Finally managed to pick up a 360. This was the first game I bought. Can safely say it is one of the best Tales games ever, if not one of the best JRPGs ever. Just awesome

I very rarely replay any game, but I'm already 30 hours into my ex-game in Vesperia and still loving every minute of it. Raven is definitely my favourite, but I love Yuri's darker side, doing what the law can't.
Yuri is so badass... I love so much the characters of this game! And I mean all of them... seriously! Even Estelle has a character development!
This game is epic! And Yuri is my favourite heroe of all time! I love the way he acts, the way he talks... All of him please me and it's great for a rpg heroe!
@devilholdscards Really, Raven reminds you of Spike? I would say Yuri is much more like Spike than Raven is. They both have that laid back attitude where everything rolls off them, asides being very badass. Plus Spike had none of Raven's pervertedness xD
9/10, such a fun and awesome game with a fun battle system and great characters. The only downsides are that the plot is pretty cliched and there's very little character development. This still is a must buy game if you like jrpgs.

i think my favorite characters of the game are yuri, judith, rita and raven. raven kinda reminds me of myself except im 14 ;P like at the one skit in the game where judith says she could show a little more. and raven says "YES OH GOD YES!" that reminds me of myself haha
Man Yuri was definitely probably my favorite JRPG character ever. The dude just oozed cool sauce, and really made the entire game for me. When Yuri burried that guy in the desert I cheered for the realness. Yuri kept it realistic and not a dreamy fantasy of the world. He saw bad he stepped in handled his shit and dipped. And for gods sake he had Judith, Judith!!!
I've always played RPG's, stuff like Pokemon or Fire Emblem but I was never big into the genre, then one day at my local library I rented this game because of the anime style cover, I had no expectations and it's the reason why RPGs, more so JRPGs are my favorite genre. And every time I hear this opening I always remember that one week I had it and couldn't put it down. Sound overly sentimental? Well screw off because this is still one of my favorite games of all time!

I'm loving this game. 28 hours of gameplay so far and it looks like I still have plenty to go. Characters are awesome and the story is huge. Fuck real life, I wish I was in this game.
I feel like they did a decent job with the english opening on this one... I'm normally really picky when they try and make an english song for it, but... i liked it

@Dark1Cliff There will be, Tales of Graces is coming out next year in the NTSC and PAL regions exclusively on the PS3. It's already out in Japan and the PS3 is not region locked, so if you know some Japanese, it would't be a bad idea to import a copy if you want to play it now. If you are monolingual, like me, it would be best to wait until the english version comes out.
Yuri is such a fresh change from most JRPG protaganists. He has an awareness of the world and whats happening and is quite comfortable with the person he is. I really enjoyed playing an older hero in this game. Sure there isn't as much character development in Yuri as apposed to a younger hero but I really do tire of bitchy whiny lead characters in JRPG's. Yuri is badass.
@Darthabeymo Yuri's character is badass. There is some really decisive character development here though. Its subtle but its there, Yuri allows himself to be taken in by people and develops his own brand of Justice. the subtly and serious way he take his role in where he is is why he stands out to me. Aside from the fact that (as you said) he is nearly the opposite of your generic JRPG protagonist.
@Darthabeymo Agreed. Being a older gamer it was really refreshing. I bought a collection of games from a local ad and this was one of the 20. Safe to say that I found a diamond. Just wish there were Romantic sub plots. Only for the fact that Yuri has obvious connections to some party members. This is one of the few games that I just wanted MORE.. even after the 100+ hours. But thats the signs of a great story I guess.

@Darthabeymo Damn skippy. And he doesn't make pains about who he is- a guy who is more than capable of murder, a requisite skill people seem to forget when making rpgs and adventure games. All Tales basically have the same characters and the same plot.
You are a young male who goes on a quest to learn something. The characters have a magical substance that is losing power and need to replace it. And the main female character is called to be a sacrifice for something.
There are different changes in each game, but basically they all have the same characters and plot.
@pikkdogs Too bad the Tales series seems to be taking the place of Final Fantasy as Top Dog of the RPG genre in story and gameplay, especially after the complete dreck that FFXIII brought us.

