Most people in NYC live only about 50 miles from the heart of Long Island. Queens and Brooklyn are ON the island. And they act like they don't know where it is? These people are just trying to seem cool and so urban that they never even heard of LI. You idiots...ever see the 495 LONG ISLAND signs all over NYC? That's because we are your damn neighbors. At least 25% of the people on LI work in the city too. Most of the people you see walking around the city aren't even from there. Idiots.

I think it's so funny how people in the city act as if LI is some foreign land 5000 miles away. Brooklyn and Queens are part of LI, and basically everyone on LI is or has people in their family from NYC. Long Island is the suburbs of NYC. Some people consider me a bit "out there" and I can still get in Queens in a half hour if I really tried. The city is like 20-40 miles away for most people on LI, so I don't understand why most of the people you talked to seem to have no clue. It's funny.
