I think it is nice, and in fact "self-less", for you Anthony to make this video tutorial. I'm sure you learned a lot by doing it. And I have to say, you made me a little bit more self confident. Good job. You're a good man.
I have a 10.5.6 and it doesnt have the class window. i went to the xcode classes, right clicked, added a new class, and now it doesnt have NSObject! what do i do?
Hi Masna360. I am new to Cocoa. After I open the MainMenu.nib file .. i do not see the tab for classes, interfaces etc. I am using leopard. have they removed this feature in Leopard .. please let me know. thanks in advance.
Im having the same problem, and I dont have AIM (living in europe, and noone in my country uses it) care to tell how to get to the classes browser?Reply or pm. Seems like a great tut , other than that.
this tutorial is a little outdated as it uses an old version of IB and Xcode. Te classes tab etc has been removed. To create a class go to xcode. right click on the classes folder (or ctrl click) and click add file. Then choose the type of class to add (I think he uses NSObject subclass). Finally click next, name it and then you have done the same as in the tutorial only using xcode 3
When i go to the main menu.xib and im in the Main Menu.xib (English) window, theres no flags i can choose between. Just the files File's Owner, First Responder, Application, Main Menu, Window (Window) Font Manager
What do i do? Im on leopard, and i just downloaded the iPhone SDK today the 14th of april

You're a truly SHIT teacher matey - you re-done the tutorial, and it's STILL as messed up and confusing as the first one you made!!. Why do you geeks always think that "Laymans terms" means translating what you are doing, into an analogy which includes ANOTHER, equally as confusing and geek-esque language and set of understandings which the pupil is meant to "just know"?!.
Computer software programming has no REAL, real life equivalent. The tools are written by geeks who all speak geek langwij.
have to agree with the comments mate, this was my first go at Xcode, and i followed the tutorial you made about 6 times the app builds but i get an error on the NSBeep(); line when i click the button and cannot find a reason for it.
Great tutorial, even if you did gloss over a few things. It saved me having to trawl through text tutorials to get up to speed on how Xcode and Objective-C works.

don't pissing work! You go WAY too fast without explaining things. for example, at the end you said to type in NSBeep. Well theres other things like brackets that go after that. You typed them in but didn't say what they were. Just wasted 10 mintes of my life on nuffin!
It's not like it's being shown between plays on Monday Night Football. You can pause it and replay it as much as you like. Once YouTube gets rid of the stingy length limits on videos, he won't have to move so quickly.
you're awesome man thanks mate greeting from saudi

Lol. Well, let's count the numbers.
Altogether, about 1,000 people have contacted me about my tutorials. So far, you're the first who thinks they're no good.
So... either you're really really stupid, or everyone else is really smart.
Take your pick. ;)

Thanks. Surprisingly, it worked really well for me. Followed everything in the your old tutorial. Result was exactly like shown.

NSbeep(): or NSbeep{}:
SCHIZOPHRENlC 4 years ago
it' s NSBeep();
You can always use esc completion in xcode when you are not sure of the name of the function/method/variable/class etc etc...

bigpod 4 years ago
wow hey thanks, now how do i save the Application for others to use it as an Application?
SCHIZOPHRENlC 4 years ago
For start you can take the application from "LocationOfProject/build/debug/YourApplicationName".
