  • 3.54!!! Its Saras face appearing in Stevies clothing!

  • Wonderfully beautiful performance of an engrossing classic. I love the way Stevie Nicks smiles. There is a strong emotional transfer here and, for the first time and thanks to Stevie's vocals, I felt a connection with Liz Fraser and the Cocteau Twins. I agree with some of the previous comments hoping that new artists come along who release new masterpieces like this one.

  • Stevie was having an affair with Mick fleetwood, Mick fell in love with stevie's best friend Sara. That's who the songs about.

  • Legend has it that Stevie and Lindsay were expecting a daughter that they were going to name Sara, but a miscarriage happened.

The most ephemeral, simply beautiful Stevie song.

  • This is one of my favorite videos of Fleetwood Mac. Stevie is perfection in this. Thanks!

  • 'Drowning in the sea of love, where everyone would love to drown' has got to be the absolute best line ever written in a song.

  • @Peapod46 so true mate ...... ha ha

  • @Peapod46 absof*ckinglutely.....

  • I love the way Lindsey gazes at her while she's singing this song. She really, really seems to love this song~

  • @silverbirdsong lindsay is still in awe of her to this day. gotta love stevie one more magnate keeps drawing people to her!!!!!

  • Proof that a song can be a rewrite of a previous song - in this case a rewrite of "Dreams" - and still be a great song in its own right. Great line "....and undoing..."

  • greatest song ever

  • what tour/concert is this?

  • @shaunheable Tusk Tour

  • This Song Is Awesome !!!!!!

  • Beautiful singh

  • My god, this really brings back memories...the main one being when MTV used to show only videos. Staying up late on summer nights and watching MTV all night long... wow, good times.

  • I was named after this song, and I'm so proud of that. I lost my Mom 8 years ago, and she use to sing this to me all the time. I miss that, and her.

  • breathtakingly beautiful... love this song... i play it incessantly. my favorite part is "undoing, undoing.. the laces" absolutely love the vocals and musical arrangement... wish they still made music like this! -kelly L

  • dresses like a bag lady but sings like an angel...beautiful beautiful talented stevie >3

  • I was of the "impressionable stage" when this was popular and I remember it well. I remember my mom used to have art deco 70's prints on the wall and I thought it was magical. This era of music is sooo much a part of my upbringing! I hope those of later generations can appreciate this music for what it is...for the soul and not for the almighty dollar!

  • Music like this just isn't written anymore. I wonder why? There are absolutely no new bands and no new artists whose music means anything to me anymore. I always find myself looking back instead of ahead.

  • Es ist einfach wundervoll, Stevie singen zu hören ! Sie ist ne Zicke, mit Sicherheit !! Aber Fleetwood Mac übersteht alle Krisen !!!

    Rock on, Lance.

  • Yes why is it we want to watch this over and over..there is some magic involved..surely not just because we love stevie ??? there is magic with this song

  • @sidewaysid There is someting truly magical about this song and performance!!!!

  • O passado já foi escrito pena que o presente é um grande vazio cheio de saudades daqueles tempos que tudo era feito com amor..

  • I could watch this over and over and over.... my favorite FM footage.

  • @nicksfantoo ME TOO!!!!!

  • @nicksfantoo

Yes friend... Great song... We could hear this over and over and over... The end is the best.

  • rock on nightbird

  • this footage deserves to be posted a million times.... incredible!

  • One of the best songs of all times. Better live that the studio version. And im not a big Mac fan.

  • Who is the "Merlin" in this band?

  • @fenriswolf6699 lol,its the necklace that Stevie wears,Merlin the magician.I forgot who gave it to her.Peace:)

  • @fenriswolf6699

The "Merlin" is Stevie Nicks... She is the one... I love her... the best singer...

  • Love this song...... and Stevie the original gypsy still gives me chills.

  • Rocky Radio....... Stevie Nicks, the Queen of 80s Rock & Roll!! This song is both Sweet & Bitter!

  • Rocky Radio....... Stevie Nicks, the Queen of 80s Rock & Roll!!

  • I wish to know what's the album where this video was taken from....

  • @narriagada this song was on the Tusk album

  • Brilliant song- Beautiful :)

  • "Drowning in the sea of love, where everyone would love to drown." That's probably one of the most romantic lyrics I've ever heard...

  • To My Daughter...SARA. There is were your name came from... LOVE DAD, Happy Mother's Day.

  • @TheStewartmyers That is so sweet.

  • Absolutely stunning

  • Impeccable rhythm section again

  • 2:15 to 2:25 make me feel like I could love someone as much as she did one day.

  • This song despite being lumped together with dullards like Boston and Journey, is a beautiful yearning ode to LOVE...that flows like quicksilver and shines so hard...who would of thought the muscular rump of the 1st Fleetwood Mac would have anything to do with a beautiful piece of music as this?

