This really brings back the memories on the old black and white TV. Didn't understand the show much as we were too young but that snappy tune from Warner Bros was so cool (and you did "click, click" with your fingers!)
Not like Tijuana at all (comment below), it's still the same Strip, restaurants/nightclubs etc. Remember there is no part of Sunset Blvd. (not even the Latino area near downtown) that has an address anywhere close to "77". The exterior used here was a restaurant that Dean Martin lent his name to, Dino's Lodge, which was in the 9300 block (approx). The whole Strip is in the 9000's.
Well folks . . . what memories this invokes . . . laying on the living-room floor, staring up at the black & white RCA console . . . powered by glowing electronics as GOD meant electronics to be---VACUUM TUBES!!!
That T-Bird Drop-Top was the Batmobile of its day!!!
Warner Brothers or whoever owns them now needs to cough up a premium set of this show! I know DVDs are available, but what quality? Never saw it, but knew of it for years.
everyone bombbard warner brothers with demands they release 77 sunset strip, hawaiian eye, adventures in paradise, surfside 6,bourbon street beat, maverick, cheyenne, sugarfoot, bonco, colt 45 and the rest on dvd. they have all the rights to them but the cheapos wont issue unless their is peak demand.
Wow ... This is great. I haven't seen this in years. It took me back to a time when all I can remember is fun things and glued to the TV admiring all the slick looks and behavior of the time. I used to dream of being able to walk around that driveway using a comb!
I eventually got to see it many years later on a business trip ... all the way from Perth, Australia.
This show was the shizzle in 1957. Ed Burns cut a 45 with Connie Stevens regarding, Kookie, Kookie Lend Me Your Comb. I was in first grade but bugged my dad till he took me to The Platter record store and bought the darned thing for me. You got the record and an official Kookie's comb.
i suppose the reason why the announcer reads the title to the audience even though the title is clearly shown, reflects on the literacy levels of the viewers
@poussecafe3 I think the narrator read the titles that way for a number of reasons. 1. The picture on those black and white TV's were terrible in those days.
2. TV was still new. People were used to radio and just hearing voices.
3. There was no videotape, or DVD's or DVR's back then. You could only see a show once, or wait for a summer rerun. No way to go back and see something you missed, so hearing it reinforced your memory of it.

Wes102666 Excellent observation on your part! I guess they thought the Warner Brothers logo would hide that little transitional error.

I love how Efrem gets into a '58 Thunderbird Convertible....and drives out in a '58 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible.

@TheBabyboomkidof53 Begging your pardon and excuse the corrigendum, but Adventures in Paradise was from 20th Century Fox.

Kookie...how could you not like a guy who had the guts to sing lyrics such as "i've got smog in my noggin" on his only hit song..
