This is a timeless classic, iconic of the early 1970's rock and roll. The harmonica, the organ, the simple lyrics, yet a beautiful harmony, basic emotions expressed very fluently. Probably the best of the Hollies extensive works. Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress just doesn't have the authenticity that this song does. Definitely underrated and under played.

The Hollies had so many great songs. Many hits charted higher than Long Dark Road, but in my opinion it's their finest hour. LDR is their masterpiece!

A great song /record ! The lyrics may not indicate it ; it really is an uplifting , optimistic piece-classic rock/oldies radio never seems to play it ; rather the simple minded stuff. Great slideshow too !

Ok now i'm confused, Allan, didnt sing on this recording? This is Michael Rickfors singing right?... Their l973 performance, because it was...live..had more of a ROCK sound to me.......(their live performances are always better)...but LOVE this recording!..also i've read Terry wrote the song, and just today read Tony and a guy named lynch wrote it.
