I think this truck is great. I love all Ford trucks as a matter of fact. But can anyone explain to me why they all have 5.4L engines? Even the Navigator has it. Is there a reason why they don't give certain vehicles bigger (or smaller) engines?
like the video even said, its got nothing on the SRT 10 Dodge Ram. but sticking with the ford line up, just buy a Raptor. its a little lighter, has the off roading packages and a much better suspension and is the new focus of Fords performance trucks
i'd rather just get a regular xlt f150 with the 5.4 and doo all the engine mods myself. the body looks ok but that rear spoiler needs to go. i like the wheels too but they could be a few inches bigger. this truck may not be that quick but its still quick enough, this truck is heavy! cut it some slack!

@260muscle mine is standard. most have the option, just do your research. everyone i know who has a chevy complains on how the metal is shit (you can push the door in easily, so i wonder what a wreck would be like), the springs snap with hardly any weight put in the bed, and.... they suck dick. Chevy was good back in the muscle days, but now theyre cheap pieces of shit.
Even 450hp won't make a tank fast......but it looks awesome.....I'm still waitin for Ford to get their head out of the sand and build a supercharged Ranger that will shame even the Lightning....

6.2L, and it's supposed to put out 411hp and just over 434ftlb torque, technically making it the most powerful half ton on the market right now. They are sexy trucks too. I checked them out at SEMA earlier in the year and I fell in love. Every so often I see soe on the roads. I'm not fond of the new F150s, they're too boxy for me. But the new Raptors are just amazing. I just wish they weren't $50k.
There's a lot of room under the hood of an F150. I own one and believe me there is lots of room beyond the block and accessories. It wouldn't surprise me if Ford could fit a 6.8L V10 to their new half tons, let alone an entire GT500 setup.
Yeah you're right, I forgot the 4v is DOHC and the 3V is SOHC. I wouldn't think their size is so great in difference, where the 4v wouldn't fit under the hood of an F150. without major modding of the frame. or engine paneling.
I think i know how much My truck weighs, And my 4wd supercrew weighs alot more than what you seem to assume, I weigh in at around 5800 pounds, The NITEMARE is only .20 behind the lightning, and it has close to 1000 pounds more weigh if i am not mistaken. Also the SRT10 is not 4wd, most the roush f150's are 4wd and some all wheel drive, I dont see any other company doing this. Dont knock it tell you drive one.

