She has very "loud" hands(Thats what I call them) She should try keeping her hands a bit more still, but still moving with the horse. And she does need to sit more back.

I agree. It was basically just her horse auto piloting it around the course, she wasn't doing anything to help him that's for sure, hence the getting dumped on the fence part.

Same thing happened to my friend except it was worse she actually landed on the jump then the horse almost jumped over her  It was at CHSA state finals to so it really sucked cuase it wasnt her warmup!

Also, why the hell is she jumping it in a standing martingale. A big no-no for jumping as it does not enable the horse to stretch or round its back

Whoever gave the girl the impression she was ready to jump is to blame in this clip. She has a very poor seat. Almost non existent rein contact, no leg aids before the fence, her stirrups are too long she doesnt fold over th fence. The horse stopped from a slow canter, maybe 8-10 mph and yet she flew over its head...she had no balance at all. I have taught riding for 11 years. IMO she was barely ready to canter,let alone jump.God bless her for having a school master who jumped as many as he did!

No, the rider looks like she had a hard time directing that horse. She looked very stiff, and horses feel that. Anytime you ride a horse, you could get hurt. If you cant take the pain then dont ride.

well she was leaning too far forward. her shoulders were in front of the vertical. she had no chance of staying on. hope she learned her lesson and will sit a bit further back in future!
