very similiar to the feelings of actually working on the railroad, I just retired after 32 years on the Union Pacific Rails, and this song reminds me of days of the past.
Oddly enough, it reminds me of that lyric from "The Rainbow Connection" (yes, by Kermit The Frog haha!) "Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection. The lovers, the dreamers, and me laaalala dee..."
the guy in the glasses looks like steven speilberg. and why is it that nebraska has no offense to speak of. honestly you are reminded of nebraska's offense and you literally wonder out loud why the fu*k are we running that screnn play agaain. It must drive you crazy if you are a husker fan. But I must digress, back to the Monsters.
This won't get a grammy. You can go to Pitchfork to see the most critically claim albums of the past 10 years and not once has a top critically acclaimed album won a grammy! The grammies are aweful, but not as pathetic as the AMAs! OScars are the only awards that still have a little class and respect for their industry.
Chad,Thank god the pundits and other critics don't rule.We rule!!We are the guys who buy the tix and download the CD's. Caught these guys Sat. nite and I swear all the critics were in the Lounge sipping on Cosmo's and talking to hookers.
This might sound ridiculous considering the Grammy's are complete trash, but do you think M.O.F might possibly get a grammy nomination? It's one of the most brilliant albums I've ever heard, there's so many soon to be classics on it it's crazy
if you're familiar with each of the four, it's so interesting how you can tell whose wing the others were under for each song. this was mostly m. ward, i'm betting, and Dear God was mostly jim (or "yim", as he likes to be referred to these days). truly, fans of this band are lucky to be alive in a time when beautiful music like this can be heard. NaomiLovesDifferent is right - just like chocolate and peanut butter - magic and delicious.
try to stop this train john mayer, i dare you.

I love M. Ward. His voice is so sexy
and of course I love Conor Oberst. He's the reason why I found out about this band.

I've been making music for 9 months and I'm always looking for inspiration. Today I found two great bands.
Earl Greyhound and Monsters Of Folk.

Until they all formed MOF it was hard to appreciate how much alike all these songwriters styles are.

what is the other MOF song that m. ward is the lead vocalist?

really chill and melodic song, i'm thinking it was mostly M. Ward, it seems like it would fit perfectly in "hold time".
theboss0773 2 years ago
Who actually wrote this song? Was it M. Ward? Or was it a lyrical collaboration of all four?
torithepirate 2 years ago
m. ward did =]
i read it in the new interview with them in this month's issue of american songwriter.

apothegm 2 years ago 4
What are you talking about man, this is basically an M. Ward song with short appearances by Oberst and James.
Not saying it's a bad song or anything... it just doesn't warrant the compliments you gave it, it's too soon to tell. Well in my opinion.
KnotCool 2 years ago
~ no way, saw this train (m ward) coming for a long, long time .... he has, imo, created a new americana music: optomistic & rocking!