  • This is ultimately the most beautifully enchanting live song they ever recorded

  • @jonrhene close..watch live version of sisters of the moon....mirage tour 82

  • Nothing to compare to this wonderfull sound,I rest my case.....stunning!

  • I still remember being a little girl mesmerized by the beauty of the song and the magick of the woman who sings it Miss Stevie Nicks. Makes me cry every time I see this video. Thanks for posting it!

  • MY ALL TIME FAVORITE LIL' FLEETWOOD MAC VIDEO...AND..of course...song1

  • Awesome performance!

  • I just want to clear up a few things This song By Fleetwood Mac Is beautiful and I love Fleetwood Mac a lot. But I never had a song effect me the way Gabriel by Lamb does. The group is very new as in the 2000's new . There is no denying her ability to sing from the heart. Most of the bands that were listed were good but I am sick of Steve Perry ,and I am sick of Boston They were never ever that good. Dennis DeYoung wrecked Styx , Mr. Roboto is not exactly what I would call a masterpiece.

  • @kbdevo1962 . wow, you couldnt be more wrong about Boston, watch any of the following on you tube and tell me im wrong. A Man I'll Never Be, More than A Feeling, or Hitch A Ride, A Man I'll never be may be the greatest song of it type ever written.

  • @roenick778 I'll stick by my statement . Boston was a project band and I have heard many songs that are better written ,sung and arranged better than any song that Boston ever did. I used to own all the Boston LP's back in the day But I never needed to listen to them , Because the airplay wore them out like a 35 year old sock. I realize that the singer from Lamb some people may not like , But guess what ? Stevie Nicks has that same type of "Either you Love it or you hate it voice .

  • @MrSynikll and @(Rhiannonlynn1970)for agreeing . I would have sent a video response but this site has seen fit to be a major pain in my ass. I loathe this site beyond most peoples imagination . It is not easy to use and is not self explanitory . It uses way too much of my CPU and I can't find a decent ANYTHING even when I know exactly what I want . So Please Look up this video since I cant send it to you . This song is better than anything mentioned . Lamb - Gabriel Live @ Lowlands 2003

  • I turn 49 today what a great time to grow up musically was great then and still great now and will always be

  • This song is so beautiful... i wish every day that i would have been lucky enough to be born into a generation of good music instead of today's generation. :( Stevie Nicks is my favorite, i just wish i could have seen her in concert back in these days.

  • just wish that sound at the end was NOT there, i am meditating and then DOODELEEEEPPP

  • Best version of Sara, up tempo. Very lively.

  • I am now and have always been in love with Stevie

  • l love this song!!!! very good ear

  • I love it when groups back in our days Like Fleetwood Mac, Toto, America, Styx, Boston, Journey, Player, Ambrosia, and lots more that made MUSIC ! They all sang from their heart and souls !!! I will NEVER forget those times !!! Music today will NEVER compare to what we had long ago!!

    Thank you Rhiannon !! :)

  • @MrSynikll

    i agree

  • @MrSynikll agreed.

  • @MrSynikll i don't want to sound hypocritical, cause i agree that the music made within my parents era far outshine anything in mine.i know every artist you just named, the hits they made, as well as their release dates.however, the comparison cannot be made,as even then talent like stevie wasn't discovered twice. modern day music is not bluesy, but has bands like muse, the kooks, temper trap, linkin park.in addition, the music is based on telling people like yourself to piss off.

    long live stevie!

  • @MrSynikll you said it!!! I was born in 67 and thankfully had older siblings and grew up on their music and my heart belongs to this and other great groups of that time. People think I'm "stuck" in that era but nothing these days comes close to this!! This is by far the best live footage of them doing Sara!!

  • sara, my soul, forever and ever and ever..

  • sara, forever and ever and ever...

  • I LOVE HER AT THE 70'S MICROPHONE..ALL I EVER WANTED WAS TO KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW( LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very very good!!!!

  • Lindsey is AMAZING in the background

  • @tattoofthesun YES, good ear...knowing that Stevie's mystical sound is what will make this song he lays back and plays perfect backing guitar, just the little trailing elaborations to support her (unlike "Riannon" where her voice and his guitar almost do battle at some points) and just sets up that great mild wall of sound for her to work off of...until at 3:36 he goes off on his own with that great little classic rock and roll tribute, almost a "sock hop" sort of riff...it is beautifully done.

  • @gurlsingerfan it really makes the video, and makes this version of the song magic, so magic

  • Thanks mummy for naming me after this song!

I will never ever stop loving this track! x

  • What is sooooo irritating...is that about 3 minutes of this great performance is not even in the video.

  • What is sooooo irritating is that about 3 minutes are cut out of this performance....drives me nuts!

  • What is sooooo irritating is that about 3 minutes are cut out of this performance....drives me nuts!

