As a Ferris alum who loves Big Rapids and lived there all year round, I watched the economic cycle ebb and flow as college students left for the summer and return in the fall. For better or worse, that town is dependent on Ferris and its students. What would be the economic drive of Big Rapids if Ferris wasn't there?

I grew up in Barryton and then went to High School in Baldwin, because the Barryton school didn't have no stairs to go up to the high school. Only had a roof up there. Anyways, I got my PhD at Fairest university as a I doctor and now I fix I's for the U.S. Air Forts up here in Negaunee. No I don't. I went to college there in the 80's. I had some very good times and some very bad times up there. I'm a little partial to BR because back then the Detroit area truly sucked and I was happy to be out of there.

Wow! That the thing that amazed me when I went up there in 2001(First time in a dozen years) was how built up it had become. But with all that, I was also amazed at how much had remained the same.
