because they didn't like the time consuming sling gear. They should try working on french aircraft for a while.

  • Does anyone know what it was that made the left engine fall off?

  • Incorrect engine removal procedures cracked the mounting bolt bosses that held the engine pylon to the wing. Maintenance crews were supposed to remove the engine from the pylon, then the pylon from the wing. They were using an unapproved method of removing both at once.

  • oh god i am goin to the dominican republic in july 24

  • Don't worry the accident happened at the JFK airport. Flying still the most secure method of transportation. Have some Presidente and Barcelo rum, have a good vacation.

  • aw thanks i am better know

  • is this delta? plane

  • when i saw it was a DC-10 American airlines this the one when the left engine fell down...

  • idk if i give 5 stars cos its a gr8 dokumentation

or just 1 cos its a terribble disaster ;(

  • This plane crash was the pilot's fault. He did not know to speed the plane up so it wouldn't stall. Pour people :(

  • Pilot's fault?! What the heck are you talking about?

Why don't you do a bit of research before you falsely insult this good pilot who lost his life. There was nothing he could have done.

  • @Dystopiologist

youre very correct..!how can this be the pilot's fault?

he lost his life nd youre blaming him.?

    crap.!poor pilot

  • @Dystopiologist this is the airline's fault i think. i believe that they should have spent more on trying to maintain their plane. pilots can only do so much. I think engines should be easier to check so that when a plane is sitting to take on passengers or has some extended down time, a crew should check all major systems of the aircraft

  • @chillaxer1993

It was indeed the airlines' fault. If I remember correctly, maintenence tried to cut corners while removing and refitting the left engine, damaging the mounting in the process. When the engine ripped off, that wing lost hydraulic fluid, causing the flaps to retract on that side only. At that point, there was nothing they realistically could have done.

  • If I were a pilot, i would stop the engine, try to glide the plane and slowly land it. I think would be interesting to put gears up if the landing space is irregular.

  • If were the pilot, I would have said "SHIT!: as I tried to kick a window out and jumped!

  • hahaahhahahahahahahah thats funny

  • Comment removed

  • i laughed at what panhead1219 said ok i did not laugh at the crash ok sweety

  • Comment removed

  • we shouldn't be focusing on the animation, but the accident...

  • THE ANIMATION SUCKS!!!!

  • it can suck my dick

  • hahah ur right

  • wut is the connection between the plane crash and your dick?????

  • u 2 re noobs. this was reconstruction of this accident ...

  • its optional but also suicidal.. the air pressure proof doors wont open and the speeds will accelerate you from 0 to 800 km/h

  • huh? 0 to 800km/h? actually there would be a deacceleration.

  • thats what i meant XD

  • wat the hell ya doin guys check the damn plane

  • that why the inspecters need 2 look at every inch on the aircraft befor it is cleared for takeoff so things like that could be avoided

  • yes but in some situations parashutes would help

  • no..paracHutes wouldnt help.. grit your teeth and pray

  • In this crash paracutes wouldn't help.

  • @Loocas77 how the fk the chute is gonna help? r u gonna jump from 40 feet?some people are so stupid!

  • They should put paracutes for everyperson in the planes

  • FlyGirlz2

what an idiot u are, i must insult u!

    dear god!!

  • is this real cause it seems like its cartoon

  • YES! YES! YES!

How do you not know that this was a real plane crash?

Are you even a plane enthusiast?

Yes this is a cartoon, but it's a show showing a simulation of what happened to Flight 191.

  • thanks!!! are people in the plane crashes acting too?

  • It's a show, so yes ALL people are acting...

  • and ur actually 19, friends34567

    god help u...

  • Also flight 191?? ...

  • Ouche.. so.. the passengers went into the plane, the plane started to fly and a thing of the wings had broken and it crashed ?

    That's horrible.

  • Im kinda scared to go on planes its like BOOM onece it barely touches something

  • American Airlines Flight 191 not Delta 191

  • No, what I think twoeyes meant was that there have been 2 flight 191 that have crashed. This one was AA and DC10. The other one was a L1011 from Delta

  • That was a very cheap explosion.

  • This video is messed up because this accindent happeed in the 70s and at the begining u can see a Delta airlines boeing 737-800 which was out for purchase in 1998.

  • The video is not messed up.

It's just showing a plane taxiing. It's not trying to show Flight 191!

