I got this notebook for around $1800 in Australia (12GB RAM, 1.5TB HDD, GTX 560M, i72670Q) and it is perfect, brilliantly designed, looks great, has a ton of useful features and runs like a dream in all circumstances. I can't say anything on endurability or warranty, I've only had it about 1 month, but I have had no problems with it yet.
Compared to AlienWare, ASUS wins by a mile. All reports I've had from AlienWare users have been negative, while the ASUS notebooks are always ahead.
nice notebook, i love china product too bad my old Asus almost 5 yrs old and still dont have any problem yet.well, i might buy this G53 Soon. thanks for video.
i just ordered this, it's half the price of an Alienware in the same " and graphic card.. so i just felt that it was a better buy... send me a message for questions.
@TheErikus You just stated you need 120mhz refresh rate. The $1200 Asus has that. Thus it has 3D. You just want to justify your Sager purchase by showing a more expensive laptop to a laptop in the $1200 range. You find another company offering the Asus specs at Asus prices and I will concede. The specs must be comparable. 2gb to 4gb is not comparable.
I'm showing proof of my arguments while you're trying to make your opinion a fact.
This computer is not worth 1500 price asked for it. You can get a better computer not made in china for that. That's all! It's a cool laptop, but try playing Metro 2033 on high definition... You will get 8 fps most... Out of crysis 2 ultra maybe 15 - 18 fps tops on this asus.
I am thinking about G53, not G73 because I might as well take a desktop with me then. Anyways, the only issue that I have is "1.73 GHz". That's really low. That caught me by surprise, usually Asus will not overlook things like that nature. 1.73 GHz for a gaming laptop doesn't seem right. Cause who the heck wants to be overclocking the system all the time. 2.2 GHz and I would ve purchased it already! I might end up going with a desktop, for the same price I can get 3.8 GHz, no portability though
@TheErikus u know most games don't use more than 2 cores so automatically the i7 will overclock 2 cores when the other 2 are on idle. I think it automatically OC it 2.8 GHz, its called Turbo boost. Can't believe u're spending so much money yet know so little about these
@wazzaa4u Dude I am just doing my shopping and this is the lowest GHz of all gaming laptops I have seen. Go check maingear . com or sagernotebooks . com. Those are true beasts... oh yes, they are not entirely made in china either... Sorry I am just one of those people that does a lot of research and don't get emotional about something just cause it looks and resembles a lamborghini.
@TheErikus You should read more about the i7 capabilities. It will OC itself dynamically to 2.8ghz, if I remember correctly, when a program demands that much power. 1.73 is not low in this respect.
@TheEndurs It's Low in the respect of comparing to other true game computers using a price as a reference. Check out maingear . com, sagernotebooks . com, originpc . com. Those are true beasts.
Maingear - does not come with a mouse, or case. The video card in maingears is a 540m vs Asus 460M - the 460M is better. If you upgrade the i5 to an i7 at 2.2ghz, add $244. Maingear's HD is only 250gb. Asus has super mutli DVD rom over Maingears Dual Layer. So if we upgrade Maingear's HD and processor the price is $1,449.75 to Asus at $1,189.99 - Again I will declare the Asus the winner, with the better gfx card over this $300 processor increase.
Respond to this video... Let's tear up some OriginPC now. Without customizing this laptop any, the price starts at $1,622 and ships with an i5 to Asus i7. Hmmm. It also ships with only 2gb of RAM. A 250gb HDD. If we upgrade these components this "beast" costs $1,848. Again, I declare Asus the beast of ALL these laptops for price and bang.
@TheEndurs Just realized I looked at the wrong Maingear notebook. Moreover, it is an i5 at 2.5ghz and dynamic OC at 3.2ghz. I still don't think the processor increase is worth a smaller HDD and 400 bucks.
@TheEndurs Exactly you can have I7 and 485M which is basically 2x faster than 460M graphics card for a bit more on maingear and sager. Asus doesn't even offer that option since their customers are not hardcore gamers. Sorry bro but when it comes to gamers Asus has a lot to learn from those companies. I am not the one saying it, go to cnet.com. Maingear has editor's choice computers for gamers. Asus doesnt. As I said i was ready to purchased that Asus but ended up going with Sager 485M for $1900
Respond to this video... @TheErikus Sagernotebook - $1,479.00 Asus g35 - $1,189.99. The -only- difference shown in these laptops is the sager is 2.0ghz to Asus 1.73ghz. $300 is too much for .27ghz increase. The sager also ships Windows 7 - 32 Bit. Add another $60 for a 64bit. It also shops with 320gb HD over Asus 500gb HD. Sorry bud, Asus beats this laptop for price to performance. Sager loses.
