He's a real talent but what choice did he have with parents like Richard and Linda Thompson? There's a similarity to Neil Finn as well without the Beatles influence...
This song spells out my relationship with my father. I sent it to him when I finally let him go after realizing there was, sadly, nothing else I could do.
"I'm turning into me, not you. I can change my mind, not my blood" - surely this song is about Teddy's relationship with his absent father, not just some generic break up song. Anyone agree?
@gsjbaldwin He has the same melancholic tone to his voice that his mother has. His singing style actually reminds me a lot of hers...boy, talent sure runs in that family.
this song literally gives me the cries that i know i will never cry for anything or anyone in this life, but my love .. and i hate the stupid shivers afterwards .. anyways <3 this song ..
Buy Teddy Thompson's music, if you want to continue to hear great songs like this. His record sales are poor, so his music label/company may dump him if things don't improve.
See the February 6, 2011 New York Times article "The Artistry Is Apparent, So Where’s the Audience?"
This is a perfect song for how you feel after a breakup with someone you truely loved. It depics the feelings that still linger for awhile after even when you don't want them to. Fookin awsome song.
I've not heard this before...but love it!! sensitive, genuine, heartfelt, reflective, hopeful, lonely, memories, earnest, rejection, want, you, and then
who hasn't wanted these things sorted into resolution with the one they love?
How ironic... My boyfriend and I just broke up and we are still trying to figure out if we want to be together again. I'm feeling a lot of this right now.. :(
Hauntingly beautiful. I just learned that his parents were famous folk rock musicians, Richard and Linda. Listening to them, I see that he has inherited the beatiful soulful voice from them, with his own contemporary twist. It's so nice to hear a truly good voice, great song, and depth of feeling. Thanks Teddy. Thanks to the person who put this on youtube.

He overall talent doesn't exceed his father's. But his pipes do. A truly golden voice.

this is his best song and it's not country (like the rest). he should completely switch to indie or even contemporary folk.
