Habs up 2-0 in a series=bad thing. When they've done that going back to 1996, they're a combined 3-14 in the following games in that series. Ghastly! They recovered to win in 2008 but blew three of the others, two being with 4 straight losses (96 vs. Rangers, 06 vs. Carolina) and three home losses in there. Bell Centre has great atmosphere but is the antithesis of the Forum for playoff success. Something about old buildings was harder to play in. Modern ones are all the same unfortunately.
@ElvarSlayer Did you see him after he left? He was awful with Ottawa then the Pens. I think the phrase should be "Why did he leave us?" It seemed he took his ball and went home. Ottawa offered him less per year but an extra year so he took it. He left Montreal over that!? Then he spent the next season pining for Montreal, saying to the media how he'd miss playing there and how much he loved the town. Could've done the right thing and retired a Hab but sulked and put contract ahead of his heart.
as good a player as alex is,or rather was, he wasted as much natural talent as any player of the last 20 years. that he has never had a 50-goal or 100-point season is almost beyond comprehension. he's gotten by on natural talent in order to put up decent numbers. a player with his skills should have put up superstar numbers. he's an exasperating player. i am a rangers fan and can only say that his inability to keep things simple and just make the normal plays drove me up a tree.
@dzanier Kovalev is what you'd get if you created a Mario, Gretzky or Jagr clone in a lab but made sure to give them the bare minimum amount of brains, heart and drive. Kovalev did not use those for even 25% of the games he played in the league. Had he given twice the effort, he would've been a Hall of Fame player for sure. Was the Habs biggest gamebreaking forward since Naslund probably, but didn't bring it enough. Oh well, still owned that Montreal crowd in the palm of his hand.
Rarely will you see a shot from that angle ever find the back of the net. You either need to get lucky or you need to be able to pick a spot so small only few players could do it.
Why did he have to leave to Ottawa....Im preety damn sure if he would of stayed with montreal for a Mill less.....we would have him instead of Gomez and we would of won the cup last year.....Imagine....Plec Kovy n CAmmi= DEATH!
Cheers Alex. - Ты один из крутейших россиян в НХЛ. - It's a pity Bykov disregards you. - Alex go kick some ass with the Senators! - Greets from Latvia
@TheGamegangsta2 Well Cammalleri finished with the most goals in the playoffs and played one less round. Gionta scored many goals too and Gomez was Gomez...
Le but de vos Canadiens, son premier des séries compté par le #27, Canadiens goal, his first of the playoffs scored by the number #27, ALEX KO-VAL-EV !
No i just remember that play when he faked being hurt in 04 and it came back to bite him in the ass. He is good im not denying that although much better last year then this year.
"to the blue-line and Markov slipped it ahead, Kovalev FiReS! SCORES!!! Kovalev has won the game on that bullet shot!!!" WOW! WHAT A FUCKIN' LETHALLY PRECISE SHOT!!
Another great call by Bob Cole, let's hear either Jim Hughson, Gary Thorne or Doc Emerick top THAT!!!
HNIC/CBC's coverage of The Stanley Cup Finals will never be the same without both Bob Cole AND Harry Neale calling it.
Fuck ABC/ESPN, NBC and Versus in the ass!!! They will never beat HNIC/CBC's legendary coverage, and oh yeah, their intemission shows here in the States can't even come close to "Coach's Corner" with Don Cherry and Ron McLean!!!
Absolutely agree. It's just not the same watching Saturday night hockey without Bob Cole's legendary voice. He can turn an average game, and make it sound like an epic one.
The only other person I'd be able to watch hockey with is Joe Bowen, because I'm biased. Other than that, Bob Cole is a legend and HNIC without him just isn't the same.

Kovalev was probably one of the most dangerous players on the powerplay. If you give him ANY room he will put the puck in.

I will definitely miss this guy, Sens fans are so lucky even if he did openly say he still wants to retire a hab :(