  • What is sooooo irritating is that about 3 minutes are cut out of this performance....drives me nuts!

  • I just saw Stevie for my first time this past August in Lake Tahoe, and OMG...I just about peed all over myself...she hasn`t aged one day, and the performance was just AMAZING!!! I can`t wait to get her new album thats comming out in the spring of 2011

  • esta rola me gusta por que me trae unos recuerdos padrisimos de lagunos a#os y de algunas personas que ahora ya estan demasiado lejos de mi la vida es por ciclos y ese es uno que debia ser cerrado

  • I get chills every time. The band in their prime, and Stevie's voice so beautiful. To think this song was written before I was born! If I had a time machine, I would go back to experience them live.

  • Forgive me for sharing this one more time, but how appravos!

  • ok ... they all were on coke, LOL. love em

  • had to get my Sara fix....what an incredible song!

  • Great song! Love you Stevie! You are right about todays songs, It sucks.

  • OMFG

  • Could this be the very best love song ever?

  • I was named after this song!

  • God I miss a good band...what happened to music?

  • I hate that I can't hear the left track added even if it's mono, but I love this song, I loved the time it was recorded it brings me back some great memories

  • @Coffeeforevah It does bring back some good memos. If you listen REAL close,at the beginning you can hear the left track no matter what kind system you have, and yes I hate it too when you cant hear the added tracks, especially on this track. Peace :) Rhiannonlynn1970

  • @Coffeeforevah the sound and everything then was nowhere near what it is now - there are great live versions of this great song also here on UTube. Thanks - Rhiannonlynn - had my son been a girl he would have had your name.

  • gorgeous track

  • reminds me of the good ole days...back in the mid eighties...high school...I played this song over and over in my first car. Would go out to my car at lunch even and play her songs.

  • I could listen to John McVie play bass all day. His tone and feel are beautiful.

  • A ver si les gusta mi versión de SARA

Enjoy my new version of SARA SONG

  • Brilliant raw performance they really were so tight as a band

  • Thank you Grace never knew that. Someone who read the kiss and tell book Mick wrote about him and Stevie told me that Mick mentioned the line "undoing the laces" was about him. I never read it . I heard Stevie say in a interview a long time ago "when you build your house..call me" was about Don Henley.

  • This song is about Mick Fleetwood ya know.:)

  • @silverbirdsong I thought it was about don henley

  • @Can04boi Stevie had an affair with Mick. Mick than fell in

love with one of her best friends Sara and they even got married

(but got devorced later) Stevie says in an interview: I lost 2 of my friends in one time.

  • @silverbirdsong it about her her unborn baby she has even said that she just liked the name sara and baby's was henleys listing 2 the words it could be about the baby.

  • They were all pretty high on coke during this performance and she forgot to sing the verse " He said Sara your the poet in my heart"..... thats what drugs do to you.:) Still ..I've always loved this video. Most excellent.

  • Wow I agree with you all, the all time best song for me I'm for sure, Stevie is so sexy for a short woman, all these present long leggy bits are not a patch on Stevie, she is the Goddess XXX BB

  • "..undoing...the laces..." sexiest voice, sexiest line...I worship this song.

  • swweeeeeeet bass line baby

  • all time favorite song

  • I love John McVie's Bass line on here.

  • this will always be one of their best for me

  • Rhiannonlynn1970 - I love what you wrote. Very funny!

  • I don't think I need to say anything except I am so gonna miss you and I love you

this isnt good bye not even close - see you on the other side. That is a promise.

  • Don't get me wrong, i liked the songs that Christine provided for the Macster too. quite a few I loved: you make loving fun, say you love me, Little lies, over my head, as long as you follow, Hold me, Think about me, the list goes on...

  • bro is groovin the she out of that guitar.

  • I Love Stevie, And This song reminds me of the beach, not to mention the whole, "drowning in the sea of love part" Damn i love me some fleetwood mac

  • man,,,i remember seeing stevie in the stand back video when i was a kid,,,that was the day i decided that maybe girls didnt have cooties. been in love with her and her voice ever since.

  • Every line of this song is "loaded" with Stevie's magic, it's hard to pick a favourite.

I'd say mine has always been:

"Hold on, the night is coming and the starling flew for days."

Add to that Lindsey making his guitar sound like a whole orchestra totally getting the harmony and the clashes he wants to make against it and you have about as close to musical heaven as it's possible to get!

So glad they did this on the most recent tour!

  • me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wait a minute baby

    Stay with me a while

    Said you'd give me light

But you never told me about the fire

Lots of people have commented that the "Drowning in the sea of love" lyric gives them chills, it's the 1st verse that gives me chills in this song.

God her voice is beautiful in this clip.

