This isn't definitive evidence, but it is VERY interesting. Personally, I think we're the only life forms in the universe, as Kurzweil supports with his mathematical theories regarding accelerating returns. It is not only kind of ignorant. It defies any logical train of thought. And if that opinion is not based on logic, then its basis can not be in the name of science. If its basis is not a scientific one, then that opinion has a basis that lies within one of two domains, emotional or strategical. Strategical because the powers that be do not want to have a loss of control or Emotional because of either intense fear of aliens, or the intense fear of letting go of a belief system.
