  • looks better than a beluga,any day...

  • 747LCF: Its not a toomah!

  • what you see here is the love child of a 747 and A380.....

  • soft and smooth landing

  • uhhh, that thing looks like the Frankenstein of 747s!

  • shit spelled weight wrong.

  • Someone's gained some wait. *wink*

  • This plane isn't so ugly for me. With its much more usefull internal area than normal 747, this plane couldn't be slightly redesigned to have better aerodynamic and two floors as the Airbus A-380 and be used to transport passengers ?

  • @LeoAndRas OR freight for FEDEX or UPS?

  • you can you see the old air force one when the 747 is landing,

  • It isn't the "old Air Force One"; the plane is a new 747 made especially to be flown to Taipei for modification to the LCF. See that white section? That's the section which will be removed for the new freight section.

  • Hold on.... i think it was!

  • Didnt the 747 first test flight look like that?

    (look it up) =) thanks

  • Hello, who can write me, how much dreamlifters in fleet boeing have ?

  • now 4

  • Thanks:)

  • the antonov...the beluga... well they don't look great but they got their own unique lookst... the A380... think its fairly cool lookin for a chunk of a plane... now the 747..i dun hav anythin against it... but the LCF..now seriously that's an ugly plane...!!! interesting though....

  • was it the voice of the ATIS ??

  • Yes!

  • looks like a fat 747

  • Thats because it is you wally

  • so they made a plane in the making of a plane ? wierd

  • This airplane can't really fly, it's just so ugly that the earth's gravitational pull repells it.

  • lol compared to the A380, which is basically a flying whale.

  • Wow. I cannot make out what the tower controller was saying.

  • That is the weirdest plane. It looks like a green whale!

  • haha you should c the airbus beluga its even worse

  • yeah but they'll paint it properly. its only green cos its not finished yet. but its pretty ugly.

  • Obviously its empty, but it still seemed like a pretty short take-off/landing distance given the size of it.

  • jeeeezus it looks like that thing has down syndrom

  • wow but not enough space like te airbus 600-300 plane but i thing boeing will be matched with it

  • WHAT NOP! compare regular 747 and a300 which is bigger 747 is bigger! go on wikipedia and compare their length, height, wingspan, etc. the airbus beluga is on 2 engines come on COMMOM SENSE.

  • boeing has never copied airbus its always them copying boeing. the a380 is copying the 747 and the a350 is the 787

  • Dont be too sure the planes arent out yet...

  • yeah thats true

  • rutgersfan. That's not true. Both companies are responsible for many innovations. Airbus pioneered fly by wire airliners (A320), twin engine wide body (A300), carefree handling control law and dispersed production facilities linked by air - all of which are features of the 787.

It's simply not true to say Airbus copied Boeing or vice-versa. They build planes to compete with and improve upon their opponents design but this doesn't mean they're copying. Real copying would be industrial espionage.

  • nice plane!!!!

  • That's some phat jet mon.

  • Mitsubishi I thought made the wings for Boeing..?

  • it looks like a big pickle lol

  • Wasn't this thing built at Boeing Moscow?

  • No, designed by Boeing studio Moscow, built in Taiwan by EGAT (Eva Air Group)!

  • what is that body armmer ?

  • If i was boeing, i would have just perm-a-leased the 2 An-225s for this job.

AND YES! i know the second An-225 isn't up and running yet

  • Airbus A300-600ST = A fat pregnant whale with a huge tumor in her head!

  • A good idea is just that, a good idea. Not everyone can reinvent the wheel.

I suspect that both companies and wanted to modify there own airplanes because they could source there own replacement parts for them at cost.

If Boeing would have bought the Airbus A300-600ST they would have been at the mercy of Airbus and their suppliers for replacement parts and if you don't think Airbus wouldn't use that to there advantage you are naive.

  • Dude, they didn't do it to copy Airbus. It was to have a 747 cargo plane to fit parts for the 787.

  • its the mommy of the 787 it carries the wings or fuselage

  • Go look at the final painted version of it. It looks cool. 747-400 oh yeah.

