@casperlovesme ah okay so she is a hunter. Than why does the title say 'olympic equestrian jumping'? I'm from belgium, we don't have hunters here, only showjumping. Isn't hunters all about having a nice seat, riding on the right lead and making good turns, etc?
guys she is an amazing rider i have also taken a clinic with her. she is a profesional and knows what she is talking about. so dont make rude comments
I have actually taken a clinic with her at my barn and she is very good :) all the horses she owns she raises on her own farm.. AND i know that horse is green because she had it at my barn in tulsa ok because she lives in the moutains in colorado. and she is an excellent rider
she starts with explaining the posture and there already she makes a huge mistake, ankle, knee and hip should always be on one line, even the smallest child knows that? it looks like she's sitting on the toilet :-D
@saminiky Shorted stirrups for jumping pushes your leg forward. Even the smallest child knows that. She's riding like that because the short stirrup forces your leg up, and to jump on the higher ones to prevent impaling your crotch you need higher stirrups. It also helps for higher press releases so you don't yank on your horse's mouth
@xXMySweetMiseryXx even when your stirrups are shorter, your position should still be correct (hip, knee, ankle and shoulder should be on one line). I know it's the natural reaction of your leg to go forward when you put your stirrups shorter, but that's no excuse for not sitting correctly.
@saminiky True, she doesn't really have a reason for that horrible position, but when you get higher, you position falters a bit. You wouldn't criticize Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, watch?v=C7DESFhUZJc , her feet stick out, aren't straight the whole time, and her knee isn't in line. She's jumping HIGH, so stirrups are shorter and her knee isn't able to go down into line. It's more applicable to flat work and low jumps, as it's hard to keep perfect position on a spirited horse over large jumps.
@xXMySweetMiseryXx very true, I've watched meredith M.B., when she's walking the horse her legs are ALLOT pretier to look at than this womans legs. Her legs aren't perfect when she's riding a course, but that's normal concidering the height of the jumps. I understand that the legs are pushed forward when sitting short but the woman in this vid isn't even trying to sit correct. And it's not only her position that's bad, but let's not start about that :-)
@xXMySweetMiseryXx do you know the name of this person? and does she ride hunters of showjumping? She's sitting forward (I think it's called 2-point in english) before and after the jump, so I think she's a hunter. But than I don't understand why the vid's called olympic jumping, cause the olympic's don't have hunters
is it just me or are you taught not to lean forward in riding...and complimenting yourself is just weird...crop is on the wrong side when she changed directions...terrible posture..and when she messed p she kept blaming it on the horse..that horse doesnt look green to me it looks like you need a lot more riding lessons
if that is leaning foward than you must be sitting straight up in the saddle, because that is nothin. she is just trying to hold him back and not be left behind, he looks very stiff and wants to run so that's why she is having a little more caution with her position. and maybe, the horse needs the crop on one specific side.
She is a professional and a great rider. and does not need lessons.
@hoorsesxoxoxoxo okay you don't have to get all defensive i was just giving my opinion...and don't post a video on youtube thinking no one is going to say anything about their opinion.
I think this was one of the better riding videos I have seen on youtube as far as "how to" videos go. It was informative and didn't give any false info or bad horsemanship. So good job to the makers for that! "expertvilliage" makes how to riding videos and they haven't a clue what they are talking about most the time and give very confusing and irrelevant information.
oh wow, talk about a chair seat.

Isn't the last line a one stride, not a bounce?

I have watched her on many different horses, and let me say... she has ridden "greener" horses.

this is really good! to stop your horse from landing on the wrong lead coming off a jump try to put more pressure on your outside leg.
demiranda419 2 years ago
@demiranda419 don't need a vid to know that, it's quite logical.. this woman really needs a lesson :-S don't want to sound cocky...
saminiky 2 months ago
@demiranda419
when you do that, it makes your horse jump worse and not square.