  • Also, I think the any baby references made by this song have to do with a lost pregnancy with Lindsey, judging by his reaction (tears streaming down his cheeks) whenever they play this song recently.

That would explain why Lindsey spends his time over by Mick or Christine on this song instead of his usual stage left position.

Who's mic does she go to that's set way hisgh at the end? Is it Lindsey's?

  • She is amazing at 2:22 moaning for love !

  • She so fucking hot in many ways !!!

  • Try to do this sound Brittany, Taylor, Sheryl, Beyonce,

Whitney, Lady GaGa, Carrie, Miley, Ke$ha.......

    I didn't think so.

  • @katiejdr567 none of them never will! i'm hanging Stevie's album cover from The Wild Heart on my bedroom wall. I just bought it for $5 at a used record store...it's my first full length album. All the others are 45's.

  • @katiejdr567 best voice ever!

  • I can't go too long, maybe a week between watching this video. Then once I do I have to replay it several times. I fell in love with this song when it first came out and from the first moment I heard it...amazing!

  • me too!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nicksfantoo i fell in love with stevie nicks when i saw this video. lol:)

  • @nicksfantoo

    and me too!

  • i must agree

  • at 0:15 there is a huge "Sara" from the audience...

  • the haunting sound near the end, all i ever wanted was to know that you were dreamingxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • classic song that will never fade in ones memory.

stevie and lindsey the love that is eternal x

  • the last part was chilling for a reason. She wrote this song as a tribute to the baby by Lindsay she lost in miscarriage.

Stevie puts her heart and soul into her music.

  • Love the way she shoots a sexy glance to Buckingham when she sings "I think I have met my match"......lucky, lucky bastard

  • love this song so much..

  • the sound and footage from this Sara always gives me chills....the very best footage of this song ever!

  • alllllllllllllllllllll iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr wanteddddddddddddddddddddd

    last part was chilling

  • She gives me the fuckin ragin horn

  • and me too ah ah she is the best

  • I so badly want to eat her like an oyster lol

  • Me too.

  • that's beacause you must be beauty and brains, obviously...

  • You got it!!

  • This song was 30 years ago no.7 in the world charts

  • The "when you build your house" reference is to Don Henley, Stevie has said, but he wasn't the main influence for the song--Mick was.

Enter "Sara (Fleetwood Mac song)" at Wiki and you'll find corroboration of the above. Try Googling "Stevie Nicks and Sara" too-- "inherownwords" and the Penguin Fleetwood Mac sites are good. I'd give the exact addys but YT doesn't allow it.

Stevie often draws from several life events within one song, e.g. "Edge of Seventeen"--check that one out at Wiki.

  • In this classic awesome video-Is this song written by Stevie trying to explain to Mick's wife that she is sleeping with him? That is why she says when you build your house-call me. Wow-I hope I am wrong. Someone can write back with the CORRECT answer and not a guess.

  • Hi.I am a huge Stevie fan... Some say "Sara" is Stevie's alter,(she checked in rehab using the alias "Sara") some say a model friend of Stevie's, named "Sara" got the title( Mick married later). I have heard that actually this is not about Mick at all...it is about Lindsay Buckingham. The relationship was so easy to read.Their actions towards each other did not need words to be read.Stevie/Lindsay had a powerful connection and relationship.

  • Many will say they were both so stubborn neither wanted the other to know what they were feeling so the end result were theese powerful lyrical masterpieces

  • Greatest live-voice in history of rock

  • If I was the one in the crowd she looked at the first time see sings"call me" I would have melted into a puddle right then and there.

  • an amazing song...still blows me away every time I hear it...Stevie the goddess of love.

  • This song was 30 years ago no.8 in the world charts

  • My hair is so loong and curly I always wanted to know how stevie pin her hair up like this

  • man is Stevie just about the prettiest singer in the world at 2:25

  • ROCK ON---This tune is the best....

  • Pre Brittany days when artists really sang live!

  • If i must be alone on an island,it's my favourite song to only take

35 years i love this song

  • Shit!

I can't believe how great their songs sound live.

  • incredibly beautiful

who wouldnt fall for a woman who can express herself like this?

  • "All I ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming.....Sara". This is sad, think about it. There's more to this song than we know. Beautiful, and I wish I could have heard it in concert. But I also understand there must be a reason why she can't. I've heard many interpretations, who cares, not my business but I love the vocals and the mixing is without equal.

  • Her relationship to Lindsey has always been ever-present in all her songs... It's romantic and poignant and multi-facetted. Lindsey's loss....LAWL

  • It is obvious that this song is about the love between Stevie and Lindsey...it just did'nt work out for them

  • actually this was written about Stevie and her affair with Mic Fleetwood !

  • just beautiful!!!

  • sara was my love......

this song is perfect for me situation.,.

    but i still love her

  • Love this song, but it always makes me cry.
