I'm not sure if it's your encoding, or just YT destroying the quality, but I was just playing this last night, and on my TV the intro looked and felt like true HD coming from my Wii's component cables. This video is absolute crap, motion blur everywhere, low pixel count (I can see the individual pixels in full screen) and the only difference between the two cables is composite is brighter. No offense, but a comparison video that can't compare shit is shit itself.
@TheMrchampallstar I highly suggest you invest in glasses then, component clearly shows superior color, it's far more rich and vivid than basic composite, you can see how washed out the colors are in composite as where the component, again, is superior.
@VGPlayer78 Unless you have a TV thats too small, you don't have to sit close to see the bowling pins and how much better they look with component. Component on the wii is the only way to get progressive scan, and with composite you get a ton of artifacts, horrible color accuracy, and its interlaced so you will see deinterlacing artifacts on all moving objects.

Component cables are definitely worth the buy. You don't know what 480p is until it's missing. It's also very nice with Gamecube games, it makes progressive scan games 10 times more clear.
I've also noticed that some games look better in 480p than others. Sonic Unleashed is one of them, along with Mario Kart Wii, Mario Sports Mix, Super Mario Galaxy 1/2, DK Country Returns, etc. I thinks games with less textures and detail are able to have higher res textures, and thus is why there's such a big diff. btwn. 480i and 480p. Sonic Colors, for example, has a lot of detailed textures, and Mario Kart Wii looks WAY better than it in 480p. HUGE difference in Super Mario 64, btw.

Did you their is no possible way a Composite can handle progressive scan. But it can handle progressive scan in 240 pixels... But remember, that interlaced is just half the video loaded per frame... So your not actually seeing an image, your seeing half an image, but the frames change so fast you don't know. Whereas Progessive Scan loads the...

I herd that composite video compresses the signal down to one connection. but with component, the colors are in seperate cables resulting in higher quality video.
@techguy348 It is not compressed, just luma and chroma are mixed together so the signal is carried by one wire. Component cables are better because of spearation of each color channel, so they are not affecting each other. By the way, Nintendo's composite ouput is one of the best i've seen. when i had GC i almost didn't noticed any difference between Composite and SCART on CRT TV.
Component will always be far superior on any HD capable TV. Even on an SD set with a box capable of accepting HD signals it will still look way better, no more fuzzy bleed crap.

@rolaahp Nyko's is the best except the offical one, but I highly recommend the official. The official comes with waranty and solid cables and outputs made of good metallic leaders and do not break easily.
Also if you have problems with the cable you can get info how and why from Nintendo or even get it fixed for free. The unofficial ones in the other hand has no waranty.....s
I got mine on ebay for $5 too. Just got them in today. I hooked my wii to my projector using them and I was like WOW! I knew there would be a difference but it's something that is hard to show here on youtube and it also shows way better in person. If your display settings are adjusted for component input then the difference is very noticeable.

I herd that composite video compresses the signal down to one connection. but with component, the colors are in seperate cables resulting in higher quality video.

@techguy348 It is not compressed, just luma and chroma are mixed together so the signal is carried by one wire. Component cables are better because of spearation of each color channel, so they are not affecting each other. By the way, Nintendo's composite ouput is one of the best i've seen. when i had GC i almost didn't noticed any difference between Composite and SCART on CRT TV.

@rafgc1982 Right, My Mom's TV only excepts Component video and not S-Video, nor Composite. Just Component. I hook up my wii using component cables.

Component will always be far superior on any HD capable TV. Even on an SD set with a box capable of accepting HD signals it will still look way better, no more fuzzy bleed crap.
Anyone who says there's barely any difference is either lieing or just has a shite tv.

I lost my Wii's Component cables... if I find one at like Wal-Mart or Radio Shack, would it still fit into the slot in the back? bcuz it doesn't look like it would fit. I just use AV and 12V=n slots & wires. Then I see a USB spot but no place for the opposite side of the Component cables, help Plz? thanks! :)

yes componnent looks better then composite video,especialy if you look at brickthess and white edges you see componnent wins over that,no distortion or discoloring.
too bad not all games work with componnent like vc games many retro nes,snes don,t work eith it,do you,re manytimes forced to use composite again,aaarrrggg!!!!why nintendo do,nt try fix it???

coloring is better more darker (shadows) textures more dept and writing/logos are more clear as component acts like a anti aliasing tool.

@rolaahp Nyko's is the best except the offical one, but I highly recommend the official. The official comes with waranty and solid cables and outputs made of good metallic leaders and do not break easily.
Also if you have problems with the cable you can get info how and why from Nintendo or even get it fixed for free. The unofficial ones in the other hand has no waranty.....s

I got mine on ebay for $5 too. Just got them in today. I hooked my wii to my projector using them and I was like WOW! I knew there would be a difference but it's something that is hard to show here on youtube and it also shows way better in person. If your display settings are adjusted for component input then the difference is very noticeable.

@aussie114 No, Monster Cable's Wii component video cables feature a nitrogen gas injected dielectric that helps the cable maintain exact 75 ohm impedance even when the cable is bent. So you get better blacks, sharper picture, more vivid color because it has less signal degradation than generic component video cable.
