Um, I would like to say that I'm very pleased that this bus fight hit the news, because Chinese people beat each other up everyday everywhere and nobody does anything about it. They just act like they can get away with anything they want. It tells people how Americans know what abuse is and how Chinese people don't even if it hit them in the face. The Chinese lady, I can tell you being fluent in the culture and language, is the way that China acts every single day. China does not report.
There have been about 4 or 5 times when a white person wouldn't let me sit on the seat next to them. (I'm also a fair skinned asian girl who dresses conservatively and not loud at all.) I just let it go. It's not worth fighting over a stupid bus seat. There are more important things to fight for and a petty issue isn't worth the risk.
Also, I wasn't depriving an elder or a handicapped person of a seat. I'm the kind of person who gives up a seat for a pregnant person, or if they're disabled etc.
Actually, in France, one person gave up their seat for me on a train. I couldn't believe it because Parisians have a reputation for being like New Yorkers.