  • I love this plane :D

    LONG LIVE BOEING :)

  • i don^t se that aircraft so ugly!.. just a little..haha..by the way,thats a monster!.

  • Thats a fat pig not an aircraft

  • i see that plane and other boeing planes all the time because i live next to the main plant plus i get to see the 787 first takeoff

  • It looks like an anaconda that swallowed a pig.

  • Omg.. That airplane look like shit!

  • yea i know

  • i todd its a compination with a Airbus A380 and the boeing 747-400

  • thats a horrble plane

  • It's so ugly :-!

  • this plane is ugly but if you look at belugah from airbus it isnt ugly at all...belugah is the worst plane ever haha

  • Boeing immitate airbus for cut and paste design. Ha..ha...ha..

  • I wonder if the landing gear could hold the plane's weight

  • What a Mess is this for real Boeing what are you doing :o(

  • Yuck, what a ugly aircraft. It looks like hot-dog!!!

  • Boeing 777 GE90s are the most powerful.

  • Im not sure I thought the GenX B748F Engines were the most powerful

  • anyone know what the mximum power for take off that they can use in an a330 cause those engines are even more powerfull than the 747

  • Sorry about that, I didn't notice, that my sister was logged on

  • williammarty92, are you sure you know what your talking about? You can apply full power on takeoff as is whats done is most cases where thrust derating is not needed. It also depends on te GTOW of teh aircraft but for takeoff 89% really isnt enough thrust.

  • As I already mentioned in a comment that has obviously already been deleted... I fly these in a simulator, where it is well possible, that the programmed GTOW is not very realistic.

  • Yeah, that's what I meant. sry, I didn't put my self clear enough.

  • The Engines will only tear out chunks of the runway when the engines are running at full throttle for over 20 seconds. A Boeing 747 that weighs 380 tons will not be able to take off with only 50-75%. Believe me, I fly 747s and you'll need at least 85% if not 89% =)

  • What the hell is that?

  • This 747 has been converted to this shape to carry other sections of a boeing aircraft. It is not supposed to be that colour or shape, it is just a carrier.

The funny thing is, it is still prettier than the airbus fleet!

  • i think beluga is a sexier name than dreamlifter too.

  • ugly!!design!!!

  • it will go back and forth between japan and seattle nearly 1,000 times.

  • Boeing 747 LCF "dreamlifter" its indeed a dream of me a giant hot-dog.

  • I'd like to see the wake from that!!!

  • ..painted or not, that's one ugly mother****er :-)

-not that Airbus's version is prettier. although, come to think of it, maybe it is..

  • what type of aircraft is this..so ugly

  • more like russian design

  • Another cover-up operation from the american government.LOL

  • !!!Magnifique!! Bravo!!! Et bonne continuation bien sur

  • i hope airbus and boeing will leiv a long time and make many sales to prosper the west

  • What is this?

  • For everyone out there-

Boeing will repaint the dreamlifter 747 aircraft. There is another one with paint already, and that one is the one that transports the parts of the 787. They will repaint this plane, so they won't look tacky.

  • Was the painted one a funny green color?

  • It looks like an anaconda that swallowed a pig.

  • What do you get when you cross a lima bean with a beluga whale?

  • Yes, took no time to get off the ground , but needed a far bit to stop. It may look a bit freaky, but as long as it's good for it's job, you cannot go wrong.

    thanks for the vid.

    quercous

  • Search on beluga airbus

and there are some vids of the Airbus fuselage transporter used to carry 330/340 parts

  • HAHAHA, worst attempt to keep up with superior european technology ever! *lol*

  • what are you on about? lol please post comments if u actualy have a clue what you are on about, please.

  • you guys know its "ugly" cuz of they didnt repaint the fuselage yet.... if it was painted... and if its engine was replaced,it would be the best freight in the workd! aircraft

  • They aren't going to repaint it. They have one of these at Boeing Field here in Seattle all the time, I saw one taking off last week in fact. Think of how much weight it would add to a plane that size if they did paint it. By not painting it they can increase the carrying capacity over a painted version.

