i seen this on tv the bear is dead it mauled 4 people and was shot by authorities and it has cubs at the Cincinnati zoo all victims are alive but 3 were almost killed
WOW Great video . Lets hope that he dont come back to your house . He is on the hunt and nothing will stop him from feeding so be careful and keep your gaurd up .
Bears become aggressive when it comes to protecting their food, in addition the bear had a cub, they become even more aggressive when protecting their children. so they had to scare the bear away from the area
archangle (is that really angle and not "angel"..? - This is not the bear that was killed in Anchorage that was thought to have mauled and chased people. Do your homework before make comments.
Dear God woman! There is no such word as "wokened" nor is there such a word as "drug" except in the narcotic or pharmaceutical sense. I presume you meant "dragged". Have the courtesy to at least learn your own mother tongue so you can teach your children. You sound like Sarah Palin.
The bear seen in this video was shot and killed. The reason was not due to the close proximity of the bear to people, but this bear was responsible for mauling a woman 12 miles to the South in Anchorage. It was a mother bear, and had been causing problems all summer. At the time this incident occurred, they had just figured out that this bear and the bear that mauled the woman were one in the same. The bear came out while they were recovering the carcass....Dead.
Yeah, I saw it on Discovery Channel about bear attacks and this particular video and bear was in it. She was destroyed like you said, at least according to what the guy in the program said.
omg that place is close to where i live good thing the bear didn't come around my neiborhood i would be freaked out if i ran in to a bear on the road. i have already and it was scary.
I don't know where you got the impression that I was being a "tough guy." I'm sorry if I came off that way. But I must know, why do you have the right to share your comments but I don't?
Your comment was towards me, I made a comment about the video. I didn't go anyone and say anything smart like stay in the city! Make a comment but don't make to to anyone if you don't want them defending themselves. I didn't even read your name but now I know your a tough girl and not a tough guy. We move to their world and then kill them because they are around and doing what they always have done, now matter how you put it, it's wrong!
Great coverage Jennifer. You had to know that some idiots would give this their own angle. Why did they kill the bear, whydid they kill the mother moose etc, etc? Some will use any excuse to badmouth hunters, or even people, like you, that live in a sort of wilderness area, by choice, or with job. And they comment without even closely watching. I agree with those that said great job, and you SHOULD be in broadcasting.
They didn't shoot the bear. Shots were fired to scare it away and the moose carcass was removed so the bear wouldn't get used to feeding near a residential area.
I know I might get people talking shit but I think it's wrong to kill a bear just because he was trying to do what he knows how to do and hunt for food. We build our homes in the back yard and we kill them for hunting, something is very wrong about that. Move to the city if your not willing to have to deal with them!
Nice location, but do you have a large calibre rifle in case a bear attacked you or oyur family? also the guns those men were carrying were mainly for protection.
the bear killed the moose haha cant you see ? they just recovered the carcass probably to sudy it and by removing it it wont attract other predators near this neighborhood
The point is not that they were trying to keep the bear from its food. They are trying to avoid human-bear confrontation. The noise should have provided enough deterrent to move the bears further from the humans and removing the carcass precludes the bears from coming back to feed. this kind of stuff happens in Alaska all the time. We know what we are doing to a great extent(not perfect). They did not harm the bears. AGAIN they did not harm the bears.
As she says in the video, the bears were not harmed. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologists removed the moose carcass because it was so close to houses in the area.
I agree, Jennifer should have a job on tv. She doesn't have this ridiculous way many US tv people have these days, talking in between umms & aah's & emphasising the last couple of words in a sentence. She also seems to come over as having a nice way about her, a nice down to earth person. Should be on tv. Husband be proud.
humans are continually encroaching on territory that should be ecologically preserved. We have an issue with overpopulation and when things get bad we'll be resorting to cannibalism.
who said it was hunting? it's a video of a bear attacking a moose and the local authorities shooting the bear b/c it stayed around that town which is not safe.... how could you think it's hunting????
...they took a hide from them. The bear and cubs and whatever else had eaten most of the carcass. But, it was rather stupid to call the wildlife ... thing on them. :P
with having children, aren't you a little worried about going outside! a grizzly bear in your backyard that kills & charges forest service workers! SCARY! do u take out the trash @ night?
or, could this be the (new) direction Gov. Palin is going?
Now, when you call fish and shame they come right away, but that bear will find another moose calf or (something) to feed on, they should be sent back to kill the bears!

As mentioned in the video, the bear was unharmed. Fish and Game simply removed the carcass (or what was left of it).
