i crew in a 500, and when it is not windy enough to trapeze i make the trapeze wire really short and kind of stand up and lean back. This way, you are just putting some of your weight out without pulling over yourself. Hope that helps :)
What sort of crew weight are you sailing with there? Looks gusty! Is the boat a handfull? Also does a 500 have toestraps for the crew for when its not windy enough for trapeeze?
i have a 500 and i confirm they dont have toestraps for the crew in lighter wind, but generally if you cant keep it up with just the helm hiking, stick your crew out on the trapeze and let the helm sit in abit.
Also you can kinda hike out if you use your trapeze wire while leaning out.
Thank you for the video clip Shockwave40. Im sailing 608 in this one. I know a lot of the members like to watch your videos, so please do keep them comming, Cheers.
The RS 500 looks pretty nice. I am curious--are you faster reaching than a 505? Upwind? Downwind? (I sail a 505 and while it is the only trapeze class left standing in the US in any numbers, I am always curious what the other guys are doing).
