Considering this is a technical nightmare to play because its so busy, I could care less what it sounds like or what gear is being used. @passion4drums They are supposed to be about 1 inch from the rim, that is where Overtones resonate from, and the purpose of the moongel to is to eliminate overtone in studio recording (i.e. Small rooms, not concert halls). Trust me, I do recording and live gigs. I would suggest investing in a set of Aquarian Studio Rings, they can be easily taken on or off and are a cheap alternative to foam internal rings.

@alentris oh well i usually cut one piece of moon gel in half, and put it touching the rim on the snare. if i use a whole piece or put the half piece anywhere you suggest, there will be absolutely NO overtone. and i want a lot, but not too much.

@passion4drums That works well for anything outside/concert. Which is just fine. The great thing about moongels is that they can be moved for any scenario, and when recording in a small room, overtone is a BAD thing. So they should be moved for a small room.

The SlipKnoT black coated Alpha's are 'ok' cymbals but even though they were marketed as the cymbals Joey used they most certainly are not. That's the one time Paiste have marketed average cymbals as really incredible ones. They certainly look fucking epic and don't get me wrong they sound WAY better than my shitty cymbals. I'm just saying that people were misinformed about those cymbals. :)

This set is actually really nice just not tuned properly. I have no room to talk. My set is pretty shit. But that's cause my drummer for my band uses it and he loves to break heads!!!! I enjoy my onyx double coated evans heads. They are REALLY nice. Try a drumdial I bet people will stop complaining about the sound :D.

wrong. this set is fucking badass, it just needs to be tuned right. i typically play death metal & I use emad 2 batter on the kick, and ec2s on the tom batters. but really, it's all in the tuning. if you can't tune by ear (it's difficult without a lot of practice), just buy a drumdial. $70. your drums will never sound better and never again will they sound this bad. by the way, you don't need the moongel on the toms. They just make em sound dull, when they could be full of attack and resonance.

you are an outstanding drummer, you have the ideal metal drum set, perfect drum heads (I too use Evans), but you should've gone with the Zildjian Pitch Black series of cymbals (they are much better than the BlackAlpha's). By the way, what headphones are you using in this video? They look very nice.
