Hey guys! So I watched the movie a couple days ago with my mum and wow.. Great film! I was really happy with how they chose to show it from caesar's pov and didn't entirely focus on franco like i thought it would. It was way better than expected and I'm looking forward to the sequel. 4.5/5 schmoes for me :)

The smurfs have better CGI than this movie. The Apes look totally fake and unmovable. They walk around like sticks and look stiff sometimes...The CGI was mediocre...ILM should have done the effects, not WETA. It was a good story and I did like that, but why did they need Humans to play the apes on bluescreen? when humans don't even move like apes.makes no sense. Jar Jar looks better than ceasar, they should have used real apes in the bluescreen, not human actors. how do human actors move apes?
This is the best movie of the year, so far. The acting was Oscar worthy, especially the work of Andy Serkis, who played the main ape, Caesar. The story was well written. The special effects were superbly done. Every aspect of this film was Hollywood at its best.

So i just saw The Rise. I loved it. I agreewith these homo-sapiens. It looked good visually, but it wasnt in any excess. I wish directors and movie companies could just take a cue from this movie and just actually put the title characters be the focus of 75-90% of the movie. I guess I'm the only person who didn't think this movie was amazing. I have to see it again I guess. Maybe I was tired. I thought this was a great origin story and amazing Caesar character development, but presented at an odd pace. The over the top "corporate greed" representation was ridiculous. Would have been much less corn if they made you kind of root against Franco for his evil ambition (like MacBeth), but ultimately redeem himself the way he did at the end... It was amazing, Andy Serkis and Ceaser are amazing, and (say what you may about the guy, but) James Franko did a brilliant job. He's getting (or has) his doctorate in real life, so I had no trouble believing his performance.
Great review, guys! I really want to see this. I recently ordered the original film so I can watch it again before going into this, and I have a feeling I'm going to love this.
I'm assuming they bring the ape's faces to life in a similar way that Avatar did. I'm not sure if the apes speak or not in this movie. I'm assuming they do. I hated Tim Burton's version but was a huge fan of the original.
I'm not concerned that it doesn't match the story of the original. If done properly, this could very well surpass the original by a long shot, and the original is amazing, mostly because of the story, dialog and make up.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a fantastic character driven movie that deserves a lot of Oscar buzz for its technical achievements and the best leading actor performance so far this year by Andy Serkis.
this was a great movie, my favorite part was when the big gorilla leaped for the helicopter and that boss guy asking for help just before the helicopter fall's into the water.
This movie kinda reminds me of X-Men: Firsr Class, in the sense that not many ppl thought it was gonna be a good movie but instead it ended up being a great movie. I still haven't seen this movie but i'm hoping i'm able to see this weekend.
BTW since the summer movies are officially over, what are your "Top 5" best???
the craziest part of this movie is when ceasar grabs malfoy and malfoy is like "get your stupid ape hands off of me!" and then ceasar just freaking screams "NOOOOO!" everyone in the movie theaters jaws were on the ground.
I loved the movie. The only thing is to me it was a little slow and I wanted more. But I guess that's a sign of a good movie if you want more. Did you guys see the seen in the credits? @bobertochuck Yeah you can handle this movie there isn't any sexual content beyond people kissing. The violence is minimal, there isn't a bunch of blood and guts flying around. This is a movie to be seen for sure. when I went to go see it there were a few children in the theater younger than yourself. So I hope this helps because this movie, and Caesar, were awesome.
@bobertochuck Ellis here, I think it's safe for someone your age to see as well. Some mature themes to be sure, but more importantly there's some really interesting discussions you guys can have after the movie is over. Just don't ask for a pet monkey afterwards :)

This movie was really good!!! You really felt for Caesar and although he has no dialogue in the movie you could see every emotion in his eyes and his actions. It was AWESOME!!! Highly recommend this movie to anyone. You guys were dead on with the rating. I'd give it the same.
I Love it. What interests me the most is that to many people you either hate the red trunks or love them. In this photo you can't tell if he has them or not. So interested to see whether he has the classic trunks or not.
i have question did they just take the movie in a new direction without the nuke war cus in the original planet of the apes the apes inherited the earth after we blew each other up with nukes i mean i live the trailers but im very faithful to the original story form the first movie and if they changed it to that there is no atomic Holocaust I'm not going to enjoy it as much.

@THEBIGCAGEY you are getting unproportionally angry to the relatively benign comment i made. My point was that they eventual do which makes no rational sense due to the huge difference in numbers we have on them . not to mention only a handful were infected with the gas. none in africa or south america will get the "cure" so i dont understand how it can spread.

The only issue I had with the movie is I think that the humans gave up too easily at the end. Like.. "Ah crap... they made it past the line. Let's call it a day folks."

@schmoesknow hopefully it will have more transformers, and less humans. I mean we saw more of the parents then optimus. It should of been called "Humans doing random shit featuring giants robots" even though i enjoyed the films especially DOTM and the schmoes personal favorite "Revenge of The Fallen". But this can't really be a sequel to the original.
If this is how the apes took over, they would know where they came from and have pretty decent technology and understanding of the world.
But in the original, their dwellings were very primitive, they had silly creation myths and they thought flight was a scientific impossibility.
Plus the most famous scene of the movie which explains everything implies their was a nuclear holocaust ending human civilization.

I liked the movie and the fact that I work (summer job) in a preclinical facility didn't help me notice the 25 mistakes that the scenarios.
I live in Canada so maybe our compagnies are smarter, but:

2) Bright Eyes was pregnant, gave birth and nobody noticed it??? come on. The technicians suck.
Still I liked the movie very much! I'm gonna buy all the other ones

I Love it. What interests me the most is that to many people you either hate the red trunks or love them. In this photo you can't tell if he has them or not. So interested to see whether he has the classic trunks or not.

i have question did they just take the movie in a new direction without the nuke war cus in the original planet of the apes the apes inherited the earth after we blew each other up with nukes i mean i live the trailers but im very faithful to the original story form the first movie and if they changed it to that there is no atomic Holocaust I'm not going to enjoy it as much.

@THEBIGCAGEY you are getting unproportionally angry to the relatively benign comment i made. My point was that they eventual do which makes no rational sense due to the huge difference in numbers we have on them . not to mention only a handful were infected with the gas. none in africa or south america will get the "cure" so i dont understand how it can spread.

I put video response because it is our anniversary review. One year ago that we started this fun thing. We absolutely loved this film. Gave it five bagels. Even Mr. Critical loved it. He did think the marketing campaign sucked. Makes it look cheezy. Such an intelligent film. Great review guys as always

@schmoesknow hopefully it will have more transformers, and less humans. I mean we saw more of the parents then optimus. It should of been called "Humans doing random shit featuring giants robots" even though i enjoyed the films especially DOTM and the schmoes personal favorite "Revenge of The Fallen". I just want to see more Transformers and less humans.
