Earnhardt wasn't very good at MIS (two lucky June wins and zippo at the August event) where it takes a smooth driving style to win. Add the torque curve advantage that the Fords had made Earnhardt a backmarker and not a threat to win at most MIS races.
@Longlakedreaming LOLOLOL.....two lucky wins? I remember one of those lucky wins when he outran Ernie Irvan all day to win it. I believe that Elliott was behind the winner in those two lucky wins for Earnhardt too. Earnhardt was never a backmarker at any track he ran at. However, at the tracks where it takes the most skill, namely the short tracks, Elliott was always a backmarker. At least you got one cup in 1988 and Elliott in Michigan to remember. Keep on dreaming. Fordfanboy. Hahaha
@LT1HILLINGHOE I was at the June 1987 race, Davey Allison would have passed him if the race was one lap longer, he was a couple of tenths faster per lap and was closing fast. The June 1990 event, Bill was leading Earnhardt by a half a lap with a dozen laps to go but blew an engine due to an oil leak. Earnhardt wasn't very good at MIS, as he never even won in August. He wasn't very good at California. It took him until the Fall event at Dover in 1988 to even finish on the lead lap.
@TheMichaelJB Dale beat Ernie Irvan in 1990 with Bodine and Martin in tow. Dale won Dover two times....yeah he wasn't very good there either bwahaha. Face it homie, you can't tug on Superman's cape. Earnhardt was and will always be the greatest.
p.s. How many times did Elliott win California? Nada
@LT1HILLINGHOE They were over a half a lap behind Elliott in 1990 with a dozen laps to go. How many Daytona 500's and Pepsi 400's did Earnhardt win? One each is the correct answer. Only two wins at Pocono as well. Only two wins at MIS, Daytona and Pocono and one road course win? Hardly Superman in my book. David Pearson didn't have such weak tracks. Neither did Richard Petty or Jeff Gordon. I'm not saying Bill was in those guys league, but he stronger then Earnhardt at a handfull of tracks.
@TheMichaelJB He won two Pepsi 400's. And he also won 34 times at Daytona. And three wins at Dover is correct. I love how you say "Only two wins" at certain tracks being as there are so many tracks, having "only two wins" is super. How many short tracks did Pearson win? Gordon will retire a 4 time champ...and petty would only have about 35 or 40 wins if all those mid week dirt track races he won against nobodys didn't count.
See 'ya kid.
Big E...the greatest ever in any form of racing!!!!
@LT1HILLINGHOE My error, he did win two Pepsi 400's. 34 times at Daytona, but only three of them were points races. Having two wins at a track over a 15-20 year plus career is not super if there are two events per year at that track. DW and Rusty at Bristol, and Elliott, Pearson and Cale all had seven wins and more at MIS. Your guy had Talladega. The majority of Pearson wins in 1966,1968-69 (running the full schedule and won three Cups) were short track wins. Petty had 69 wins on current tracks.
@TheMichaelJB Petty didn't have 69 wins after 71, the end of the old era where every five and dime track against nobodys with no money was counted. And only 2 cups.
@LT1HILLINGHOE Petty had 69 wins on these current Cup tracks, Daytona, Lowes/Charlotte, Bristol, Atlanta, MIS, Pocono, Dover, Richmond, Martinsville, Talladega and Darlington. I don't care if some of them came during 1961-71, they were very much then as they are now with the exception of the increased banking at Bristol and Richmond punched from a 1/2 mile to a 3/4 mile track in 1988. Petty won the Cup in 1972, 1974, 1975 and 1979. That would be double your claim of two.
@TheMichaelJB "My guy" was a master of the short tracks. His record proves it. You do know that every fact you try to put up here is good news for Earnhard fans. They make him look like Superman.. So keep on, fordfanboy.
@LT1HILLINGHOE DW had way more wins then Earnhardt at each of the four small tracks (including North Wilksboro). Your guy was way over matched on the road courses by Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd, Mark Martin, Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, and even Ernie Irvan.

Tells you how crashes are now- the announcers (now) don't place as much emphasis on "being ok" as they did in this video.

How can you tell it wasn't Earnhardt's fault? The angle on it is not good at all.

I agree That was a perty crappy angle