@11aenem37 They did that already xD Though it was only a movie called "Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike" and it takes place before the game so it's really more about Yuri and Flynn in their days of knighthood.
They show Raven like 3 times, Repede is there a lot more but as a puppy, Rita is there like once, Estelle is shown about twice, and Judith doesn't appear.
There's also a manga of it, but I'm not sure where you could find that.
its not a error, the bow has 2 blades we can say one in the up and on the down part... xD that why when the other guy is close of him, he is attacking like it is a sword...if u watrch this video slowly u can see it
After watching the part a few times, it looks as if the bow spins in his hand as or after he fires. Watch it a few times. I don't think it's an error.
I watch it every time I play the game (love the song and animation) and I must disagree. Look at the position of his hand. It isn't drawn in any way indicating a different angle. Furthermore, the bow is also draw in its same position, just in a relaxed state after the arrow was released. It is simply a matter of the grip being in one frame, then disappearing in the next.
I still gotta disagree with you man, to me it looks as if the bow rotates in his hands. Try to pause the video at 2:03 where the arrow has been released. The bow has been rotated. You can see the arc of the bow facing a different direction (back towards or around Raven) by the time the camera goes off to Tison.
That only lends more credence to my claim. Notice the bow is both light and dark brown. The metal grip is aligned with the dark. When released, the darker is prominent and the grip disappears. Had the bow rotated as you say (w/o any visible manipulation on Raven's part mind you) the grip's top would have faced the screen. The only other alternative is the grip cutting thru his wrist or the back of his hand to become invisible. I dunno. I say we just agree to disagree on this one. =)
@hakim148 of course. however that does not mean that the handle does not disappear in the cutscene. it is simply an animation quirk, an omission of one detail. not a big deal really.
Uh every Tales game had a singer, just in Japanese. I suppose it's a good thing Bonnie Pink can sing just as well in English as she can in Japanese (a rare trait).
loved the game while i had it but my xbox was having a really hard time playing it and it was scratching the hell out of it.... so i sold it before it wrecked the game entirely :( i want it back now....
Just beat this and I loved every moment of it. The only other Tales game I've played is Symphonia, and I really dont know which I think is better. They're both great! I think maybe Vesperia had better characters and much better main character in Yuri, but the plot was a little too unfocused until the final third or so. Still great though, anyone who's a fan of rpgs should go for it!
well its in the same tales of series but they arent related, i think the only ones that are, are top (phantasia) tos (symphonia) and tos2 (symphonia 2) those ones are related and same with the destiny ones

Even my friend, who thought it was lame and only plays stuff like Halo, said that he likes how it looks and he's considering playing it.

its not a error, the bow has 2 blades we can say one in the up and on the down part... xD that why when the other guy is close of him, he is attacking like it is a sword...if u watrch this video slowly u can see it

After watching the part a few times, it looks as if the bow spins in his hand as or after he fires. Watch it a few times. I don't think it's an error.

I watch it every time I play the game (love the song and animation) and I must disagree. Look at the position of his hand. It isn't drawn in any way indicating a different angle. Furthermore, the bow is also draw in its same position, just in a relaxed state after the arrow was released. It is simply a matter of the grip being in one frame, then disappearing in the next.

I still gotta disagree with you man, to me it looks as if the bow rotates in his hands. Try to pause the video at 2:03 where the arrow has been released. The bow has been rotated. You can see the arc of the bow facing a different direction (back towards or around Raven) by the time the camera goes off to Tison.

That only lends more credence to my claim. Notice the bow is both light and dark brown. The metal grip is aligned with the dark. When released, the darker is prominent and the grip disappears. Had the bow rotated as you say (w/o any visible manipulation on Raven's part mind you) the grip's top would have faced the screen. The only other alternative is the grip cutting thru his wrist or the back of his hand to become invisible. I dunno. I say we just agree to disagree on this one. =)

@hakim148 of course. however that does not mean that the handle does not disappear in the cutscene. it is simply an animation quirk, an omission of one detail. not a big deal really.

Uh every Tales game had a singer, just in Japanese. I suppose it's a good thing Bonnie Pink can sing just as well in English as she can in Japanese (a rare trait).

Just beat this and I loved every moment of it. The only other Tales game I've played is Symphonia, and I really dont know which I think is better. They're both great! I think maybe Vesperia had better characters and much better main character in Yuri, but the plot was a little too unfocused until the final third or so. Still great though, anyone who's a fan of rpgs should go for it!

well its in the same tales of series but they arent related, i think the only ones that are, are top (phantasia) tos (symphonia) and tos2 (symphonia 2) those ones are related and same with the destiny ones

Namco has made many games in a Tales of... series, but they aren't really related. Gameplay is similar though.