The Lightning was made originally to compete against the GMC Syclone and 454SS. Hell, Dodge didn't put out a sports truck until 2004 with the SRT10. So seriously, who's behind now? Oh, and don't forget that the Roush stage 3 isn't a truck, it's a package, added to an existing vehicle. The SRT10 is DESIGNED to be the fastest, the Roush stage 3 package isn't.
To go faster, sound meaner, handle better, but not to compete against the world's fastest production truck, or even go that far. Come on now, you really think Roush would try to break the SRT10's record with a super cab or super crew?
They sure sure did, but the single cab is the world's fastest, and compare the fact the Viper motor in the SRT10 is 8.3L pushing just over 500hp, well more than the Roush stage 3 setup. The only Roush stage 3 single cab truck is the Nitemare (limited post-production), claimed by Roush to run the 1/4 mile faster than the Lightning but a simple 1/4 mile run isn't what gives a truck the title of being the world's fastest truck. I love Ford, but nothing they have now can beat the Ram SRT10.
It would be nice to see what would be the next fastest production pickup. Ford can do it, they proved it in 1999 with the release of the 2nd generation Lightning. Dodge needed 125hp to beat the Lightning, and not by a lot either. I would say there's no replacement for displacement, but has anyone ever heard of "engineering"? I know I'll get thumbs down for this, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the next fastest production pickup was a Toyota.
the only reason dodge had to put 125 hp more in the dodge is because they would cut back on weight on the lightning drastically. not only that but ford like all their stock engines have to install a supercharger. dodge had to put a v10 but hey its not supercharged, but pure bone stock. on the other hand i think any brand can take the crown fro fastest pickup. toyota is a big contender but chevy can also do it. check the badass corvette
The Viper engine is just as "pure bone stock" as the Lightning configuration. What would you expect an N/A 5.4L making only 230hp at the crank to run against an N/A 8.3L running 505hp at the crank? In the same era as the 2nd gen Lightning, Ford had no big motor to use. It would cost an arm and a liver to design a huge performance motor from scratch. Easy way: forged internals, supercharger, reflash PCM. It worked, for 5 years until Dodge put the biggest motor they had in a truck.
Is it a bad thing Fords are supercharged? Hell, is it a bad thing any car or truck out there gets a supercharger? In Europe, Ford is releasing a sedan that makes 400hp on the 5.4L 4V powerplant, naturally aspirated.
Emissions standards are fairly strict (assuming you live in the US) and building a vehicle that's safe and reliable comes first. Then, for anyone who wants some extra power without having first bought a gas guzzler can then supercharge. That's just my opinion.
I don't speculate that Ford "couldn't" do it, I just think their biggest aim wasn't to create a sub-supercar, but cars that the greatest percentage of automotive consumers would buy; which are those people who have families, obide by street laws, and just want a little thrill without breaking the bank. Hell, as many Corvettes as there are on the road, look at Mustangs. Better yet, look at how many Mustangs are V6 models. Ford is aiming at the majority, which is your plain average person.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ford. I love the Mustangs. Their body design is most attractive to me of most sports or muscle cars. But for performance, I would take the Corvette any day. I'm just not a strictly-performance kind of consumer, and I know lots of people who are like me, where performance is second to other things more practical for legal city driving.
Perhaps you should read the Motor Trend edition where they looked for the best driver's car. Suprisingly, the Camaro came in last, the Corvette came in 6th, while the Mustang GT500 came in 5th. The drivers thought the Corvette was too unpredictable and therefore not as much fun to drive.
Yeah I've seen lots of unbiased comparisons involving today's biggest muscle cars and realistically speaking, I'll never know if any of those cars are "right" for me until I sit in one and drive it. But what I do see are the majority of people who want a performance car and have the money, will go and buy a Corvette over the GT500.
Ford could do it, easily. The 5.4L 4v and 3v are the same size blocks, and a roots-type supercharger fit snugly under the hood. My speculation as to why Ford won't do it is because of cost. It would cost a lot for that motor and blower, transmission, lighten the weight of the truck since it's heavy as hell already, and gas. Right now not enough people can afford a high performance gas guzzler truck. But a GT500 F150 would be awesome and quick as hell though!!

I don't just know it could be done I've seen it been done it fits in and looks completely stock when done right. The hood shuts and the engine is easy to work on.
The reason for this is because the Miata was designed to take the Mazda v6 (but never did) originally and the 4cyl is longer than the 5.0L
Also the 5.0L isn't a big engine its one of the smallest v8s and one of the cheapest. since its small dispacment and pushrod

6.2L, and it's supposed to put out 411hp and just over 434ftlb torque, technically making it the most powerful half ton on the market right now. They are sexy trucks too. I checked them out at SEMA earlier in the year and I fell in love. Every so often I see soe on the roads. I'm not fond of the new F150s, they're too boxy for me. But the new Raptors are just amazing. I just wish they weren't $50k.

There's a lot of room under the hood of an F150. I own one and believe me there is lots of room beyond the block and accessories. It wouldn't surprise me if Ford could fit a 6.8L V10 to their new half tons, let alone an entire GT500 setup.

Yeah you're right, I forgot the 4v is DOHC and the 3V is SOHC. I wouldn't think their size is so great in difference, where the 4v wouldn't fit under the hood of an F150. without major modding of the frame. or engine paneling.

I think i know how much My truck weighs, And my 4wd supercrew weighs alot more than what you seem to assume, I weigh in at around 5800 pounds, The NITEMARE is only .20 behind the lightning, and it has close to 1000 pounds more weigh if i am not mistaken. Also the SRT10 is not 4wd, most the roush f150's are 4wd and some all wheel drive, I dont see any other company doing this. Dont knock it tell you drive one.

