I am serious, cds do last long . If u do not treat them like urang-atang then they last long. I have cds for over 20 years. And u could easily back up MP3 files. Vinyl will sound good only if u have decent amp and speakers then thats where it becomes comparable. u could spend alot less and get better sound with digital. if u are dirty hipster that buys shitty urban outfitters turntable ur new black lips record will sound like horrible shit, but thats because black lips already sound like shit

actually even if they did realease their shit on vinyl i think it woudl still sound like crap... modern music is so compressed when its recorded that it just makes it "loud" there are no dynamics anymore and recording has just become who could produce the "loudest" sounding recording. they refer to this in the music industry as HOT. I tend to stray away from modern bands because of the shitty recordings that they produce.

But with that being said i do beleive that CDs are able to produce better dynamic than vinyl. Its a shame that modern recordings don't take advantage of this. For reference of this listen to bands from the early 90s when recording producers really started to take advantage of the dynamics of cds...this is before the loud wars started everything is over produced now. I do admit that the vivian girls recordings do sound more tame and "nice" though