@TheEndurs Not to mention that Sager offer countless options to customize 1 laptop. Asus gives you 1 graphics card option and that's it. Sager / Maingear / Origin / Battalion offer several graphics cards Radeons, Nvidias. You won't have a pretty computer like Asus, but you will get a maingear from the USA not from China, with a great customer support... Anyways if you can spare a few more dollars you get what you pay for!
@TheErikus You do realize you are comparing an Asus priced at $1200 to your $1900 Sager? That's a $700 dollar difference which is a far cry from "a bit more". Sure you can buy a better laptop for $1900 dollars. That's like trying to compare a Kia to a BMW, relatively speaking.
I bet none of those Sager parts came from China though. That's probably true....
I own several Asus products and I've had not a single problem with the cards or customer support.
@TheEndurs Lol that's not the same product. I don't know who you think you are talking to, but the one from the title of this video is ON sale on newegg for 1500 down from 1800! N82E16834220877 So it just happens to be on sale cause it's outdated. Anyways, the Graphics card 485M by itself costs 400 more than 460M... Sager's 460M is cheaper than this 1500... Plus you get a much better computer overall!
@TheEndurs Uhh that product number doesn't match the one from the description on this video. This one does N82E16834220877 which is 1500 on sale instead of 1800. Anyways, it's a 460M which in comparison to 485M is about 400 dollars cheaper. If you get a sager with 460M you get for the same 1500 and a much better product overall.
@TheErikus Wrong again. This one is 3D. None of the products on the other websites offer a 3D laptop. I am comparing your "beast" notebooks with the comparable Asus notebooks. Since Sager does not have a 3D laptop, you cannot rightfully compare those prices.
@TheEndurs Lol look at video description. 3D...that throws your argument right out the window. Do u know what you need to make a laptop 3D? a 120 Hz refresh rate screen which all sagers are since they are built in the same body. Go check sagers website dude, check this stock as it comes model NP8150-S1. It comes with with radeon gamecard that is 2x faster than 460M... There is NO comparison!!! for $1700. Because you bought the Asus doesnt make it better. It's like comparing Audi to a Chevy car
@TheEndurs Lol look at description on video, says 3D... so that throws your argument away right there. All you need for a 3D notebook is a 120Hz refresh rate screen which ALL the sagers are. Although for that option on Chinese Asus you need 400 bucks! It's like comparing a BMW to Chrysler. Check out the Sager NP8170-S1 stock one. Comes with graphics card 2x faster than ANY Asus... Enough said!
@TheErikus You complained about processor speed in your first post. Now it's moved on to video cards, screens, etc. The Asus G35JW (the newegg product I linked) screen states "15.6-inch LED screen, with 60-120Hz refresh rate." 3D for $1200. I win.
@TheErikus You're obviously comparing the 2nd gen sandy bridge processors to the first gen i7 processors which isn't fair since obviously they're faster. I thought you're comparing this model's i7 to other i7's. Anyways, sandy bridge is fast but in terms of gaming its not going to give u a huge edge because 4 cores -8 threads is way overkill atm.
@SLIPKNOT0fan1 The reason for that is for people who plays high demanding games, that would cause most laptops to overheat and therefore decrease performance. If you don't like the way it looks, then you need a multimedia laptop, they tend to be sleek, but they won't have the same cooling components, so playing for hours is a NO NO. Gaming laptops will tend to be bulkier due to its contents, such as the graphics card, etc. Multimedia laptops can still be quite fast.
watched this on a G73, after having been inspired to buy one buy the original vid.. Then realized that this is the exact same vid they used for the G73 with different and a slightly different rear-fan shot and product numbers.
I don't even PLAY pc games but I want this laptop just because it won't be outdated and slow for at least 5 years. 16GB of RAM possible? Holy fuck. 1.5GB DDR5 video? Holy fuck. i7-740? Holy fuck. I probably would start playing PC games if I get this laptop, which I will in a few days.
U can have same graphics on g53 I think thats the best option with a big diference! none else will offer a 15.6" laptop working with 4cores at 3.33ghz and 16gb ram with gtx460 or either the 480... its the best choice in the world!
I got this notebook for around $1800 in Australia (12GB RAM, 1.5TB HDD, GTX 560M, i72670Q) and it is perfect, brilliantly designed, looks great, has a ton of useful features and runs like a dream in all circumstances. Hello,
I called Asus Support Belgium and they told me they didn't know for sure if you could replace the HDD without voiding the warranty.
Now my question is if you know if you can replace the HDD with and SSD without voidng the warranty.
MaSSaSlaYeR 1 year ago
@MaSSaSlaYeR
We checked with ASUS support for you, and we are afraid that the answer is that replacing the HDD by yoursel will actually void the warranty.
Hope it helps.
