The anatomy of the building was complex. Three separate structures that were inherently free standing, all collapsed in tandem. Odd.

In the case of the WTC, the impact of the plane probably knocked off some of the insulating material.  Thus, the steel beams expanded and warped, and the trusses could no longer hold the weight and it collapsed.

First, the speed of the collapse renders this explanation invalid. Also, despite the use of the phrase "pancake collapse" there was not a stack of the building's floors remaining on the ground. The load baring steel, plain and simple, would put up far more resistance to a collapse at a weak point, and the outer casing would have resisted at a differential.