  • hey Bozos... This freighter will carry 787 parts, the 747-8 is a fantastic aircraft that will out-sell that lump of crap a380

  • Stay back take a look it looks like they are testing a double deck body.

  • ROFLMAO comments on how ugly the plane is. Let's call "Extreme Makeover" and have them repaint it HOT PINK!

  • That's a real ugly cargo plane dude...probably if the fuselage was painted...would have been acceptable by me...:)

  • Who cares if it looks ugly if it performs well then it doesn't matter.

  • it wasn't meant to look pretty. It was meant to carry 787 parts.

  • what an ugly thing its the ugliest thing i ever seen!

  • I Agree how uglyer can it get

  • whtas happend to the airbus a380? O I know, its been delayed! Production, due to start at the end of 2006, the first wont be delivered until 2009. Even though im british and where the wings are made for the a380 is just up the road from me. the 747 will always be king of the skies.

  • You know they're discontinuing the 747, right? You'd better hope the 747-8 can be as successful as the A380. Right now, for boeing and their new 747, things aren't as hot as the A380.

  • Who said that the A380 is successful...

  • This is definitely the joke of the year!!

  • Hideous

  • kind of like that beluga thingy.

  • This plane wasn't designed to compete with the A380. It is just to speed up production on the 787 dream liner program. The dream liner has parts and assemblies being made all around the world, and this plane makes it possible to fly a 787 fuselage section instead of shipping it by train and boat.

  • I work for an aerospace manufacturing company in Gardena, CA, and we made over 1000 parts for this 747 modification. Everything you see in green on the airplane came out of our facility. We are currently working on ship set 4 for the fourth plane.

  • what is that green stuff around the plane??

  • green primer to protect the aluminum. They haven't painted it a final color in an effort to reduce weight so it can carry more.

  • These 3 aircraft will be operated by a third party to transport 787 pieces from worldwide suppliers to final assembly at Boeing. It was purpose built. Boeing knows exactly what its doing. And I saw landing at Boeing Field today. It is amazing!

  • That airplane will not carry pasengers it was only build to carry the big parts of the future boeing 787 This airplane will not solve the needs or demand of airlines but it does fit on the needs of Boeing itself as a transporter. Remember because its big and powerful does not mean it will reduce the expenses. Boeing will not make the same mistake as Airbus with the A380.

  • Is this Boeing's answer to the A380?

nope, Boeing's answer is economy, including the 787 and 747-8, they beat them in running cost, this LCF is Boeing's private transport for large parts of the 787

  • This is a Boeing!!! But...what happened???

  • nah its Boeings Response to The Airbus Beluga

  • Is this Boeing's answer to the A380?

  • That is amazing

  • LCF2 is gonna be flying SOON!

  • Still looks better than the Airbus WhaleJet!

  • No, i think the beluga looks way better!

    its more efficient to.

  • Is it a tumor?

    it's not a toomah...

  • ive seen it being built myslef a few days ago its awsome

  • OSCAR MEYER's hot dogs!I can't for the Boeing 787 to come out.

  • I seriously hope they give this plane a paint job... although I can understand why they wouldn't bother.

  • The new 787 will kick ass in 2008... can't wait to see it!!!

  • What a beauty. I live in south of Seattle and drive by the boeing feild in southern Seattle every morning. And I get to see this big 47 every morning. It's amazing that it can fly in this configuration. I saw a regular 747-400 nearby, this big green 'olive' looked almost twice as big.

  • Very cool!

The atc and aircraft sounds make it even more "live."

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • So, that's what this plane is... I saw it at Boeing Field here in Seattle and was like... WTF is THAT?! Rad.

  • What a cool looking plane!

  • i taught it is a crash because it is kinda heavy for the plane

  • whats it carrying?

  • 787 fuselage and wings between Japan and US.

  • cant wait to see it here in charleston sc

  • To Carpper1: it's gonna ferry back on 16th of September, FYI. ( Taipei local time/date )