  • I remember I was 6 years old, and I was at my grandprarents house when this came over the news.

  • whcih year did this happen?

  • 1979

  • oh man i live half an hour away from o hare :O

  • So there were two DC-10s that crashed, both called Flight 191?

  • the delta one was an L 10 11

  • I remember when this happened back in 79. Everbody then said "don`t fly the DC-10!"

But it was AA`s false maintainance that made this plane crash.

Allthough this plane was a workhorse and one of the best at that time, it hardly recovered from the reputation.

  • was dis dA US AIRQways flite dat jus crashed im trin to find da video on it is dis da one

  • first, learn to spell, second, i think it would say "US Airways" instead of Delta smart one

  • I thought that one united airlines flight did this at o'hare

  • this is the very flight but a remake. it didnt crash wing tip ist it hit slammed into the ground at over 280knots and desinergrated

  • That is sad i can't believe they got that far up in the air and didn't notice those poor people were more in likely like what the hell is going on and looked out the window and said oh shit. I would be scared poor people.

  • American was fined 500,000 dollars but their insurance paid them $25,000,000. So that's 24.5 million in profit. I am not sure if the guy who made the decision to use a faulty maintenance procedure that caused this accident actually got promoted.

  • You're fucking ignorant! What is everything a fucking conspiracy with people? 100+ people lost there lives, the company lost a hundred some million dollar plane and you're saying they did it themselves?

  • I am sure it wasn't a conpiracy. However, with the financial penalty being nothing more than a token gesture, where is the incentive to do better? Hundreds of lives were lost and no one was held accountable.

We need to start holding companys accountable for their actions or it will just happen again. I don't mean just plane crashes, but dikes underdesigned in New Orleans, Bridges that collapse after ten years, balconies that fall after a few years, etc. etc.

  • the financial fine from the FAA is nothing conpared to what they would pay in lawsuits due to the failure of due dilligence.

plus, since AA just lost an airplane, they would have to use insurance to buy the replacement. Certainly no profit.

    Details details.

  • Why would the engines be designed so close to the ground? Any slightest movement while beginning takeoff after 80 knots can cause extreme danger as seen in this video.. Notice right before the engine came off the wing slightly tipped down to the left and the engine touched the ground and came off....

  • The design is perfectly safe. This accident happened because American used more "direct" method for servicing engines. They did not follow the manufactures recommended procedure and slowly created damage to the area which supports the engine. It finally couldn't hold any longer on this flight and finally gave. American airlines was fined $500,000.00 for not following the correct procedure....other airliners were using the same technique and had their aircraft grounded.

  • it will B a good idea if,the pilots can see the Acft from out side, how?by installing vidio cameras from the out side of the planes and, that will help a lotof help 2 determine the damage but,the air liners R cheap!

  • Remake??... idiot

  • how many survived?

  • none

  • oh:(

    thats sad.

  • I used to fly pretty often to different branch offices in different cities. My secretaries all observed that at the start of each trip,I would clear my desk and update notes on outstanding work making sure that should I never return, everything is ready for a successor to take over. They never asked but they knew I had a fear of flying of sorts.

  • did they survive?....

  • shrt cuts lead 2 didaster,i think FAA should enforce video cameras in the cockpit so that the pilot can see the wings engine and, fuselage of the plane as well the passangers!what you pilots think of my idea?

  • would it really matter?

  • dove?

  • Another example of how dangerous and how crash prone Doglas planes are . Never fly whit them if you want to live longer than that flight trip.

  • As a Delta flight attendant I am appauled at the ludicous comments made. This is a simulated video of a terrible crash. You people are pathectic. Many of my friends and "family" were on this flight. Shame on you.

  • I agree these morons out here have NO RESPECT at all good Lord sometimes I hate being on this site

  • That explosion looks so fake to be honest.

  • YES JAJAJA TO FAKE I AGREE LOL

  • Of course it's fake. It's a simulation you idiot from Uranus!

  • the explosion looks so fake

  • no duh its fake it waz computrizd kuz they tryd 2 du da exact thing dat happend

  • lol

  • No wind shear. Just a mechanical failure.

  • This is a video about one of the worst air disasters EVER, and the comments posted have nothing to do with it...why dont you take your petty arguments somewhere else and have some respect for the 271 dead people of the crash!

  • damn

  • You're welcome.

  • your welcome? for what?
