When Rufus said that it was a "simple and beautiful song" Loudon got angry and Rufus anguished, both (angry/anguish) in a subtle way, but you can tell the extreme tension between them and the need of aprobation and love of Rufus, just by the way he looked at his father.
Did you think he got angry? I just thought he seemed amused that Rufus was trying to say his dad was a rubbish piano player while trying to give him a compliment and not cause offense. I've been a big fan of Loudon for 30 add years. Never really taken to Rufus as a performer, but after watching this documentry I have warmed to him as a person. couldn't have been easy for a young guy to have his life exposed like this, so all credit to him for handling it pretty well.
wonderful, many thanks - he is unique, ao many references to family members by name, for example. However he's a public performer and an entertainer in the most virtuous sense of the word so it's important to be careful to draw a distinction between the private and the public. He has a wonderful sense of humour and that's also a very important element in his music, I think.
i really feel bad for him being alone all the time.
