Just recently purchased Kid Dracula for the Famicom, I consider it one of the big 5 cute Konami FC titles (this, the 2 Wai Wai World games, Yume Penguin Monogatari, and Bio Miracle Boukette Upa), 5 of the best games on the Famicom.
Mike just so you know, the Gameboy version is only a slightly remixed port of this game. Outside of a few extra cutscenes, there's nothing in the GB game that you don't get in the Famicom one. It's largely a step backwards to play Kid Dracula after Boku Dracula-kun.
@SatoshiMatrix1 Good to know Satoshi! I think I may hold off on buying it and emulate first to see if its really a must have for me. Thanks you may have just saved me some money. :)
I hear in one of the versions of the game the boss dressed in all white has the Swastika on his head and on another version they took it off for obvious reasons... but game looks great and good review mike!
When you have a video review like this and sound quality like what you have you are going to experience problems You currently have your voice drowned out by the music of the game, they are at just about the same level so your voice is slightly drowned out. It would have been better if you just straight microphone recorded your voice and had shots of yourself in the basement. As it is your voice is there but it's like it's trying to do battle with the music for the entire review.
@RichiesGranpa Thanks for your advice. Slightly would really be the key word though. There's about an -18db difference between the music and my voice.
@unleadedlogic I think that's the problem. 18 DB's and my ears suck. I don't think anyone should ever listen to metal while sticking their head near a running aircraft engine.
EITHER WAY This game does in fact rock balls. I played the GB version as a kid. I found out about the Nes version later. Much like Gargoyles Quest, Both the Game Boy and the Nes versions are fantastic titles.
@RichiesGranpa Damn, I don't think anyone should have to do that either. Hearing loss scares the living hell out of me. Gargoyles Quest is very awesome as well. Did you enjoy Demon Crest?
@unleadedlogic I actually played demons crest unaware that it was related to the previous Gargoyles quest games. I really enjoyed it. The game was awesome. I think it reminded me a lot of Act Raiser in that it was a gorgeous side scroller with kick ass music. Though I'm pretty sure Demons Crest was waaaaay easier than Act Raiser. At least easier than AR2. It's been at least 10 to 15 years since I had beaten it but I remember it fondly when my snes was new.
@unleadedlogic Also hearing loss ain't that bad when you have whiney co-workers and women around them. It's like being able to manually tune people out. Plus mine is only mild compared to a lot of other people. I just can't hear really deep tones. They sort of blur out. It's not like that ringing constantly in your ear after someone claps your ear or something.
just TODAY retrousb.com started selling NES reproduction cartridges so you can have your own cartridge.
