Try replacing flax seeds with chia seeds. Chia seeds won't go rancid as easy, have more omega3s, soluble and insoluble fiber and better overall nutrition imo. Also chia seeds have really subtle taste!
Jen- you are not alone! My preschooler and I always do the shake dance when I make him smoomthies or my protein shakes. I even let him come watch you move it! Thanks for giving us a smile and a giggle.
any suggestions on bringing home frozen food from Whole Foods, when it's over an hour away? I mean I have the cooler and ice but I worry about getting frozen berries and such and getting back with soup! Also what about making up smoothes/shakes is it better to make it and drink, or could I make up say 3 or 4 days-this has to do with that long drive and soft frozen fruit.
@Legomamato6 If you come prepared with a cooler and some freezer packs you should be good to go. I would not recommend making shakes in advance because they'll become more liquid-ish, less shake-ish.
Love this video! Was looking at how to make my own shakes. Which Vita Mix do you have? Looking at getting one but not sure which model to get, thanks! Can't wait to see the next video in the series.
You can use Vacuum Freezer System from Ziploc. I use this for my "guineos" (bananas) and last several months in the freezer like a fresh, yellow, firm ones. :)
Thank you for the great tip on bananas. I was about to give up buying them, since so many of them turn brown before I can eat them. I love bananas when they are green/yellow and firm too. Once they start turning brown, I cannot even imagine eating them.
I am totally going to make this shake today. Also, Soy has the same amount and type of whole protein as meat. It is the only thing in the world that can compare to the protein found in meat.
I would really recommend that you not use whey protein it is really not good for you and I believe that even the TIU ladies now recommend brown rice protein instead of whey. Particularly since you have IB you should try to eliminate dairy. Some good alternatives are Bocu and Sun Warrior protein, super healthy and both are delicious :)
Thanks for the video, Jen. I just started drinking a protein drink w/chocolate whey powder. I'm going to try it w/the unsweetened coconut milk. Think it will taste like a liquid Mounds Bar? Hmmm...
I am loving your videos! I hope they continue...turns out, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! ;)
