  • You do not need an OnStar subscription to enable Bluetooth, just a Bluetooth enabled phone. When the stereo goes quiet after pressing the talk button, is there any response after you say "Bluetooth?"

  • I am having a similar issue! My 2011 impala was bought pre owned. It was a rental car and so it does not have onstar. When pressing the bluetooth talk button, while in the ON position, there is no voice prompt. The sterio will mute but nothing more.

Is this because onstar was never installed?

Please reply!! I hope you can help save a long drive back to the dealership!

    Thank you!

  • snmreptiles: Thank you for your question, in order for the bluetooth system to be set, make sure the key is in the ignition and turned to the ON/ACC position and then press the phone button to connect your smartphone. Let us know if you continue to have difficulty with the bluetooth function in your Impala.

  • Have tried this a few times and haven't ever had anything happen after holding down the the phone button on my 2011 Impala LT! What am I doing wrong? THANKS!

  • Hey do you need onstar capabilities in order to use bluetooth...i have the steering controls but none on the mirror.
