What's even worse is that most Americans don't support scientific research because it's considered a waste of tax dollars. What we need is someone to make it clear to the people that these studies are essential and not a waste. Unfortunately otherwise intelligent Republicans use these silly facts to emphasize how DC spends too much. If we eliminated the oil depletion allowance, taxed churches, and eliminated corporate tax breaks we could pay for every program, and then some.
