dts not at all caramel macchiato..macchiato means marked..we marked milk with espresso.so shot of espresso is de last...en in starbucks 2 pumps voor a tall size.3 for grande and 4 for venti..
wow everyone thinks there is only one way to do things. (AKA there way) i believe there are many ways to make coffee. some are better than others, but why do things b/c someone said this is the way things have to be done? coffee is diverse. starbucks makes good coffee, but who let them make the rules? if you love coffee, seek the adventure of the drink. it's a life long journey hop on it's is a fun ride!
Yeah... This is definitely not a Caramel Macchiato. At Starbucks, a Grande drink has 2 pumps of vanilla. Then you stream the milk to get an inch of foam, not two, and free pour it into the cup. DO NOT hit pitcher on counter as it will separate the foam. Also, NEVER add hot milk into a cup that had cold milk. Brew the espresso and "mark" the macchiato with it. Then you swirl, zig zag left and right, then up and down the caramel sauce. NO WHIP! And you don't mix the vanilla and milk with a spoon!
The way I was taught.... pre starbucks.... Is 1st layer..Espresso/vanilla syrup, 2nd layer...Steamed extra frothy half and half (not skim or 2% or whole), 3rd layer Heavy whip cream and 4th layer..sealed...smothered...completely topped off with caramel... so much caramel you can't even see the whip cream... This is not a drink for the weak and calorie conscious drive threw coffee connoisseur.. it should also be served in a clear glass to show the layers... not a Styrofoam/paper cup..
Everyone is entitled to their own method of creating a Macchiato, but Starbucks Caramel Macchiatos are layered; vanilla syrup>steamed milk>stir>foam>2oz shot espresso>caramel. What you've demostrated is not a starbucks drink but your own method.
no offense, but you know it means to mark and yet you don't mark the foam in your "version" of this non macchiato!! You made a caramel/vanilla latte not a macchiato!
"Are you getting sick of watching this? I hope so.." Thanks for making this fun :-)

I agree. This is a caramel/vanilla latte.
The shots of espresso should have been added after the milk was poured over Vanilla syrup, and caramel should only go on top of the drink.
Y'know, since you're trying to emulate SBUX and all..
