Agreed, like I said I own both. I have a 03 cobra 6 speed and a auto 05 gt. My personal taste though, I love autos, call me lazy but I like to lay back drink my rout44 sonic drink and stomp and go on any ricer that wants to do a fly bye. Easier to drive in bad weather too. But to each their own,

You could row through your shift box and miss a gear while the guy in the auto goes flying by with a coke in his hand....I totally get it. I won both a 6 speed manual cobra and a 5 speed supercharged mustang GT, both have their pros and cons
@boosted05stang i see your point about automatics and drag racing. But i like the inconsistency of a manual, the better car doesn't always win, i like to control the ride it makes driving fun.
Mustangs have always been my favorite, but a corvette z06 would beat a super snake because it's much, much lighter than a mustang, even if the super snake packs a more powerful engine

If you want to match chevy's z06 against a ford, try the ford gt. which, by the way would win. I don't like the corvette anymore. They lost the beauty and workmanship for performance. It is a great track car, but no matter how fast the z06, and zr1 are, I'll always prefer the stingray. I agree with you on the the gt500 being the most bang for your buck, and the same goes for the super snake.
Well that super snake was not the full version of the super snake. Add 75 more horsepower and more torque to get the real racing super snake. Plus the 0-100-0 needs to have distance to know which car truly won.
This is an old post from 2008. I'd like to see what the new GT500 Mustang would do against these two cars. IMO, the outcome wouldn't even be close. Especially the fast lap test. One can only imagine what even a Boss 302LS or a new GT350 would do at the big track at WS. Heck, it would even be interesting to see what the new V-6 could turn on that track. With the speed limiter disabled of course.
@Miatacrosser The new mustangs destroy the new challenger and camaro's, by a lot. The 5.0 motor is really just a league ahead of the new stuff. Right now the mustangs are running lighter weight, averaging 200 pounds lighter than the camaro, and 400 pounds lighter than the challenger, and that is making a huge difference in the power to weight ratio straight to track performance.

Personally I love the Super Snake, that's why my GT500 is being converted into one. The reason people have trouble handling it is because they can't drive. @joey187 The new SRT8 392 is pretty damn fast, but the one thing holding the challenger back is the auto transmission, and the cast iron engine block. They could drop weight if they went aluminum. That's what Ford did with the 2011 mustang. They dropped I think about 120 lbs or more. The challenger is a chunky car. Friggin gorgeous though. A buddy of mine has a 2010 RT. I can't help but drool every time I see it.

@joey187 The new SRT8 392 is pretty damn fast, but the one thing holding the challenger back is the auto transmission, and the cast iron engine block. They could drop weight if they went aluminum. That's what Ford did with the 2011 mustang. They dropped I think about 120 lbs or more. The challenger is a chunky car. Friggin gorgeous though. A buddy of mine has a 2010 RT. I can't help but drool every time I see it.

@braddfordy lol you sound dumb. wil a 1100 hp civic SI beat a stock gt500?? duuuuh so what stock for stock the 392 is faster. and its naturally aspirated , in 1965-1970 the gt50 was naturally aspirtaed . all its life until ford got lazy in 07 lmao. and as far as the ZR1 it was turbocharged in 1989 so it lives up to its traditional forced induction roots unlike the GT500

@dddjjf I sound dumb? Well for starters the zr1 was a ohc motor lt4 it wasn't t/c smart guy! The 392 which is not even on the streets will run what the gt and ss will run. My tuners old gt500 with a 3.4 whipple ran 10s with a trap over 130+ mph! A 392 will not be in the same zip code as Ts 500! Hell the 2011 gt500 stock for stock is too much car for the 392!

@braddfordy yep thats why it ran a 12.4 and your sorry inflated ass 5.0 cant run 12.7s right?/ exactly and the fact that you can put a sorry ass forced induction garbadge pussy whipple on a gt5000 doesnt impress me. its more aftermarket forced induction. ford needs to go naturally aspirtaed to eanr respect. 5.0s are fast but there not faster than the SS or SRT8s. both SS and SRT8 have been running high 12s forever.

@dddjjf what kind of car do you drive again? 11 500 has ran 11.80s and low 11s with stickies bone stock! Fastest 11 gt is a 12.30 in auto with the 315 gear bone stock! A srt8 will not see those without mods! What did your srt8 run.
