If you don't feel a sense of purpose why bother living at all? But you are correct that we are not any more important than the pile of dust we will become. In the New Testament, everything was written anywhere from 17yrs to about 50-80yrs later which leaves room for many 1st hand witnesses. @aegisgfx Also, if many people see exactly the same thing you might argue that all the people collaborated before they wrote the new testament to make their stories exactly the same. In the Bible though, a lot of the stories are different because the people witnessed the miracles first hand with different perspectives. That is why people try and argue that the Bible has so many "discrepencies" because they dont take into fact that people see things from a different perspectives.
