Asbury could have always been a beautiful place if it wasn't for the 'animals' who always have to ruin all that they touch. Then 'we' have to use our money and resources to fix what 'they' broke! It's the same all over the country. So sad & pathetic.
im sorry but i don't see why at the point that a structure has partially collapsed by fire you'd keep spraying water on it and not just focus on the surrounding buildings. is there a reason for it im just wondering is all
This so very sad, and they put Bruce Springsteen, like he's the only musican born in NJ!!! Give me a break, that was not appopraite to play that song at all, no song should of been playing! That was a historic hotel, show a little respect!!! Not a song from BS!!!
Nice pics. Some folks don't understand ,that no matter what you do, some fires can't be stopped. Didn't i read that the buildings were scheduled for demolition? And if no lives are in danger, it is not worth any brother firefighters getting killed!!
Background- (I WAS there)... The two buildings were connected by a first-floor hallway, where a group of kids lit a gasoline-fueled fire. The buildings were scheduled for demolition, and the fire was well advanced before FD units arrived, due to arson and demolition. They were over 100 years old, no alarm, no sprinklers, no fire stops. There was no way to save these buildings, but we stopped it from spreading to any adjoining structures. Damn it was cold!!!
yes it was. i was on 3-75 out of the hills and i rmr getting wet cuz a probie was on wanamassas helmet and i was by the pump pannel with our chief enginer. i had shit sicks all over lol good fire to practice on though cuz no one got seriously hurt and no damage to an important building. i was only a cadet and that was my 2nd structure. love the learning
Old unsprinklered buildings like that burn down to the ground. If the fire has a good start, 100 year old wood burns fast. For all you nonfirefighters...Can't save those oldies...Problem after problem...
First of all, it looks like your a swimmer, not a firefighter. Second, you were not there so you don't know the circumstances involved with this particular fire. It is not the firefighters fault that this hotel caught fire. It is also not their fault that it sustained as much damage that it did. They did the best that they possibly could. Unless your a firefighter, you don't know how fire acts. THINK before you speak. Thank you.
hahaha.....i just knew some stupid person would blow up at that......man I was just jokein, chill man.......(it most likely wasnt worth saving anyway)
@Fordmustang09 you know there is this realy cool thing its called replying You should try it. so people know that you talking to somone rather than just writing somthing that will make you stand out as a dumbas
"They did the best that they possibly could. Unless your a firefighter, you don't know how fire acts."
Ehh... even if you are a firefighter, you know behavioral patterns, but fires aren't predictable to a tee - and you don';t need to be a firefighter to learn about fires -Google is a great help these days [especially for one who wants to get reading done before possibly exploring that field, for example]
First, by the looks of your username, it appears to be that your a swimmer, not a firefighter. Second, it is not the firefighters fault that the hotel caught fire. It also is not the firefighters fault that the hotel sustained as much damage as it did. Unless you were there you don't know the entire story. Think before you post a comment like that. Thanks!

I knew there was no hope for the buildings (too much neglect for too long) but it sucks that some idiot kids set them on fire.
I do like the picture of the ice-covered sign. Beautiful, in a sad sort of way.
