  • jim dandy....!!!!!

  • brilliant

  • She had a fantastic voice!Yeah!

  • If Amy Winehouse was smart she would do a Lavern Baker cover. LIke Soul of Fire or this one.

  • if only she knew.................

  • Amy who...?

  • this song is so powerful and lavern is such a sexy and great singer of the 50's

  • Oh shes so happy now when we are sitting here in this computer-age and still love her to death!

  • fabulous

  • has anyone ever heard the other side to this JIM DANDY

    LaVern Baker & The Gliders - 1956 ?

  • why do so many poxy shows force incredible talented artists like this to fucking mime and make em look phoney when they are the dogs ballox,,

she looks uncomfortable with this silly concept,,

GOD BLESS HER INTEGRITY MAN !!

  • I used to do competion jive and just watching those 50's rockers and listening to that song made me want to spring from my chair!

  • her voice was a boomin one. miss singers like her, real sangers.

  • thank you for putting some great stuff on youtube aithough I get to listen to a lot of this type of music at rocknroll dances and I have got loads myself it is always nice to see someone else has got good taste again thanks alot it appreciated

  • Whoooo...LaVern Baker and Ruth Brown. They don't come better. I heard somewhere that she went to Thailand of all countries in the 80's. Is she still alive?

  • March 10, 1997: LaVern Baker died in New York, NY.

  • Ahh...sorry to hear that she passed away 8 yrs ago. R.I.P

  • These are the Real Kings and Queens of Rock n Roll.

  • FACT: LaVern Baker and Big Joe Turner created ATLANTIC RECORDS thanks to their hits, which they were paid NOTHING for, just the $500 to record. This lady is special.

  • I think that Ruth Brown had something to do with creating Atlantic Records. It was due to her hits that Atlantic Records used to be known as 'the house that Ruth built'.

  • have fun kids it goes by fast

  • So true...I'm 67 now and I remember danceing to this at the sock hops in 1957...Thanks for the memories!!

    We're crossing the finish line...sob

  • Ain't THAT the truth!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ACE!

  • love it ktf dave d

  • the queen of rocknroll

  • Even though its easy to tell she is lip synching, she still expresses visualy that energy you get when you play that song or the original Jim Dandy for the first time and the second time and on and on.

  • I remeber this song and those white kids arent doing anything with it .I went to a party with my sister and they wore the house out when that song played in the 50s.

  • top class rockroll singer / more more

  • one of the leading ladies of rock n roll. love her.

  • i love her music

  • This is LaVern's soundalike follow-up "Jim Dandy Got Married." According to Marv Goldberg, ""Jim Dandy" was such a big hit, that Lincoln Chase was commissioned to do a follow-up. Lavern's next release was 'Jim Dandy Got Married,' which expresses the theme that it's easier to rescue women than to be married to them. This made it to the (US) R&B Top Ten, but climbed no higher than #76 on the (US) Pop charts."

  • Tweedle Dee is my favorite Lavern Baker song

Does anyone have the video for it?

  • Do a YouTube search for the video titled "Dr Jive's RnB Show" and you'll find a performance of Tweedlee Dee by LaVern as well as some other amazing '50s jive acts, including Gator Tail Jackson. I can't believe he appeared on coast-to-coast national television on a Sunday night. CRAZY, MAN, CRAZY!

  • RIP Lavern.