What do you mean Ford ALWAYS behind everyone? Do you know how long the Lightning has been the fastest stock production truck? The Lightning was made originally to compete against the GMC Syclone and 454SS. Hell, Dodge didn't put out a sports truck until 2004 with the SRT10. So seriously, who's behind now? Oh, and don't forget that the Roush stage 3 isn't a truck, it's a package, added to an existing vehicle. The SRT10 is DESIGNED to be the fastest, the Roush stage 3 package isn't.

They sure sure did, but the single cab is the world's fastest, and compare the fact the Viper motor in the SRT10 is 8.3L pushing just over 500hp, well more than the Roush stage 3 setup. The only Roush stage 3 single cab truck is the Nitemare (limited post-production), claimed by Roush to run the 1/4 mile faster than the Lightning but a simple 1/4 mile run isn't what gives a truck the title of being the world's fastest truck. I love Ford, but nothing they have now can beat the Ram SRT10.

It would be nice to see what would be the next fastest production pickup. Ford can do it, they proved it in 1999 with the release of the 2nd generation Lightning. Dodge needed 125hp to beat the Lightning, and not by a lot either. I would say there's no replacement for displacement, but has anyone ever heard of "engineering"? I know I'll get thumbs down for this, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the next fastest production pickup was a Toyota.

the only reason dodge had to put 125 hp more in the dodge is because they would cut back on weight on the lightning drastically. not only that but ford like all their stock engines have to install a supercharger. dodge had to put a v10 but hey its not supercharged, but pure bone stock. on the other hand i think any brand can take the crown fro fastest pickup. toyota is a big contender but chevy can also do it. check the badass corvette

The Viper engine is just as "pure bone stock" as the Lightning configuration. What would you expect an N/A 5.4L making only 230hp at the crank to run against an N/A 8.3L running 505hp at the crank? In the same era as the 2nd gen Lightning, Ford had no big motor to use. It would cost an arm and a liver to design a huge performance motor from scratch. Easy way: forged internals, supercharger, reflash PCM. It worked, for 5 years until Dodge put the biggest motor they had in a truck.

Is it a bad thing Fords are supercharged? Hell, is it a bad thing any car or truck out there gets a supercharger? In Europe, Ford is releasing a sedan that makes 400hp on the 5.4L 4V powerplant, naturally aspirated.
Emissions standards are fairly strict (assuming you live in the US) and building a vehicle that's safe and reliable comes first. Then, for anyone who wants some extra power without having first bought a gas guzzler can then supercharge. That's just my opinion.

I don't speculate that Ford "couldn't" do it, I just think their biggest aim wasn't to create a sub-supercar, but cars that the greatest percentage of automotive consumers would buy; which are those people who have families, obide by street laws, and just want a little thrill without breaking the bank. Hell, as many Corvettes as there are on the road, look at Mustangs. Better yet, look at how many Mustangs are V6 models. Ford is aiming at the majority, which is your plain average person.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ford. I love the Mustangs. Their body design is most attractive to me of most sports or muscle cars. But for performance, I would take the Corvette any day. I'm just not a strictly-performance kind of consumer, and I know lots of people who are like me, where performance is second to other things more practical for legal city driving.

Perhaps you should read the Motor Trend edition where they looked for the best driver's car. Suprisingly, the Camaro came in last, the Corvette came in 6th, while the Mustang GT500 came in 5th. The drivers thought the Corvette was too unpredictable and therefore not as much fun to drive.

Ford could do it, easily. The 5.4L 4v and 3v are the same size blocks, and a roots-type supercharger fit snugly under the hood. My speculation as to why Ford won't do it is because of cost. It would cost a lot for that motor and blower, transmission, lighten the weight of the truck since it's heavy as hell already, and gas. Right now not enough people can afford a high performance gas guzzler truck. But a GT500 F150 would be awesome and quick as hell though!!

I don't just know it could be done I've seen it been done it fits in and looks completely stock when done right. The hood shuts and the engine is easy to work on.
The reason for this is because the Miata was designed to take the Mazda v6 (but never did) originally and the 4cyl is longer than the 5.0L
Also the 5.0L isn't a big engine its one of the smallest v8s and one of the cheapest. since its small dispacment and pushrod
