It may seem goofy now, but when the Danzig VHS this clip is taken from first came out in the Spring of 1990, there was NOTHING else like it at the time. Back then, it was mostly goofy glam bands like Poison, Motley Crue, etc. putting out vids of their silly antics -- this was considered very dark, twisted & controversial in its day. I remember first seeing this as a teenager w/ some dwindling faith in Christianity at the time, and being SHOCKED by the "Jesus killing children" bit...

LOL! Come on man! I mean.... I dig Danzig and I was a HUGE Misfits fan back in the day, but this is ridiculous. Kneeling shirtless with wrist bands infront of his bookcase.... "These are my books. They're dark, like me. I'm an intellectual. It may seem goofy now, but when the Danzig VHS this clip is taken from first came out in the Spring of 1990, there was NOTHING else like it at the time. Back then, it was mostly goofy glam bands like Poison, Motley Crue, etc. putting out vids of their silly antics -- this was considered very dark, twisted & controversial in its day. I remember first seeing this as a teenager w/ some dwindling faith in Christianity at the time, and being SHOCKED by the "Jesus killing children" bit...

@GenocideGod Ahem...I was referring to the HOME VIDEO itself, which was unique among OTHER HOME VIDEOS widely available at the time. I am well aware that Danzig was not the only one doing anything like this MUSICALLY at the time, and that death & black metal date back to at least the early 80's -- though those genres weren't as widespread then as they are now, and Danzig still managed to put his own unique "spin" on things.

yeah uh...i doubt danzig was "influenced" iggy's fashion sense or lack there of...perhaps his music but emulating someone not weairing a shirt.....who the fuck cares if he has a shirt on or not...the point is that samhain and the misfits and danzig's solo work broke away from alot of the generic sound that punk was taking...there is no formula here ...and no music prior or since accomplished what these bands did
