Mechanically, things move for two reasons, momentum or to move to a lower energy state.

Momentum is due to a previous energy input and can never increase without a source of consumable energy.

Lower energy states require the system to be different at the end compared to the start eg a brick pushed of a table falls to the ground. Magnetic systems are the same.

So a rotating system can never work (unless it consumes power) because every turn is at the same energy level as the previous one.

it would be a magnet mill not perpetual motion it would have an energy source and produce less energy than it used. but for something like this to work it would have to be able accelerate from any point you stop it (constant acceleration till top speed is reached). if you place it at a certain point that starts the machine even though you didnt give it a push with your hand it still was given a push and WILL eventually stop.

@icarus3375 the problem is that when its in between the points on the wheel that repell its not just slowing down it also wants to stop there. and i know what your thinking just add more magnets right (maybe 2 for each one like in the video) but even with more you will run into similar problems. i took physical science about 10 years ago if im wrong for any reason or if im all out talking out of my ass i apologize...... so i dont care to hear the reasons why im wrong

Sorry but if you pause this every now and then and just look at the relationship of the magnets you will clearly see where it will stop.  I don't want to argue. I believe something like this must be possible but this just won't work.remember if the rotor magnets and the stationary magnet are opposing eachother and pushing; they are pushed back when approaching eachother. Unless you turn off the magnets when then approach eachother and then turn them on once they pass eachother.

The energy push the wheel is half of the energy stopping it. Unlike gravity, magnets is a force souce and not flow source. Therefore, using large inertia will be more efficient. This does not violate any science. Science just did not realize there are two parts of a force, action and reaction. At any given moment we are already moving at high speeds through space - we just don't feel it. Magnets are not lazer beams this doesn't work. Think of the force as a globe.. they are going to push away the income magnet like a brake. No 45 degree magnetic motor design will ever work.

The material type used also matters including distance, if the center piece contained metal and bearings, the magnetic force would impact the entire center structure negatively, pushing downward or pulling outward that would be like setting something heavy on top and increase drag and pressure on the parts causing failure or slow speed with sticking. it's like screwing a screw in with an old high powered drill, once screw goes into surface it'd stick and begin riping the head up due to pressure.

The angle should match exactly the same exact angle of the outer magnets to create a constant diretion and speed otherwise there's a reverse drag/pull effect that can do 1 of the following, either it starts sticking and stops suddenly, or it doesn't go fast enough and the speed shifts to slow fast and pressure wobbles the surface. WHich would eventually ruin bearings if they use any, which eliminating bearings eliminates friction and part wear slows down the rotational force.

The problem with the above design is it doesn't look effecient, it doesn't look like it would produce a high RPM and run smoothly enough because the magnetic force probably wouldn't be strong enough to drive it's momentum regularly enough. It looks like a CD/DVD holder and steper motor concept, the biggest problem is the angle ot the magnets and parts sticking out in the center is a reverse drag.

Just like if you turn headlights on with car door's open and run stereo with a battery with a low CCA and bulky electronics after lights will dim, that's why people install a capacitor to act as an extra battery to handle electrical consumption like that do with powerlines and houses so the battery and lower Amp alternator isn't so burdened and you've got more energy stored for greater consumption when the battery and alternator's weak to handle all the electrical power draw.

For the same reason a lithium ion is better than a nickel cadium as it doesn't feature the memory affect, for the same reason a car battery with a higher CCA cold cranking amp rating makes car starting easier by providing more energy to handle higher energy consumeption from the load applied when alternator's not running and car is first starting. It's the same reason you can get an alternator that handles 72 Amp, or you can have a 180 Amp etc...

I am no engineer and have never really given magnetism much thought. You call it a physical force; ok. I find it interesting that most of the videos claiming free power include discussion surrounding magnetism or electromagnetism. Electromagnetism suggests input of electricity, so conservation of energy principle might apply, but what about simple magnetism? It exists and exerts force. Couldn't that force operate electrical generation? Just wondering.

They key is converting one form of energy into the form of energy you desire. kinetic/physical energy is used to make generators convert physical force into electrical output via rotational movement and magnetic force that creates a radiated electrical field known as electricity. A dam take water flow and physically rotates generators which are nothing more than electrical motors. Wind and turbine due the same. A gasoline engine in a gas generator or car or riding mower does this too.

Convert windmill turbine to vertical turbine to produce a bit more constant power and operate and lower wind conditions. Oh and put some neodynium magnets at the exact angle the pc fan blades the direction they are facing, place some magnets underneath at same exact matching angle, have it vertically and eliminate some weight and should have constant rotation. get rid of friction and walla.

Convert an existing high output car alternator into a wind generator and connect to standard car batteries and use inverter. Use same wiring, remove the alternator and install replace with solar panel and that works too, an amp gauge is good with a good inverter. Ventilate the batteries with a fan and airduct that goes outside house and walla.

In a maglev train electromagnets are used. It appears that in this model, permanent magnets are used. That's how motion is perpetuated, by using energy to push the train along. The problem with permanent magnets is that they degauss. And yes I think everyone understands that an ETERNALLY perpetual machine is impossible, krishields, but if you can make a machine run for even just a full day without attending to it you're on to an idea that will be sufficient for solving many problems.

In order to find possibility in an idea like this, one has to have a lack of understanding of how magnetic lines of force work.

The only way to get energy out of magnetic repulsion is to put it in initially. There is no "gateway" that will save the day; you can't sneak up on a magnet and steal force from it, regarless of what angle you approach it from.

It doesn't work in theory or practice.

Nice video! I'm abit surprised anyone, little alone Steorn, would bother with this design. Messed with this and variations of it, but could never achieve anything. There have been 2 examples of this same concept on youtube for months that were dead ends.
